| Well, I'm up and running - so far no problems.|
I bought a corsair TX-750watt. First of all, I'm never buying a lesser power supply again in my life. Never mind the fact that it came with a (wtf?) velvet carrying bag, it's probably the quietest PSU I've ever heard in my life. I almost thought the machine wasn't powering up because it's that quiet. Cool.
Anyhow, so I've got to redo my over clocking. All I know is that it runs perfectly stable at 3.6. Beyond that, I'm a total f*cking noob. I've tried to google where to start, but a bit of help in the right direction from you guys would be very much appreciated.
Also, I bought new ram - 4G of Patriot Viper PC8500. Any recommendations on how to optimize the BIOS for this on my P5K? I left in my old stuff us well - 2 gigs of slightly slower Patriot DDR2 ...pc whatever, the 800 variety... RAM. Is this going to be counterproductive?
Edit - here's a funny thing. According to the BIOS and Belarc, my processor is running at 3.6 - but the system profile says 2.39. Fishy? I could have sworn it used to say 3.6
Edit 2 - CPU-Z reports 2.39-2.4 as well. Hurm.
Yeah you should never skimp the PSU
It gives you reassurance when you know there is something quality powering your PC, also most of them have 3years+ warranty, so even if it did break you can send it back to the place you bought it from and have a brand new one in a week
and the bag it comes in, is funny I got the 650w one
