"Naturally, the game switches off the pad's auto aim when you start playing with a mouse, and you can switch freely between mouse and pad if you prefer riding a horse with a controller." "The controls are customisable too, as you'd expect. You can alter FOV settings to your taste and rebind keys. The radial item selection menus will take some getting used to, and for the sake of my fingers I'd rebind the slow-mo 'dead eye' trigger from middle mouse button to a side button." "I asked and they confirmed! Red Dead Redemption 2 will be open to modding, just like GTA 5. Will the modders turn up the graphics even more? Surely! What will they add to the world of RDR 2? I try not to think about it. Mods will be available only in single-player mode. Red Dead Online will be left intact so as not to complicate the already difficult situation with cheaters or griefers. The devs also announced that they will increase the measures and methods to make life difficult for potential fraudsters in online mode." "In other words, if you already own Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 or Xbox One, you won’t be missing much if you decide not to double-dip on PC. (Unfortunately, you will indeed be missing it: Asked if Rockstar is planning to bring the PC port’s bonus content to the console versions, a spokesperson said the company has nothing to announce at this time.)" "As for Red Dead Redemption 2’s online component, Red Dead Online, it will go live on PC at launch. It won’t offer any cross-platform play, and everyone will have to start fresh — unlike with Grand Theft Auto 5’s Grand Theft Auto Online, there won’t be an option to transfer existing characters from the PS4 or Xbox One versions." Some bits of information a fair few people have been wanting answers for.10 points -

And so Hallows' eve passes into Hallows' day, trickery and treats giving way for reverence of saints and Halloween clearance sales. If you're of certain Latin cultures, you might have another couple of days to celebrate the macabre, but here in the northern States we're already preparing for the long winter. Heavy coats, hearthfires, and road salts, oh my! It could be worse, though - should we be looking at a nuclear winter, our preparations would not be so trivial. Canned water, potassium iodide, and underground fallout shelters are a far cry from the American Dream, especially today when the threat of total thermonuclear annihilation seems a thing of the past. Indeed, it was little over fifty years ago when the Cold War reached its climax in Cuba, and the cracks in the post-war American facade began to show. It's the 1960s, and part three of the three-part American Midcentury Throwback! It's a turbulent time, maybe the most definitive period for modern America, from desegregation to the counter-culture revolution. Two icons of the new America are assassinated in broad daylight, and man takes his first steps on the moon. The leaders of the British Invasion take hold of the airwaves, and boots are on the ground in the far-flung far-east territory of Vietnam. Protests organize and riots break out in cities all across the United States, for and against any and all topics, and it seems the Union is more divided than it has been in one hundred years. America is no longer sure of itself as a dominator on the world stage, and the automotive industry reflects this. As European and even Japanese imports arrive, the American car is no longer without competition. While names like Studebaker and Nash are quickly outmoded, the Big Three too must adapt quickly to the changing game. What happens next will shape the course of western culture for fifty years and counting. Though you could argue the times are a-changin' just as much now as in the 1960s, I'd say that's for another decade. Let's get back to it. 1960 Ford Falcon Oh, the humble beginnings of the Falcon. Ford's reaction to the growing distaste for the big, aggressive cars of the late 50s, the Falcon's space age styling is subdued and its options modest. But in a few years its mechanical twin will be born, and the rest is history. 1962 Dodge Polara Or a '63 Plymouth Belvedere. All I need to say is "Max Wedge" and it should be apparent why I'm surprised we've never gotten one of these cars. Weird leftover Forward Look styling means it isn't the prettiest car, but it's hard to ignore. International Harvester Scout You can claim the Bronco or Blazer as the first popular SUV, but the Scout knows the truth. In the model of the popular but utilitarian Jeep, IH designed an off-road capable, on-road comfortable quasi-truck in the late 50s, and formed a whole new market as they did. 1966 Dodge Coronet As the 60s rolled on, the market regained interest in powerful, sporty cars. While the Coronet was not a new name, it was revived for 1965 to compete in the burgeoning muscle car market, and while it's overshadowed now, it shouldn't be forgotten. Chevrolet Corvair Greenbrier General Motor's own competitor to the growing imported market, the Corvair, proved an able-bodied platform despite some bad press. Taking a page out of Volkswagen's book, a van configuration was also available, foretelling the rise of the American minivan. 1967 Ford F-series Of course, a truck is a truck, and even the most turbulent of times fail to diminish the usefulness of a utilitarian platform like the F-series. Though not as stylish or remarkable as some contemporaries, it's a reminder of working America. I have to appreciate that.7 points -

Clearing something out here... Quoting Yoona, but it's not directed to them. "Polish preview says game was using mix of Ultra, medium and low settings to maintain 60 fps in 4K." So what can we take from this? Realistically speaking... We don't know which settings were on Low, Medium or Ultra. Ultra settings, as far as we know are meant for FUTURE-PROOFING. They won't guarantee a good performance on ANY rig existent nowadays. Once again, not knowing which settings were set to Low. You can't be concerned. They could've easily toned down AA. Since 4K DOES NOT REQUIRE 8xMSAA, it's POINTLESS. The sheer pixel density is absurd, it's totally overkill. At the same time, they could've cranked it up to the maximum. 4K resolution is demanding, how many of you even own a 4K Monitor? The game has checkerboarding. At least on PS4. If you're on a tight system you can sacrifice some pixel quality to open room for extra performance. It works fairly decent for 4K. Calm yer tits. The articles are leaving an impression that the game is very optimized. Most of us are going to be able to run it at 60FPS at our native resolutions. Specially when there are dozens of graphical options way that look like a credits screen. "if it's not ultra, then why play on pc in the first place?" The PC platform isn't about ULTRA 240hz 21:9. It's about FLEXIBILITY. You choose your hardware, your OS, the graphical settings that matter the most to you... You tweak it so you can squeeze the best out of your system, following your tastes. If your system can't handle stuff, you tone it down. If you feel like "Ultra" is a necessity, upgrade your computer. If you can't upgrade your computer, then that's what you get. Nothing more, nothing less and there's not much that you can do about it.6 points -

It's been said plenty of times, perhaps too much, but... We all know, along the lines of "MkII," the flying pestmobile that served no other purpose but to be a curse. Something interesting to note is that the game appears to handle DLC the exact same way GTA V does (With the DLC being in a folder named "dlcpacks", in it's own named folder, and finally within a "dlc.rpf" file). This makes me wonder if it'll be just as easy to get stuff like addon mods (such as maps, extensive custom characters, custom vehicles, ect) working easily within RDR2. Theoretically it shouldn't be that difficult considering that RDR2 was apparently built off of GTA V's engine (meaning things like Scripthook should be relatively simple to implement)6 points -
