The V-65 Molotok

"Say what you like about the Reds, but they knew a thing or two about brutalitst military chic. The V-65 Molotok has been reproduced in juntas and dictatorships right across the developing world, and that's not just because of its lethal efficiency, or its complete indifference to the comfort and safety of the pilot. It's because when you look this merciless the battle's won before you've even taken off."

Based on the real life MiG-15 with design cues from the F-86 Sabre and MiG-15S version is a Korean war era fighter jet that is remembered for it's resilience and fearful looks. Flying high above Los Santos equipped with Homing Missiles, Drop Tanks and countermeasures such as flares and chaff Grenades this little devil packs more than a punch, if you can get anywhere near it that is.

The V-65 is based of a cross of the MiG 19 and the Shenyang J-6...

All.of these planes are literally flawless mixtures of their inspirations, the Rustler and this baby are perfect examples. We haven't seen as much of the Hunter, so here's hoping it is as well made as this and the Rustler!

I don't think that's the name... all posted pictures have "DIK" in the url.

Huh, I thought it was based on the earlier mig 15 jet.

Yup. Kinda tricky to tell if it's more MiG-15 or MiG-17 without a proper look from multiple angles (might well fudge a vague approximation somewhere right down the middle, knowing R*... ;)), but I'm inclined to say more 15, just because it looks shorter, and with the more tapered rear of the fuselage.

In fact, it's a MiG-17.

MiG-15/15bis vs 17:

The 17 had afterburners (and this one does have, see trailer).

The 17 had Rocket pods (and this one too)

MiG-17 also had a difference on wings: to go faster, they had to reduce the aspect ratio without reducing wing span too much, then, the solution was to increase swept angle from 35 (MiG-15) to 45 degress. The speed increased too, from 1089 (SL) to more than 1100kph.

And we can see, while the 15 had only 2 fins at each wing (to reduce the flow going to wingtips), the 17 had 3, like this one.

But, it has a MiG-19 tail - anyway doesn't make it a MiG-19, as we can see by dimensions and proportions.

So please rename it to MiG-17.

Definitely 17 wings, and yeah, the rear's more 19. Still reckon the fuselage/canopy proportions/curves are closer to the 'stubby' look of the 15, compared to the straighter, longer shapes of the 17.

But overall, that'd mean that R*'s basically done an Elegy Retro with it - a seamless blend of three generations of the same vehicle lineage. And it looks like they've also done the same with the new Escort-based car. That's videogame vehicle design done right, IMO - better to do that than simply kludging together a bunch of unrelated vehicles and calling it a day. :p

The 17 had afterburners (and this one does have, see trailer).

So does the Besra (L-39 Albatros), it's just the way R*'s decided to do high-performance turbine engines.

Still, we haven't had too much of a glimpse at it, so until we get a proper look at it in-game, then it's really anyone's guess.

I think it's just another R* styled mix and match vehicles between the MiG 15 17 & 19 which leaning more towards the 17 cause of the afterburner and wings, but still it's a great plane from the korean war :D

I just hope there will be an option to set the custom number for our planes like the original MiG

LMAO, are they for real? Molotok is a great name for the plane, actually, means both Hammer and a gratifical slang term.
This one is gonna be my favourite craft alone because of this.

Unless Hunter will stand more than 6 snowballs.

Very curious why they specifically mentioned the drop tanks, since they already exist cosmetically on the Lazer.

So uh... drop tanks are an optional add on? Does this mean it's going to have limited fuel?

Definitely 17 wings, and yeah, the rear's more 19. Still reckon the fuselage/canopy proportions/curves are closer to the 'stubby' look of the 15, compared to the straighter, longer shapes of the 17.

But overall, that'd mean that R*'s basically done an Elegy Retro with it - a seamless blend of three generations of the same vehicle lineage. And it looks like they've also done the same with the new Escort-based car. That's videogame vehicle design done right, IMO - better to do that than simply kludging together a bunch of unrelated vehicles and calling it a day. :p

Well, comparing these images:

MiG-15

http://stressandsucc...3/04/Mig-15.jpg

MiG-17

http://www.skytamer....2/2000/0171.jpg

honestly I can not tell any difference between their canopies.

Their fuselage was basically the same - except by the fact MiG-17 was a bit longer than 15/15bis, and by wing mounts of course. I wish they had give it T-tail, which is something unique, but still very good, specially the cockpit and its colors.

At least it isn't another dreadful F-35-tail jet fighter. I'll take this small victory.

It's less the shape of the canopy (because yeah, it's pretty much the same on both), more how it looks in relation to the overall length of the fuselage. It looks smaller on the 17, simply because the 17's longer than the 15. And regarding the fuselage, it's not just that the 17 is longer, but also the 15 curves in to a more rounded, tapered point at the rear, while the 17 is largely straight on top, with a slighter curve up underneath at the end:

Looks to me like the shorter fuselage of the 15, the wing of the 17, and tail of the 19.

Or like most GTA vehicles, it's a mix of multiple real ones.

Pretty much what I said a few posts up - they've basically done for the earlier MiGs what they did with the Elegy Retro (body of an R32, front largely from an R33, rear of an R34).

I really prefer it when they do it like that - you get an original game version of the real thing that's still recognisable, and doesn't have jarring elements* taken from something weird and unrelated.

*I know some folk don't like the modern afterburner effect on it, but eh, that's a small price to pay, IMO! ;)

So, it seems it has a non-explosive pair of cannons, but can be fitted with a pair of rocket pods that actually fire homing missiles as fast as a Savage (and seem to be unlimited capacity)... not that I'm not enjoying it but...

... did someone at R* literally try to make this thing's weapon loadout as polar opposite to the real thing as they could?
