It looks like you can no longer leave your character watching security cameras to let business stock build up. I was kicked for inactivity twice this evening and character was definitely on the camera. Don't know if it's the same for watching TV. This was the bunker security cam on XB1.

If this really is true then I am not surprised in the slightest.

It's something to do with your Xbox settings.

I've checked the background script twice.

Nothing changed.

That's weird because I haven't changed anything, but there was an Xbox dashboard update today, maybe that's it.

Was the controller plugged in?

That might have happened because the controller turned off

The controller wasn't plugged in, but that's never made a difference before. I've done it many times with the controller unplugged. Is this happening to anyone else? Not sure how my Xbox settings would affect it as it's happening in-game.

On PS4 if the controller power fails you'll get a Rockstar "alert!" screen that it's not seeing the controller.  That could possibly time-out you from your session.

One of my marathon AFK session ended because I forgot to plug in the controller while watching the security cameras in the bunker.

If Microsoft added a power-save system for unplugged controllers it may be triggering a similar response.

I'll try plugging it in and see what happens. I used to get the reconnect controller alert before, but it never kicked me out of the session until today.

Just happened to me again for the third time this evening, this time while I sat and watched it. Going to try plugging the controller in to see if that helps, but with controller not plugged in you will definitely be kicked on XB1 it seems.

I've been kicked while watching tv before.

safest option is to tie your stick and let your character walk in circles in a safe place. That still works.

You will still be kicked if your controller is idle for 15 minutes on xbox1. Your controller won't go idle if you enable a background music player like Pandora, spotify or the xbox simple background music player. Have headphones plugged in.

rubber band your controller..problem solved

I did this last night, well, wedged it so the camera was spinning round. Came back a bit a later and I had been kicked. Has this been patched as well?

I might give this a go. Seems like a bit of a PITA though :|

Every time someone mentions “rubber banding” (or any method to keep a button or control stick out of neutral) a controller someone posts that it will damage the controller or alter its deadspot

On xb1, the controller will still go idle, after 15 minutes, with the sticks rubber-banded. It must detect movement or button presses to remain active.

Yesterday I got kicked too... My wife's sister came by, so I put my character om the sofa watching the tv in his apartment so I could go afk...

Checked back after two hours and I was timed out. Reconnecting didn't work because the R* servers weer unreachable...

So maybe this also happened to you and the tv-watching-method still works?
