This week's guest is a veteran llama farmer and forum administrator Moonshield.
Arrow: What made you join GTAForums?
Moon: Honestly, I joined for something so innocuous as GTA3 vehicle mods. I was I think 12 and got hooked on my first actual internet forum. The rest was herstory.
What's the context regarding your username?
I had really gotten into melodic death metal that year, the band In Flames being my go-to:
Any long term administrative goals that you hope to accomplish?
Teh Pit Grande Revivial, or you know, maybe getting IPB v4.
What would you like to change the most regarding GTAF?
To be honest, other than maybe Teh Pit Grande Revival, I think GTAF's been chugging along pretty well as is.
What has your experience been like in regards to you being both a Moderator and an Admin of GTAForums?
Members don't like being reminded of the rules on the internet, but if you're willing to have an actual conversation with somebody, they'll realize you have the power to banish them from this little corner of the internet forever, no matter how many times they try to crawl back. Just kidding, I love our members.
Which forum member(s) do you feel closest to?
The Precinct and C9, I've been noticing all of those dudes for a good long time now.
What's your favorite thing about the forums?
To be honest, the closely-knit sense of community that has been building and rebuilding since I joined is always great to see, despite the spats of drama here or there. In fact, forum drama tends to be super hilarious. Also, drinking and moderating is fun when I'm in my cups.
What's your most memorable moment on the forums?
It's been ages, but of all of The Precinct's many classic pranks, pulling off the NVB20i prank wherein TP broke up into I think 5 or 6 splinter groups due to infighting, were granted special permissions, and lead the entirety of the forums onto thinking we were actually feuding amongst each other. Eventually after a climactic flame war where some members were banned and/or "quit", TP was restored and nobody in the gang spoke a word about it, as if nothing happened at all.
How has this community changed since you first joined?
The member base has honestly become way more sophisticated and a little less segregated for the most part, especially with the advent of the gtaforums Discord channel. GTAO members and those who post mostly in the more social parts of the forums have more time intermingling. Cliques still happen just the same, whether they be verified crews, official gangs, or whatever. Also, even more female members have ended up being dudes than when I first joined
What's your favorite Rockstar Games series or title?
Red Dead Redemption without a doubt. I'm a huge fan of westerns and samurai movies, and RDR perfectly captures that mood.
Do you have any other interests, hobbies, favorite music, and so on? Tell us more about the person behind your alias.
I've always been an outdoorsman - hiking, backpacking, and bouldering are always things I find time to do. I'm an Architect by trade, but I've always had a knack for illustration - 70s-influenced pulpy fantasy and scifi pieces are my forte. Music-wise, I was raised on british and american rock, but ventured further into the blues, various forms of metal, and even more experimental soundscape music. Earth, Neurosis, Agalloch, and Yob are among my favorite groups.
Any final comments? Do you have anything to say to our readers & the GTAF community?
Arrow, I appreciate your interest and hard work getting this stuff together, and to everybody else, thanks for taking the time to read all of this. Also, I may or may not turn this post into a special edition Ban Roulette.
