I'm kinda hoping I can replicate this

IIRC there is no livery similar to that one. Most of them are military related. Its been a while since I've used it on PC, so I might be wrong.

The "Tin Pickle Hunter" livery bothers me because the US Navy never operated P-51 Mustangs.  They did test them and actually found them suitable for carrier operations and after WWII and during the Korean War they (under the USAAC, then USAF) were used around navy positions as long-loiter point-defense fighters.

Also, Rockstar continues to mix and match US roundels from different branches and different eras :r*:

The red box "kill marks" could be interpreted as swastika-less Nazi flags, Imperial Japanese flags, or maybe even alternate-history soviet flags.  The marks in front of those look like bombing or even torpedo tallies.

Well in this case you can learn something new. It doesn't´t mean Military - the translation into english would be air force.

But Luftwaffe refers to the German air force.

So I wondered if there are German air force livers. I guess he meant what you said, simply Air Force (english and US). Luftwaffe just confused me.

If I´m wrong somebody from Germany could correct me.

Edit. Herby a link:

I mean that this aircraft, out of all the smugglers aircraft, has liveries that are the most reminiscent of ww2 German combat aircraft paint jobs. Look at livery link a few posts up and scroll down to the bottom 2. Shrapnel catcher comes straight off a Stuka and desert rat is a direct reference to Rommel.

The "Desert Rats" were the British 7th Armoured Division, who fought against Rommel, but I'll agree that the basic desert camo pattern has more in keeping with Me-109s than allied aircraft in that theatre; the yellow spiral spinner on the RAF-liveried Nokotas is also a very German feature. A little research tells me that the green w/yellow underside is less Stuka, and more "allied aircraft captured and test-flown by the Nazis", although there are plenty of pictures of RAF planes with a similar scheme; they all seem to be experimental aircraft, trainers or target tugs. Of course, the markings are for completely the wrong side, but I guess accurate Nazi liveries are frowned upon these days.

Well thats embarrassing, I was thinking of desert fox. And I have the gall to consider myself a ww2 history buff... In any case, the luftwaffe motifs obviously absent in the starling seem pretty strongly displaced onto the nakota, at least to my suspect eyeballs. Could be my imagination, but the rear view looks a lot like a 109 as well.

While switching from my male to female character, it put me in a solo public lobby. I took a chance to do a hangar source mission, hoping to fly something like the Hunter again.

I got the Nokota mission instead, and I was having the time of my life taking on those Merryweather Lazers.

My female character's default action is always "facepalm," but after that mission was over, I think she would have given two thumbs up if I had thought to try it. :)

Looking forward to this one.
