I was looking at GTA games on MobyGames and was surprised to see they were missing the (the original) Xbox platform for Grand Theft Auto III, but then I realized it must be because it was only released in the Double Pack (with Vice City).

Was there actually a standalone release of GTA III on Xbox?

I don't think it was ever released outside of the "Double Pack".

Nope, it was released as "The Xbox Collection" and Double Pack for Xbox (port done by Rockstar Vienna) at the same time as Rockstar North was making the Double Pack for the PS2 too with bug fixes and changed stuff.

The same version I got back in 2007/2008, but that's only the package of both games. Curiously they are using the PC screenshots for the GTA3 instead of actually Xbox's ones in it, about Vice City doesn't seems to be the same case.

That's the package and this is the content:

By the time the console exclusivity ended, it was only worth throwing the two together. :)

The way he threw the games and treated the Xbox version made me want to stick knives in my eyes. It hurts to watch it.
