Just looking at the events page on the R* site... seems we have special offers on things related to Smugglers Run again.. Last week we had x2 $ & RP for hangar sales, this week I'm seeing 25% off the hangar workshop, 25% off aircraft weapons, 25% off aircraft liveries.. I won't count the double $ & RP on the new adversary mode as they always seem to do that for new ones, but I have a feeling that while the new planes, helis & hangars ect may be exciting, they're not as exciting as they should have been, could I take a wild guess here & say that it could be a mix of the drawn out supply runs & the fact they didn't add the PvE type missions like we had with I/E & GR?

This is by no means a dig at R* just constructive criticism...

Interested to hear your opinions.

the bombuska is sh*t because of the explosive rifle. useless in missions too.

so the only thing you could use it for is invite only vip work. i think i'll just save 6 mil and not do that.

Well the post was about whether R* has dropped a clanger with smugglers.. not whether the Bombuska is any good... but yeah sure.. you have a good point :D

Can not tell for sure until i see the statistics on it.

Really, i thought the update before this would become the worst received ever, yet they are even breaking records.

It's the dripfeed. It reduces release day hype to spread it out over the following months, so a lot of it is lost. R*'s questionable business practices are to blame for this.

We'll never see the real statistics they have access to.

I do think the dripfeed is beginning to backfire on them- it worked out well when they released a dozen cars at once and drip-fed four more. But locking away vehicles players want for months is abusing the mechanic.

The sheer cost of it all, even though we knew it'd be expensive, is also daunting.

I play the hangar steal missions because I love flying missions. Sick to death of endlesslly driving huge A to B missions on land.

If I get some cash for a sale, it all helps. I gave up grinding so now I just play what I like to do.

This update only has one car and one aircraft that's under $1,000,000.

The clothes are over $8M $11M per character (There's also $3M in new masks this time)

The hangars are $1.2M-$3.25M and has options that can add up to another $2,420,000, and are required for owning any of the new aircraft

Despite these potential expenses, the freeroam-locked business venture that came with them is a joke in comparison with Special Cargo, Biker businesses, Import/Export, and Gunrunning.

I could tell they realized what a joke SR is when they gave us double for the sales only two weeks after the update released. We never had double on a freeroam venture so quick after release (I/E doesn't really count as it came out around the Christmas holidays and you know they had to do something big for that).

Besides, it wasn't even actually double, just 50% more bonuses (http://www.rockstarg...Santos-Snowfall).

In fact, the first time we got DOUBLE on Import/Export was literally a week before Smugglers Run came out and more than EIGHT months after the actual I/E update released. Every other time it was either 25% more or 50% more. That's insane to me. Just proves how much of a monster legit money maker I/E was and still is.

We only got double on Gunrunning sales two MONTHS after its release.

So yeah, point being that Smugglers Run is easily the least profitable venture of the five and even Rockstar knows it. I actually wouldn't mind if it was somewhat entertaining (the steal missions that is) but the majority of them aren't. Only a select very few that are actually really good and stand out. Both gameplay wise and profitability wise this update was a dud.

The good things :

1. No research

2. A space to store our aircrafts

3. Aircraft customization

4. New bombing abilities

5. New countermeasures

6. New planes and helicopters

While on the Bad Side :

1. The payouts are bad for the SR cargo missions

2. You can't have both the personal aircraft (PA) and personal vehicle (PV)  at the same time, which makes the PA features useless, might just use pegassus instead

3. Some of the missions are taking a long long time (seabreeze, titan escort for example)

4. The new aircrafts are great, but it's nothing compared to it's predecessor Hydra is still the best jet, Buzzard still owns the havok, it's just the hunter that's worth to wait

5. The selling missions are a joke, the mogul and bombushka for example

6. Although i like all of the new aircrafts (most of it) but they're completely useless, using it in contact missions? sure you can, but you can't drive to the designated locations because you can't have both PV and PA at the same time!

7. 6 million GTA dollars to respray the lazers? GTFO R*

8. No new upgrades for the pegassus fleet

9. Instead of doing missions like mobile operations we have to grind the crate stealing missions to unlock the discount price

10. The only way to have fun in this update is to kill each other in free roam with the new aircrafts, (since it's pretty complicated to use in missions) and that's not my thing, it's just a complete waste of time

R* give double money for SR in 2 weeks after update doesn't mean it is not doing well.

I didn't see any shark card sell since update, while after GR I got 50~100% bonus sell bombardment across 8 account. They just changed tactic. Bonus on shark card or discount on item, resulted in almost the same purchasing power in terms of real money.

^ There's been plenty of shark card promotions straight after Smugglers Run, especially bonuses tailored to certain people. I've been bombarded with so many of them.

Hell, they're already discounting so many of the items from this update less than a month since it's been out.

And yes, just because it's double so soon after release DOES mean it's not doing well. If they noticed players already making a sufficient amount of money they wouldn't have doubled the amount so quick after the update released. It seemed more like a tactic to get more players to do the cargo steal missions since there were so many complaints all over the web about how poor of a money making method Hangar cargo is. This isn't even an opinion, this is fact.

Even with double money added it wasn't worth doing the missions as they're all so tedious.

When I look at the map in highly populated lobbys I hardly see any planes.

The odd hydra/lazer as usual and helicopters.

I thought the sky would be full of planes, but it's not.

So I think it's safe to say that sr is not very popular.

I don't really think the discounts are in and of themselves an indication that SR is doing poorly. I'd be willing to bet that all of the events are planned out months in advance. Giving modest 25% discounts about a month out is a good way to draw in the late adaptors.

I'd say the same about the bonus payout. I'd assume it was planned far in advance. And again, was done to continue the new content hype and draw in the late adaptors. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the bonus was bumped up to double from an originally planned 25% or 50% bonus.

With that said, it wouldn't be terribly hard to convince me the double SR pay was a knee jerk reaction to poor reception. It did seem odd that the new AM, stunt races, and hangar sales were all on double bonus. Usually it's just an AM and one other thing.

Please Rockstar, make it double payout permanently.
Otherwise, screw it, no more Hangar missions ! It doesn't pay enough for the risk taken in bigger sales.

Selling MC or CEO in populated lobbies is both easier and more rewarding money-wise.

My hangar is at LSIA & that place used to be loaded with people checking out their new toys and hangar. I like the hangar its amazing & my new rogue is pretty sexy, but the missions are... Meh.

There wasn't really anything "fresh" with the missions i did them a few times and they burned out pretty quickly.

They get pretty annoying with the npc's and real players chasing you around every corner, i dont really enjoy the game when im getting chased 24/7 constantly looking at the map for the next threat.

I like to enjoy the ride back to the warehouse/hangar and just relax enjoy the scenery and honk at a few passing friendly players.

We need options for online lobby's like a no-map lobby and no explosive lobbys making it much more exciting with people doing actual detective work in order to find the cargo other players are hauling. Its a whole new experience when you have the map turned off, everyone should try it at least once.

I like it love the new planes just wish they weren't all so expensive.  Payouts for crates needs to be higher $10,000 for what can be 15-20 minutes work per crate + the selling mission is pathetic & yet again sales are all about multi player as a lone wolf can't sell more than a few crates at a time so just doing enough to unlock trade price.

Wouldn't make you popular lol, but you would skip the missions.

I did that yesterday. Not intentionally though. I was minding my own business doing a checkpoint free roam mission when some knucklehead flying out of FZ opened up on me. Didn't hit sh*t mind you but it was the intention that irked me.

So I see he's part of an org and they're on a pickup mission. The one on the roof by the Chinese theatre.

I head into FZ and steal a Laser and head right for them. Dive bomb the he'll out of the area and crash after my third run. Spawn a short distance and they're up on the roof with the cargo on the ground.

Run over, grab a crate and steal a news van. But I know that won't get me back to my hangar and they're behind me in armed aircraft so I call in my insurgent pickup knowing full well it can take a hell of a beating and b-line it to FZ.

They follow and as expected let loose the dogs of war on my ass but I survive and steal the cargo successfully.

That's when the messages start coming. From both of them.

Oooh boy were they peeved. Like, want some fries to go with that salt?

The CEO was like why did you do that? Nothing better to do? I replied that you don't write a check your ass can't cash.

He replied that it was his associate and not him. I said then get mad at your goon, I just finished what he started.

Two votes to kick quickly followed and I was like, yeah this server is a wee bit hostile at the moment so I wished them farewell and changed sessions.

Found a few choice profanity laced messages via the PSN after so I reported him just because.

You reap what you sow, why don't people understand that?

Enh, I dunno if I'd call it a dud, but it certainly doesn't feel as big and/or revolutionary as what came before. For what I paid and what I get out of it I'm satisfied with the hanger from a quality of life perspective. PV aircraft is a nice new convenience that synergizes nicely with other businesses. The business end of the hangar isn't stellar but I'm enjoying mixing them in here and there anyway. It'll be a nice 'savings bond' to slowly fill up with narcotics over time until full, then wait for the next bonus payout event to sell.

What I'm really hoping for is that once the dripfeed is over we might see some Custom upgrades to older vehicles like we got with Bunkers. Visions of Buzzards with countermeasures and armed Besras give me hope to carry on...

Well I'm just looking at the amzing effort they put into the past DLCs with having PvE (Co-Op) style missions.. Lowriders even had cutscenes.. almost a story behind it.. Gunrunning & I/E while there were no cutscenes.. still had some interesting little side missions which in my opinion are tons of fun to play with friends.. So as you can imagine I found Smugglers to be a bit empty without them... I actually thought we were going to get a surprise with the Bombuska where we could invite other players to take part in PvE missions.. that would have atleast justified the cost of the vehicle.. It's not as if R* don't have the budget to create something like this... Heres to hoping the next DLC we have some new PvE missions.. then I will be as happy as Happy Hunter when the Hunter was added to GTA Online ;)

Bombuska run is quite fun.. so long as your team mate don't leave half way through the first round... that's game breaking even with team balance on :O

PS. Not that it would made any odds.. but I did mention some of these things in their feedback

I hate to say it but this is the most fun I've had in gta online since I started playing.
But I hate when they get mad and disconnect, it makes my game freeze lol.

Also I like just flying around the map with different aircraft so for me it's a better dlc than gr or bikers.

Payouts are just a shame. I love the hanger, aircraft, and even the steal/sell missions. But they take so long with such terrible payout that they feel like a waste of time, despite having fun doing them! Therefore I don't bother with the business venture I enjoy the most. For shame R*, for shame!!

Considering the bonus opportunities I've been getting on the loading screens it would seem there fewer smugglers than they anticipated. Don't recall getting 250-500k bonus offers to try any of the other CEO and biker business modes.
