Description:

Classic AXIS is a modification that try to improve the gameplay experience by adding a "better" camera movement to GTA: Vice City.

This mod has been created first for GTALCS2VP total conversion, but i decided to release it as a simple asi so everyone can use it on their game.

The modification is on early stage of development, you can encouter some bugs while playing.

It's recommended to select the "Classic Mode" to activate auto aiming.

 

Features:

Possibility to move the camera.

Possibility to let the player walk in 4 directions.

Possibility to move camera while driving a vehicle.

Possibility to change camera mode.

Added simple aiming instead 1st person view while aiming with some weapons.

I dunno if you want bug reports, since it's quite early in stage of development but still: you can't change camera mode on game, only on keyboard and aiming with shotgun is broken now (Tommy shooting in wrong direction)

 

otherwise great mod. finally someone did it :D

The only complain I have right now is the fact that the car camera is positioned differently from the original one, but other than that it's pretty good :)

That's a side effect of using player position instead vehicle position while driving.

What you mean with "can't change camera mode on game"?

putting camera closer or futher from car/player. (like with v/home? button on keyboard)

Also cars lacks autocentering camera and also you can see thru car at some angles.

It's already possible to cycle through 3 camera modes by pressing "v" or "select". I implemented this to avoid this kind of bugs while driving big trucks.

Are you sure that it doesn't work? Maybe you just mapped the cycle button with another key.

it works on keyboard, but not on gamepad with ginput

I have been waiting for this for ages man omg

 

Only bug i found is that there is no crosshair, at first i thought it was only because of Manual Aiming mod by ThirteenAG, but it's like that on a clean game, guess that's why you said to use classic controls.

Is still the vehicle camera uncentered? And, works with GInput?

I can't test it by myself at the moment.

The camera is a little to the side no big deal, think it works with GInput. You can select 3 camera angles on foot and in vehicle: the close one, medium, and far. Also one thing i have noticed is that Tommy's afk animations that were only seen on classic controls are now there even with standard controls.

Amazing, but the vehicle camera needs to be fixed. I know that the camera is following the player but is annoying when you are in a vehicle.

It only cycle while using "Classic Mode" or in vehicle by default.

Man about god damn time this got done, it took the modding community 15 damn years to get it done even tho it was on everyones head, you know it was people, is a good day.

Very awesome mode. Is this compatible with 16:9 widescreen mod?

You can't jump backwards (you face the camera but jump away) nor can you jump left or right (you face the proper way but jump towards the camera).

That minor issue aside, great work.

Update: Shooting with any weapon can be really difficult as the game wants to fire where Tommy is facing rather than where the camera is positioned. Auto-aiming alleviates this except for the shotgun which just fires into the air.

You should add crosshair for aiming

 

Also you should fix helicoper camera. Because i cant drive helicopter because of moving forward changing camera angle in helicopter

I tested the mod and it's really great but i found a problem the camera position of while bike making wheelie it looks weird check it out, i cant post a screenshoot i am at work.

The first words I said when I was born were "I want to orbit camera in GTA Vice City".

Sadly it's unable to manual aim weapons...

Also walk/drive while the camera is rotated is almost impossible, the camera tries to turn to the side where it is going.
