Got the windows down blasting that new iFruit Radio, fresh dirt plastering the sparkly Misano Blue paint, and don't care! This is my main car. Everything in one. Four doors, the saucy looks a Sentinel can't provide, the performance and sound a Sentinel can't provide, and handling that makes it feel like a baby Grotti. I cannot fault this car on anything. I even like the interior. It's just a perfect car. It makes me wonder how good the "Presidente" VSTR will be. That's a full-size sports sedan, this is more mid-size, almost compact. It's really gonna be a tough comparison but this seems like the ultimate getaway "baddie" car. The VSTR looks more like pure brute force. I'm just shocked they made this handle and sound the way it does. It has to be one of the best driver's cars in the entire game, it has to be. And it's a sedan! Like finally, I remember when the most interesting sedan you could buy was an Oracle II. Look at this video: So accurate. Well done, Rockstar.13 points -
Bravado Gauntlet Classic Appreciation Thread

A legend. That's what we've got here today. One that dates all the way back to the 1960s, involves the finest minds of Vapid, Declasse, and Shyster, and has left the identity of the American automobile changed forever. Buckle up, it's going to be a big one. It's the 1960s. Counter-culture is on the rise, the civil rights movement is in full swing, and the United States and the Soviet Union are playing darts with the moon as their target. It's a fast-changing time, but despite a little bit of trouble in Vietnam, America is still enjoying the post-war boom that comes to a country when they win a war without flattened cities, and the big three domestic automakers have been prospering. Fins may be out, but Vapid has discovered the next big thing. By putting a decently powerful engine and sporty body on a small, economical chassis, Vapid has tapped into the blooming market of young people who need a car and happen to have lots of their parents' money to spend. The Dominator quickly forms the basis of a whole new segment of the American automotive market, and as Vapid enjoys this redemption for their late 50s embarrassment, Declasse and Shyster are stuck playing catch-up. Both hastily restyle a few of their own econoboxes to be more appealing to the youth, but as the Dominator continues to evolve, it's clear they need to develop real challengers to the Vapid throne. Shyster's first push into the new "muscle car" fad was with the venerable Dukes. After a couple years of finding itself, the Dukes proved a respectable model, but it was large and still reeked of the dated, aircraft-inspired styling that was common a decade earlier. It proved unpopular with young buyers until nearly a decade later, but that's another story. It was obvious Shyster didn't know what to do. While Declasse retained the established Coquette and redeveloped the Vamos, they also toyed with a Burgerfahrzeug-inspired rear-engined compact, which enjoyed considerable success despite its unfamiliarity to traditionalist American buyers. But Shyster had nothing like that, instead having continued to focus on large cars that, even with big engines and aggressive, aerodynamic styling, did not appeal to the demographic that Vapid and now Declasse were serving. Even their smallest model, the Bravado Oceanic, was a land yacht compared to the ever-beefier Dominator. As the decade came to a close, it seemed Shyster was stuck shooting for the moon, but never quite reaching it. Then came 1970, and Shyster threw down the Gauntlet. Born out of a concept for a jet-powered Dukes, the first space-age muscle car was all new, and offered everything that Shyster had in one package. Any engine, any color, any interior, it was all available. Shyster wanted this new to fit its owner like a glove, no matter who they were, and to redefine the muddied Bravado marque as the prime American performance car brand. Didn't matter that it was still an inch or two longer and wider than the Dominator, what mattered was that the Gauntlet was the first true challenger that the Dominator had faced since its introduction nearly six years prior. Shyster put everything into the Gauntlet, stripping almost all of their other marques and models of performance packages to keep infighting down, and sat back to watch the profits roll in. It seemed like a good year for Shyster, the first in a long time, but a year is only so many days. 1971 saw the Gauntlet's sales down to a third of what they had been, and the numbers never really recovered. In '72, the Gauntlet was stripped of its wide variety of options and given an arguably unnecessary facelift in an attempt to reignite interest in the struggling car. But it wasn't just the Gauntlet, as even the reintroduced sports packages on the Oceanic and other Bravado models failed to meet expectations. Shyster, repeating their ironically short-sighted "Future Vision" design school of the 1950s, had failed to account for the shifting market accompanying the last years of the boom. Young people born during and just after World War II who had been single and free-spirited when the Dominator was introduced were now nearing thirty, fleeing the post-industrial decay of what had been America's heartland, and wrestling their soon-to-be Degenatron junky children into the back of a Canis station wagon. The demand for muscle and sportiness was gone as fast as it came, replaced by high-visibility luxury cars and gas-conscious sedans and wagons. Even the Dominator struggled in these years, and the Gauntlet, without purpose, faded away. Shyster fell back into boxy, inoffensive family haulers, and though the Gauntlet name was revived for a rebadged Maibatsu in the early 1980s, it seemed the war for the title of best muscle car was as futile as the war in Vietnam. Some people blamed cars like the Gauntlet for causing the oil crisis just as some people blamed the soldiers for the war, but rather than dwell on what could've been, most people decided to forget, so they did. Of course, you can write as many history books as you want, say all those things you've written did or did not happen, but that doesn't mean that's the way it was. Shyster's pretender to the Dominator throne retained its popularity among groups of dedicated enthusiasts. People who were connected at first by name and number only, a rag-tag bunch of gearheads and grease monkeys all across the United States scouring trader magazines and junkyards for parts to keep their custom-tailored Gauntlets in perfect condition, men and women in love with their car despite its failure to eclipse Vapid's champion. Stories passed from owner to owner, folklore and legends arising along the wires between phones and inboxes, and interest in Bravado's performance cars of yesteryear grew. Since the 1990s, clubs and shows dedicated to the legendary 1970 Bravado Gauntlet, with Coquette and Dominator counterparts, have formed the cornerstones of American automotive culture. Leave it to the community to pick up the pieces, huh? A pretty happy ending for a car nearly forgotten, if only that were the end to this story. About a decade ago, Vapid, following a popular trend of retro-styled cars, overhauled the Dominator with a new body inspired by the original 1960s models. And the very next year? Shyster - or whoever is calling themselves Shyster these days - repeated themselves again, this time with the Gauntlet, and it was like it never left. Might be built in Canada with a few German parts here-and-there, but you'd be pretty stupid to argue that the Gauntlet isn't all-American in the face of an enthusiast of the type you'll find around here. And it doesn't matter, because the Gauntlet is for sale to this day, and it's stronger than it's been since 1970. A second chance after fifty years? I'd call that a happy ending. So, here's mine. It's a 1972, so it's not exactly a performer or a looker, but I can't say that bothers me. I get around in an '87 Albany most days, after all. Picked it up from an auction on Southern San Andreas Super Autos earlier this year, came out of a storage lock-up in San Fierro, pretty good price considering it was kept out of the salt and fog and is just about all original. My old man was into Bravado, but never got the chance to own an original Gauntlet after I was born in '71, so I feel like it's a bit of retribution that I take care of this one now. Gets a good stretch every other weekend out on the Grand Senora freeway, but it's also great for those winding roads up in the Vinewood Hills and cruising down Del Perro at sundown. It really does fit like a glove. As always, more images in the spoiler below. There are a lot of them!12 points -

He can provide you with a Combat MG, which can be useful in Agressive approach. Or Big Con if you exit loud. He can also give you a longer decoy if needed. Think people are reading way too much into it. They've made plenty of things like these over the years. Here's some of the old stickers: The Colombia one is what is setting a lot of people off, because "it clearly confirms Project Americas" Well... maybe it doesn't. People have the solution already in their minds, and they're taking everything like it is definitive. Like it means something. Maybe they just gave out some cool badges, and that's it. Not an exciting answer, I know. But 99.9% likely the truth.6 points -
