GTA Online players needs a common enemy

This is just an idea that popped into my mind and not something I really really want for the game, but wouldn't it be cool if online free roam sessions could be subject to for example natural disasters/alien invasion/zombie plague or something of the kind that would make it necessary for all players in the same session to work toward a common goal?

 

Overall, in my opinion, there should be more focus on cooperative play than competitive.

 

Your thoughts? Other ideas or is this just bullsh*t to your ears?

well if they gave online a some sort of story mode type background.

 

 

I had Merryweather being the prime target.

 

Rockstar can EVEN still do this now.

 

they can push an agenda of an Evil MErrywether storyline and create PVE content/dlc in relation to it

 

Id love it tbh.

 

and they can even create a line of heists relating to this, creating contact missions, 

 

They could turn GTA into an MMO RPG except theres no classes or gearing up.

 

its just a story line that everyone can play and get involved in

 

Just like World of Warcraft.

 

and like Rockstar can drop DLC's  and each DLC continues the storyline.

 

 

its so easy.

 

idk why they haven't done this already

 

Or maybe world quests like WoW

 

although its sort of small scale and wouldn't really last that long

How would players fight a tornado?

Alien/Zombie invasion was heavily discussed in the past and agreed it would ruin the game (not that it's already ruined...).

I think there should be a new freeroam version, right, where one random player in the session has explosive diarrhea. It just happens randomly and his character is unable to move for 15 seconds. To calm his bowel movement he needs to find another player who, unbeknownst to him, has a bottle of Pepto Bismol in his snack menu. When that player is killed he drops the bottle. The diarrhea player goes around killing everyone, right, but when the player with the bottle is killed he's kicked from the lobby the instant he dies. That makes it so that players will avoid going head-on against the diarrhea player and will also help each other if possible as the more players means the lower chance of you dying. Oh, and all vehicles are replaced with Pantos.

I call it "Panto Bismol".

After 4 years of existence, I highly doubt Rockstar would implement that now...Also, how would that sell shark cards?  They release a DLC is the hopes Shark Card sales will go up.

Zombie plague? This isn't COD or Dead Island, and never will be. I'm all up for someone or something trying to kill me and others, but f*ck that cliche sh*t.

I wanna get struck by lightning and turn into some kind of superhero :p

But yeah, more co-op is wanted in general. Whether it be in freemode or completely seperate (points at contact missions). The whole alien/zombie invasion thing; Its ok if its a small Halloween special event. But to be honest I'd just prefer a blackout.

Oppressors are the enemy as of late. Us heli-guardians of the GTA-realm have been working to suppress them, and lure them into the sea.

i think the pvp aspect is too strong for them to make the shift toward pve/coop this late into the game...

i think for the next gta, R* should ditch the "1 size fit all" freeroam session and introduce pvp freeroam sessions and pve/coop freeroam sessions. each session with specific freeroam events and stuff like that.

After Lamar got those team-based missions with the Benny's Garage Rockstar seemed to give up on real PvE gameplay.  It's all PvP or Pv(weak)E in the open PvP environment.

I would say Strauss Zelnick; no doubt the key force in the decline of the game.

 

They could even make it into an Adversary Job:

 

Zentornos versus Zelnick

 

One team, armed with RPGs, are assigned to protect and escort Strauss Zelnick as he makes his way slowly walking across brightly glowing elevated props in the sky. The other team, armed with only the Zentornos they're driving, are required to knock him off the platform in order to win the round. Fear not though, we've announced the release of the Zentorno X, a stylishly hideous updated model of the previous version that includes a significant increase in overall speed and the ability to withstand three hits with an RPG. You can buy it automatically for $6.5M or play 65 rounds of Zentornos versus Zelnick and get it for $5.4M - oh, but we're not finished! You are also able to research even more levels of armour and weapons if you own a Bunker! These custom variants can be used in this wonderful new Adversary Mode that we have bestowed upon you, and if you can't afford to buy one; fear not, because we have a wide range of Sharkcard options available for every budget!

 

OT though: I doubt that would work at this point; I think it would be something that would require its own specific lobby and settings. Most people are either doing their business endeavours or blowing sh*t up. Unfortunately that's just how it is now, but I could definitely get on board with the city going through catastrophic and realistic weather. That would be a fantastic addition! However, a big no in regards to things that are purely fantasy. I get what you're saying though, and yes, I too would like to see more done with PvE - there's a lot of wasted potential there and while I enjoy a bit of both PvP and PvE, they should be treated equally within the game.

yeah lot of people asked for less pvp and more coop, but I'm sure R* has a contract with T2, that says they have to sell shark cards. and there is no better way to sell shark cards than making people grief each other. this is the sad truth. i don't say R* is happy with that situation, i'm just saying they signed a contract..

Free-Roam PVE would be great, even greater if killing other players would be punished badly while it's active.

 

Merrywheater or Gangs could go against SecuroServ, i bet they get sick of the stuff we do to them.

With all honesty, though, forced co-op wouldn't do any good to public sessions, already being the very gutters of this game, filled with feces, cheaters, blood, money begging kids, used condoms and tryhards. You can't expect these players to cooperate with normal people, who have their own goals - I/E missions, biker club supplies or just want to hang around with others. I mean, if they don't know how to get a solo public session, that is.

The problem is, public sessions are meant to be free - you do whatever you want in them. Because of that, having a major goal, like a common enemy, would attract both players wanting to participate, and people who want to ruin their fun. You can't have freeroam AND proper mission objectives at the same time.

 

Now, do I support the idea of having more co-op activities? Absolutely! Heists was the first and only update that not only encouraged people to play together, but has left a long lasting impression on the community. As profitable as I/E is, for example, its public session nature achieved the exact opposite, giving people a valid reason to play solo, where's no cheaters and griefers.

Lowriders update introduced few missions, all of them fun for the most part, but poorly executed, allowing unprepared players to start them, and then die over and over again. Yet, once you pass the first two or three, they can be really, really enjoyable.

The key is, neither of them takes place in public sessions, where someone from the outside can interfere and ruin the fun for those who try to complete them. Session consists only of participants, having the same goal.

 

That's something I'm looking for in this game - objectives, goals, reasons to actually play it and cooperate with other like-minded players. Once I've got more money than I'd ever need, completed Criminal Mastermind and all contact missions, GTA Online became empty and boring to me. I've just burned out after doing them countless times over and over again throughout last months. Yet, R* has put emphasis on PvP and money gambling in freeroam (special cargo, IE, bikers, gunrunning, smuggling), changing the direction of the game, leaving it completely different from what it used to be, and what this franchise is (was?) all about.

 

Give me co-op activities, pretty please, but nothing involving this entire cursed freeroam I'm sick and tired of. Proper missions, preferably telling a mini storyline, like heists or Lamar's lowridering, leading somewhere, to a bigger outcome. More worthless, ultra repetitive tasks, like supply runs for bunkers and biker clubs, or cargo sourcing for warehouses and hangars won't revive my interest and love for this game, and so won't more freemode events.

Tbh when any crew is in a session it tends to be them vs the lobby

So you want Gang Attacks... that few people seem to do anymore...

Or, Lester distract cops (which always ended up with some dick shooting up anyone in the circle - so PvE isn't what all players want).

I agree, co-op is way better. i'd love a mode in which all the players in session have to fight against some sort of a foreign army invasion or in a civil war (could be both rebels or police force, it depends). Few vehicles, few lives, just a brutal war across the whole map.

For example, the city could finally tire of the constant destruction caused by the players, so either the military or Merrywether move in and place the city under lock-down. Military roadblocks, restricted air-space where every aircraft would be pursued by military jets. Players would have to gang up or just cause enough mayhem for the military to leave.

You can't walk out of your apartment without tripping over some ankle-less, black jogger wearing, 4-binocular BP-helmeted, face-painted, sniper-shuffling, Lester-calling, ghost-orging K/D queen dancing around a sticky bomb. Or some K/D queen hiding in a Hydra. Or some K/D queen riding an Oppressor like it's a hot guy with a massive penis gliding over the sunset.

Spawning across the entire map would not be possible given the issues GTA has when around 10 cops spawn in to a single location. It would need to be a localised event and in that case, what is described would be a gang attack.
