So, Smuggler's Run added this thing where there's an official flight formation mechanic. You get into formation with some friends flying, and then you're supposed to go faster, and (according to some people) your aircraft is repaired. I just wondered some things about it.

Does it actually repair your aircraft? If so, can it repair it to being good as new, or is there a cut-off point? Can it repair something massively damaged, with smoke pouring out of its engines? How fast does it repair?

Oh, and a big one - does it work with helicopters as well as planes?

My thinking is that this could be quite good for dealing with explosive snipers, if it works like I think it might.

Does anyone have any videos of it in action?

I only had a chance to see it on some clickbait youtuber. He was flying a bombushka with one engine smoking and the other completely stopped and it was completely repaired after some seconds.
I tryed to test it a bit and noticed that it also regenerate your character health/armor.
Ungortunately it doesn't seem to work with helicopters

Someone posted a screenshot in Formation mode, and it did indeed say (your) Health, Armour and the plane's damage are repaired. Can't remember where though.

Would be nice if this could be used to repair delivery vehicles...

Why not? Can't this be used with mogul or the bombushka delivery?

Might speed up otherwise slow flights too.

Ah, that's a shame. Groups of helicopters could've been really cool.

Me and a friend tried it out, First we stole two Lazers, then I carefully damaged his before activating "flight formation". Now, his Lazer was burning before entering the ring, and after a few sec it was just smoking, however we flew like that for a couple of mins but his Lazer never got fully repaired. We stopped after his engine stopped working (while he was in the formation, I might add) and he crashed.

Sadly, no matter what I've tried, it doesn't work with helicopters.

Oh, and we didn't try with slower aircrafts either.

Exactly. I wonder why they have to be so restrictive about stuff like this

You know how when planes fly in a V formation, one side can be longer than the other?  You know why that is?

Because there are more planes on that side.

Do you know why everyone who lives around the Boot Hill Cemetery aren't allowed to be buried in it?

Because they're not dead yet.

Can confirm, it heals airplanes:

kWJuWDN.png

My Malotok was heavily damaged. Engine dead, black smoke, going down like a rock.

Luckly my friend got close to me and after couple seconds my plane started working again, just before I crashed.

Did a bit of formation flying yesterday, as an assistant.
It heals you, armor, and the plane.
It doesn't work with choppers.
The CEO has to be leader.
Your speed adapts to the one in front.
You have to stay in a big circle behind the leader to keep in activated.

I wish R* could implement another system for Savage(and probably Valkyrie/Annihilator/Cargobob)

4 players=
-1 pilot
-1 weapon operator
-2 crew guys(sitting on sides), one would have the mecano role.

If you get the 2 crew guys, and land on Earth, it autorepairs your Savage.(simulating the mecano operating on real life Mi-24). That would be more realistic than spawning and respawning sh*t over and over, even if in first place the mecano is supposed to repair very critical damages, not repairing the helico because some random NPC with a Uzi smoked it or human player fired a few Marksman rounds on it.

Imo that would give incentive for peoples to use big helicos supposed to be gunships instead spawning Hydra/Buzzard, more teamplay, more collective feeling, more immersion...etc.

This gives me flashbacks about Battlefield 4 where 1 pilot runs Little Bird and 2 other guys are sitting on it's wings and repairs it in mid air.

because two invincible hunters might be a bit much?

the landing to repair thing would be great. in fact why not just add a battlefield style repair tool? it wouldn't be out of place imo. far more realistic than registering as an mc, getting your oppressor and driving to a new hunter.

you should have to be outside the vehicle on foot so you can't have an invincible apc/ helicopter.

Hunters are never too much. They wouldn't be invincible anyway, just able to repair lol.

Oh well anyway, going to the hangar will have to do.

They pretty much have this now. Land near a personal aircraft spawn point and either MC your chopper away or get far enough away from it to call a personal car. Return to the spawn point and call the personal aircraft back. It'll be fully healed and reloaded.

You just gotta know where the spawn points are. There is a personal aircraft spawn point map floating around the internet.

i know. that's my point, they should just let us equip a repair tool (also a melee weapon) instead of dicking about in menus

So it repaired my health, but not the plane's when I tried.

Nobody has mentioned the speed increase. Does that work?

I tried speeding up a mogul in the sell mission with my Hydra, and no matter what we did it couldn't keep up, even if i waited until it was next to me before i started using throttle
