This topic might reek of B&M, but I don't see a topic that'll let me do so and it's not related to GTA. I understand if it gets locked again.

But I felt like letting this out regarding DS Games, along with other video games not being translated, and because I don't know how to translate them, they're just being left out in the dust.

I once made a mistake of asking for a translated version of the Magician's Quest Games in GBATemp, but boy, it didn't go well. I did get reminded of the rules, but that made me feel salty at the community that I now want the staff behind the forums to just... Suspend me indefinitely. I know, I was 15 at the time, but I am still upset that the games were only released almost a decade ago and NOBODY bothered in translating them. I wish I can play them, but because I don't have Japanese in my tongue so well, I can't do anything about it...

Have you been on the same boat as I did when you don't see a specific game being translated so that it can be played easily? The obvious solution is to try to learn the language of the game before playing, but sometimes, it's not easy.

What do you think about this topic? Do you have a specific game that nobody bothered to translate? Let me know your thoughts below.

I already had the same problem with some japanese games, fortunately there are sometimes unofficial translations available.

Like what? I know one, though. The Tomodachi Collection one. Since then, I haven't seen any new ones.

Budget for translation, publishing, printing, and the voice acting if needed especially since userbase can be really picky. Because English version of video games usually will have to cover US, EU, Australia, and Southeast Asia. Europe region usually will even include additional languages like German, French, Spanish and as for US region, sometimes it will also include Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish.

Yes, I did have a series to play that was put in this position. But I eventually just bought their Japanese version and played with dictionary in hand.

Yeah, and sometimes some companies keep their games in their first language. But when that happens, some people insist others to do the unofficial translation work for them. But in my case, the games I requested to be translated... Never happened. I might consider a dictionary in hand, too. Maybe it'll help.

I think I'd go crazy if I had to play a game and translate every word from japanese to english :D

I love how the Yakuza series handled it and left us the amazing japanese voice acting with english subtitles. Those games would loose a lot of their character with english voice acting. I prefer original voice acting in all kinds of media, no matter if I understand it or not. Give me subtitles and we're fine.

I already played The story of Thor in german and Monster world IV in japanese and I never tried to translate because I knew it would take very long and the result probably wouldn't be worth it. Playing them remained funny anyway.

Fortunately I have discovered their french translations since. :-)
