Michael is a strong character, but the other two protagonists have more complications.
Franklin is just a Carl Johnson clone, who never evolves. He's the same character, start to finish. Nothing wrong with only wanting money, but Rockstar could have added more depth to him.
Trevor is immensely entertaining, but his erratic hostile outrageous and vulgar personaltiy makes it hard to sympathize with him during moments where Rockstar essentially commands you feel sorry for him.
Lester is also a difficult dichotomous character. With his disability and his social awkwardness, it's like we're supposed to pity him, but we can't because he has blood on his hands as well.
Wade, Floyd, Chop and especially Lamar are well done characters. Jimmy is a good character, but Tracey and Amanda, full of less hilarious moments is two-dimensional.
Nervous Ron was a disappointment. I thought he was going to be a great character, but in the end, he's just a suckup to Trevor. I imagined doing lots of conspiracy-related missions for him (like The Truth) would be entertaining, but in the end, he isn't fleshed out well.
Dave Norton and Steve Haines are capable but forgettable antagonists. Yes, they're assholes, but I neither hate them or empathize with their cause, so, despite their large role in the story, they just take up space.
Martin Madrazo, despite having a HUGE role in the story, is more of a device than a character. Easy to set into motion and all to easy to make go away.
