As much as I love our current time what with the iPhones, internet, HD movies, and medical breakthroughs, I really wish I grew up during the 80s. And to a lesser extent, the disco era. A couple of nights ago I had a dream about the 80s, the part I'll never forget is when a small gang of friends and I were walking through the streets while a certain song was playing in the background, and we were singing along: Gold! Always believe in your soul! You've got the power to know! You're indestructible, always believe in! I'm sure we've all played VC enough times to know the rest  I've told my friends about it, and they agree saying that my eccentric and unique personality, and extreme flamboyance are perfect for those two time eras. :D There are a few modern artists/bands that I enjoy listening to, but I wish I could've enjoyed my favorite older bands during their prime, such as: The Cure, Berlin, FGTH, Eurythmics, New Order, The Human League, Animotion(especially this song, etcetera, etcetera...

So what about you guys? :)

I'm happy with living in the present day. What interests me is the future. I sometimes wonder what the world will be like 100 or even 1,000 years in the future.

I wouldn't mind having been born in the year 3000, I heard they lived underwater there.

But other than that not really no, vidya games yo.

I wish I was a king in the middle ages, had my own castle and could squeeze every last coin for taxes out of my 16 hour working villagers.

Oh yeah, and I'd love to see the future as far as I could. If all goes well and a miracle happens where humans won't blow this planet to pieces, just imagine what kind of wonders people will come up with. Let's say we finally manage to travel in lightyears, explore the galaxy and beyond. Even if there's no alien life, I'd love to see how things look like from a different planet.

I would like to be born a Patrician during the first century of the Roman Empire. I'd spend my time binging, purging, bathing and attending feasts and orgies. Not much different from how I live now, actually.

Maybe move my birthday to like 1980 so I can experience more of the 90s. The present is like a constant state of deja-vu...maybe the 2020s will be more interesting. As much as I like to romanticize the past, it was way more violent, disease and malpractice ran rampant, can't go too far back without having half the people around you die of some goofy bird flu.

I wish I was born in ancient Egypt, I heard they were all about gold, pussies, UFOs and pulling people's brains through the nose.

Nah, but really, it would be pretty cool to be born in the future. Maybe 2200?

I also love where i am in present day. Still kinda stuck in the 90's tbh :p But for me i would personally would have liked to be a born in the 60's or 70's. Just because the music. Loved everthing about that era of music. Also at those times my old neighborhood was different compared to how it was growing up in the 90's. Drugs weren't a must yet. The 80's and 90's really heated up badly with the war on drugs.

But i'm glad i was a 90's kid. Aside from the stupid sh*t i did. My childhood was a blast since i remember i had so many neighborhood friends to mess around with :pp

@Algonquin Assassin: Ahhh...The Greasers. I liked their style. Thick lether Jackets and loads and loads of either gel or pomade. 50's was the sh*t, and music was amazing. Elvis?? Hellz yeah.

Not particularly, because a lot of the modern conveniences allow me to experience different decades depending on my tastes. I think it boils down to that "nice to visit, nice to come home" mentality I get whenever I go on a trip. Visiting the 1960s would be alright, but only in the same way that going to Amsterdam for the weekend would be. I'd think "okay, this is nice and everything, but I'm ready to go home now".

Then again, you assume there's freedom with the fantasy so if we're going down the fun route, stick me on a Viking longboat with a horned helmet. It's time to marry my ginger cousin!

It depends really. Sometimes I wish I was born a couple decades earlier, since many things would have been less difficult to accomplish. But sometimes I wish I was born a couple hundred years later for the advancement in technology, philosophy, medicine, and stuff like that.

I am happy to have a childhood on the 90's, the best era in my opinion, because of the rebellion, electronic music scenes, great toys, iconic animes like Evangelion, Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, etc...

If i have to wish which era I could born, I would chose year 500 in Japan, being an empress of all the "Land of Rising Sun", or being born in year 3000, a future with robots, flying cars, floating cities, etc...

I was born in the mid/late '70s and only wish I was born in the early '70s for I could have furthermore enjoyed the entire '80s.  The '80s were such a fantastic time.  I am at least glad I got to experience what I did of the greatest decade. My entire present life still reflects the '80s. I gotta do what I gotta do to try & wipe the sh*tty '90s & '00s out of my memory.

Well, I'm certainly aware of all the things I would miss if I lived times gone by such as food/safety/health standards, technology, certain social attitudes etc but for fun, there's some times I would definitely love to time machine back to and experience.

I've always wanted to walk through New York in the late 70's or early 80's when the place was a lot more grimier. I wish GTA was set in New York during those times sometime in the future. I would love to have experienced some of the Disco era there as well as the rise of the Hip Hop scene, particularly with graffiti and rapping.

I could also go back to beyond then to prohibition era or 30's, 40's, 50's.

Seems like everyone dressed like a gangster :p

I'd love a GTA set in Liberty City during the 70s/80s too dude. There's always The Warriors I guess to fill the void for the time being.

Sometimes I do. I'm mostly comfortable with my life and my past, I had a decent childhood, but sometimes I wonder how it would have been being young in the 60's and 70's in places like the UK. Being able to listen to The Who, Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons during their heydays sounds like glory. Also as a fan of classic European cars I would certainly like to see the streets of an European city full of them. I've seen that in pictures, it's a world that will never come back. Motorsports were also very important -and more spectacular- at the time.

I'm happy how things worked out but if I had a chance to go back in time and be reborn, I would have liked it to be during the caveman era and avoid marriage, prenuptial agreements altogether. Just me and my lucky club.

I ask myself how it was like to be alive in the prehistoric times. No civilisation, no clear division between right and wrong, stuff like rape and cannibalism on a daily basis and still, our brains have the same capabilities as the ones from thousands of years ago.

Obviously, we're smarter now with the exception of flatearthers and chemtrailers but that's because we're being born into smart and complex societies and learn about everything. However, our brains as organs were the exact same brains. People had a lot of storage space and learning capabilities and I can only wonder what they did with it and how they lived.

Was the general mentality based on survival on one hand and doing whatever pleases you on the other hand? No morals, just pure egoism? It's kind of mysterious what went through people's heads back then.

And that's my midnight thought for the day, sorry for the sh*tpost.

I can't complain.  Born in '79, was a kid in the 80's and a teen in the 90's.  Grew up on Nintendo, TMNT, lego and the WWF(WWE now).  Was a teen during the 90's, one of the best ages for music and music videos.  Graduated just in time before cel. phone cameras and facebook, thank god.  If I had to change I would of love to be born in the 50's, 1950 to be exact, that would make me 19 during Woodstock, groovy man.
