So you're saying if someone doesn't like GTA V then they have bad taste? Sh*t like this is subjective.

I actually do really like the game, it's my 2nd favorite behind IV.

The storyline starts off really strong but towards the end it's kinda all over the place.

The map, while nice, lacks a sense of isolation. The layout could've been better.

The ragdoll physics are a downgrade from IV, but I do like the driving.

It's still a fantastic game, I just had unrealistic expectations and was disappointed.

I like GTA V for what it is, but I don't love it like how I love GTA IV and Vice City.

Most things to do with the story and characters kinda leave a bitter taste in my mouth, but its visuals, details, customising etc are all well done.

V is a good game but most people don't like it because it was a step backwards compared to its predecessor. IV is way better.

Because it hardly lives up to either SA or IV on any fronts. Both games do a lot of things a lot better than V.

I like the game but almost every aspect of it was done better in Rockstar's other games aside from the visuals. And don't even get me started on what Rockstar's done to the series with GTA Online.

I loved Grand Theft Auto V, despite it's writing flaws. It's easily my second favourite GTA game and it's disc had consistently been in my PS4 for days.

Why did majority of member in this forum hated GTA V? Why?

I don't hate GTA V. It was just a disappointment on so many levels. There were way too many feaures that were done better in previous games and they made some stupid decisions with GTA V.

- you can't buy safehouses

- no vigilante, no gang fights, no drug dealing, no burglaries

- only 1 safehouse outside the city

- pointless and uninteresting business ownership

- no arena activities (bloodring, hotring, stunt course)

- the casino, mall, race track, and prison are all unused

- can't enter fast food restaurants or airport terminal

- no crouching

- can't leave car engines running for quick getaways

- can't grab ledges, push people, or pick up objects

- can't target legs to make enemies limp

- can't save cheats

- cops can catch fully modded supercars and make them automatically turn

- terminator cops

- poor map layout (no sense of isolation, circular highway around the map)

- mountains everywhere, but when you try to walk up a little hill you slide down, and if you try to have fun driving and doing jumps on the mountains, you end up dying really quickly.

- too many unrewarding missions and activities that felt like a chore

- no proper destination for aircraft

- then they lied about the SP DLC which caused even more disappointment

I like V. I enjoy driving in V more, it feels responsive and is just more fun for me than driving in IV. I liked the addition of first person mode and I use it quite a bit. I like the map because it's more diverse, as opposed to nothing but 90 degree angle city streets. Shooting mechanics are better than in the past. I like the characters, the missions and overall it is a good game. I still play V almost daily.

Yeah, compared to IV it's a bit more over the top and not as realistic or gritty, but in the end it's a video game. Video games don't have to be realistic, they have to be fun. Opinions are of course subjective, and I know a lot of people enjoy the way IV did things better. I agree that car deformation could be better and some of the euphoria dynamic animations could be less stiff.

I would not say it's hated on here by many, no. It is certainly heavily criticised by many on here, yes. And there are a number of valid reasons for this.

We've been over this many times before, so without going into too much detail, I still think V is a good game with a lot to offer the player, but it ultimately failed to fully realise and utilize it's huge potential, and it still contained too many flaws and shortcomings to merit being superior over it's best predecessors. Thus, as a result, many people on here (including myself) found it hugely disappointing, considering all the great hype that surrounded it's pre-relase.

Personally, I don't hate V, but at the same time I certainly do not think highly of it in the same way I did with III, VC, SA and to a lesser extent, IV.

Actually considering last part of sentence the replace of second "can't" with "can" makes sense, english grammar is forgotten little bit

Pretty much. When VI comes out people will hate it because it's not V.

Depends on how much VI gets screwed up. If we get a "CoD campaign" where the plot is 20 missions max and then Online hogs the spotlight, you bet people will clamor V. But if we get a nice balance with tons of worthwhile stuff to do then maybe not. We'll just have to see.

No sh*t Sherlock, who would ever have thought up the brand new concept of personal preference ? You know, the one where some people don't like what other people like, even if they make up a majority ??

I personally believe GTA V is objectively better than all other GTA's when you consider them as a whole.

I also think there is still a lot of room to add some of the other small things that made the other GTA's awesome, for example entering burger shot (I imagine this can be easily done the same way online apartments, mobile operation centers, etc.. are done). I'm still hoping for them to expand on the hand to hand system and bring fighting similar to SA or GTA 4 (a man can dream!).

The focus for GTA V seems to be online and I think that's where some of the hate comes from.

The GTA V campaign in comparison to the other GTA campaigns, is another story...

I enjoyed the GTA V campaign but no where near as much as I did GTA 3 or SA.

These are just my opinions though.

On another note, Rockstar has never let me down on their games. It's pretty clear from the quality and the time taken to make GTA, that they pour their heart and souls into this thing. So even if you think GTA V is the worst game ever in gaming history, Id bet anyone taking a good look at it would realize how beautiful this game is. I really hope that one day I too will be apart of an amazing team that develops and delivers games or products as awesome as GTA.

I like GTA V. I just don't play it very often, mainly due to the increase in the installation size vs. the content available on such a huge map, and the amount of updates single player is getting vs. Online, which is quite frankly demotivating.

GTA SA still remains the No. 1 choice for all my GTA needs; complete in all respects - enjoyment, replayability, and content.

I don't care about the graphics, nor physics, and therefore I'm not dependent on those two factors to decide how great games are. Additionally, when it comes to GTA, I even care less whether or not the story is a more serious one, but more about what enjoyment I can get. I certainly don't like overly exhausting, and boring storylines ( see: GTA IV ) with literally no surprise, variety, enjoyment, nor unpredictability in how the story moves forward.

So, I really didn't expect GTA V's story to blow my mind away, but it was still fun.

What I really liked about GTA V was the variety seen in the game, from map, peds to customization features, modified driving ( thankfully, less realistic!!!), solid and smooth controls, upgraded facial and overall character's looks and animations, challenging wanted system ( yeah, it can be annoying, but I have adapted myself to be able to evade them using a couple of tactics, and understanding of the open ended map and bigger environment, which is a strong point of the map ), flying across the entire map to immerse in the gorgeous looking views from the sky, an engaging story, if you manage to keep your expectations low ( esp. the scenes involving Trevor, and Lamar ), the option to switch to first person view, and lastly, the PC version running smoothly with the added advantage of installing mods ( though, there are still not as many interesting mods as I hoped for ).

I think GTA V could have achieved the heights of absolute greatness had there been no Online. Unfortunately, the Single player falls short to play the game more often and religiously the way I'm playing GTA SA for the past 10 years, without any DLC or Online requirements.

The biggest achievement for GTA V has been in bringing FUN back into GTA which was completely abandoned in 2008.
