gta vc skin problem

Best Answer Richie Makyura, A day ago

1: Open Paint, your skin must be 256 x 256.

2: Save As BMP Format in 24 Bits

3: Put the file in your Skins Folder

4: Enjoy

i dont know how to post an image. i selected a texture called texture_guide and the texture does not load and tommy's texture did not change. i tried claude's texture (i know the claude texture is incorrect because it's from GTA 3) and the result is the same

You must change texture format to .bmp

Don't speak like that, he was trying to help.

Anyway, I remember I had tried to make a .TXD in place of the .BMP, and I think it worked

I don't understand your problem, just change the texture format to .bmp

Is the skin saved as a 24bit bitmap instead of 8bit?

Looks like you didn't.

For your information, jpg and bmp are different file formats. Renaming the file does not modify the content.

I renamed texture_guide.jpg to texture_guide.bmp, I open the game, I go to player skin setup, I select texture guide, the texture did not show itself and Tommy vercetti's texture did not changed. What I mean by "the texture did not show itself" is the game did not replace Tommy vercetti's texture with texture_guide.bmp

Yes, because it's a jpg file and the game can only read bmp files. it doesn't matter if you renamed it or not.

Yeah you need to actually convert it to BMP dude, renaming =/= converting.

Well the "first" one was wrong, renaming a jpg to bmp isn't making a bmp :p
