Greetings everybody,

 

Long time lurker, first time poster. Came across a strange phenomenon or possibly just a graphical bug. Several times now on my current save I've came across this very bright neon green water/low fog. Been playing san andreas for over 10 years now. PS2 version, Xbox 360 version, Steam version, and Retail PC version. Couldn't tell you how many times I've played through this game, as I'm sure most of you couldn't either, but I have never ever came across this before, and it has happened numerous times on this specific save alone.

 

Can't find very much at all online about this except this short article (http://gta-myths.wik...Strange_Weather) but it is described as specifically being a fog as in my case its only the water itself. As you can see in my screenshots this only ever seems to happen early morning from 0500 to 0700. Then it will slowly start fading away back to its normal blue color.

 

Anybody ever experience this before? Is it a bug or just a super rare occurrence? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I'm very interested in whats going on here. Thanks!

You're almost certainly using a 16-bit resolution. Though I'm surprised artifacts are THIS severe.

Looks like there is something wrong with your timecycle. In fact the timecyc.dat that comes with the PC game is pretty broken. If you want a file that works with an unmodified game, use http://aap.papnet.eu.../timecyc_PC.dat(remove the _PC from the filename obviously). If you're using SilentPatch and/or SkyGFX, using a straight PS2 file is recommended: http://aap.papnet.eu...mecyc_SAPS2.dat or http://aap.papnet.eu...ecycp_SAPS2.dat

The difference between the PC and PS2 files above are only the directional light. Cars become too bright if you enable it because the PC game is just broken. See http://www.gtamoddin...nd_timecycp.datfor a more detailed explanation as to why.

You're absolutely right. I was unknowingly using a 16 bit resolution when these screenshots were taken. Fixed that now. I'll see if that changes anything now. Thanks.
