It's said GTA has sold almost 100 million copies,ALMOST SIX BILLION DOLLARS. I guess this is their last effort to make it over that hill(100 mark)

The problem with Rockstar and GTA is not Rockstar or GTA. The problem is that the Freemium business model, which was formerly limited to mobile games and unscrupulous IAP packages, has now made its way into console games. This effectively allows developers and publishers of console and PC games to double-dip, making a ton of money on the front end, then even more on the back end. As bad as the Freemium companies are, arguably the worst being Gameloft, it can be argued that applying this business model to full console and PC games is intrinsically worse. Because when you download a freemium game at least you don't have to pay for it, and a dedicated player can get very far without ever paying a single penny. But when companies like EA, and now unfortunately Take2, charge you full retail price for a game, then try to turn you into a whale on the back end with IAP (AKA microtransactions) it is even more unscrupulous.

But you know what the biggest problem is with the Freemium business model? The customers. As long as these companies, and now Take2 is one of them, can so easily entice people to pour ungodly money into the Online part of these games, then it is us gamers, and us gamers alone, who are creating this obscene condition. Why shouldn't Take2 force Rockstar (or financially incentivize them into submission) to concentrate solely on Online, to not only the exclusion of SP DLC, but even delaying GTA's sequel to milk V's Online, when the customers make it so easy for them to, and continue to literally pour money into Take2's coffers at an alarming rate? Can you honestly tell me you would do ANYTHING differently if you were Sam Houser and money was being heaped on you like this for simply adding stuff to the same game in this manner and ignoring SP and a sequel?

There is a term that started in Vegas long before Freemium thuggery in mobile games and GTA Online. It started late in the 20th Century and was popularized early in the new millennium. The term that casino owners had for their biggest customers was "Whales." This was because the people who spent millions and even tens of millions, would lose massive amounts of money to the casinos and were a source of unprecedented profits for the duplicitous owners who found incredibly inventive and seductive ways of parting people with their money, focusing a lot of energy on the high rollers.

When freemium games started to hit their stride, developers co-opted the term "Whales" to describe the players who would spend huge amounts of money on the IAP in their games. Now that GTA V is a game that allows Rockstar devs and Take2's server engineers to harpoon the whales, too, this is going to change the face of SP gaming forever. Because as long as players are willing to spend the kind of money they are on these games, to get some elusive advantage with in-game currency, and they continue to open up their wallets to support the in-game economies, there is little to no incentive to excel at SP gaming.

Take Two didn't force R* into making only online updates. They are equal partners and decided on it together. You think R* are forced into taking that sweet sweet Shark Card money for little to no work?

First off, Rockstar is owned by Take2. The publishers make the call as to how games are administered, what prices are charged, and what will be published. While there admittedly is more overlap than is the norm, since Sam Houser founded Rockstar AND owns Take2, my point was that the "devs" themselves simply answer to both their project leaders and their publishers. I also made the point in parenthesis that the production of online updates are most likely highly incentivized. But the point is that even if devs on GTA's team were clamoring to make SP DLC and add much more SP support, they would have been summarily shut down.

Plus, who cares whose decision it was in the end? Whether some, a few, a lot, or most devs had to be forced to take orders not to have SP support is pure sophistry at this point, because the logistics of it adds nothing to our SP game.

My gut instincts tell me that most of the devs on the GTA team are hardcore gamers, as well as fans of GTA themselves. And I refuse to believe that these guys wouldn't have wanted to create more actual SP content if they could have, even if it meant a lot more work. But, again, this is all speculation on all of our parts, and is irrelevant. How many of the devs would or would not want to create SP content is not going to change what we have, which is next to nothing in terms of SP content added to the game post release.

Strauss zelnick ceo and chairman of take2 said that they undermonetized gta v, so everything that's happening rn is pretty normal. Strauss zelnick gives the call, and the housers do the rest.

Not exact. They are equal partners and agreed about this together. Strauss can't do one thing without the Housers approving and vice versa. Gotta chop that wood right?

No, it wouldn't be awesome. There's no content to release with a premium edition,.GTA V's become the new Skyrim, constantly re-release with a few gimmicks.

LOL! I'm surprised they haven't rebranded the game as GTA Online (feat. Grand Theft Auto V). That's all it is at this point anyway. :r*:

Terrible times. Previous R* games with large amounts of DLC had actual premium editions. This nonsense is literally just GTA V with the Starter Pack, which in turn is just a bunch of stuff (the weakest stuff you can obtain in GTAO I may add) you can already obtain in GTAO. There's no "premium" here.

AND don't forget Single Player is still a buggy mess thanks to GTA Online and hasn't gotten anything since 2015. Gee thanks Rockstar for honouring GTA 4's 10th anniversary with this gift. 😒

Thanks to new rockstar direction, I have now better life. Rockstar, that was my favourite game publishers, are now in same folder as EA and Ubisoft.I watched old rockstar trailers for new games at least million times, now I dont give a s***.If I watched RDR2 trailer three times, thats a lot.

Its sad that greed ruined my childhood and these editions are making it even worse...

Constantly? They made a remaster for new consoles. Then a port to another new console. Then VR version. How bad is that? Skyrim releases are nothing like this "premium" edition.

He's the designer of the main character artwork for the series, ...well, was, that's why you've not seen any new artwork, the GTAO artwork is done by a different crew and you can tell, it just has a different feel to it.

I know who he is and to be honest the Online artwork is pretty damn good and still has that Rockstar feel to it in my opinion.

I think even Rockstar know it would be disrespectful to the artist if they had someone else draw his characters, that's why you'll only see reused art for the GTAV cast, all new artwork has been of randoms for GTAO.

If it was gotta be Online features in Singleplayer edition. (Like benny's shop in GTAO, Buying houses in SP, Heists missions with michaels crew) that would be awesome.

But this one is most pointless edition from games i ever seen
