Be happy.

Higher Resolutions are not going to make the Crude Graphics of the GTA San Andreas look any better.

If you have the original DVD v1 game, then installing the Official Patch V1.01 will add more resolutions to the game and fix many problems, too.

The catch is that the Official Patch V1.01 also removes the ability to apply Modifications to the game.

Pirated (Warez/Torrents) games are something else altogether. If you have one of those ask at the site of download.

Haven't you hear about Silentpatch? It is mandatory for GTA SA on PC.

Such resolution in such an old and outdated game is horrible. Nothing like PS2 resolution and/or graphics.

The games Graphics are Crude, No higher resolution is going to make it look better, or more importantly make the Game PLAY better.

800 x 400 is the games natural resolution. anything higher is merely to allow the Monitor to run at its best resolution.

I have a 1080p and the picture is no better than when it ran on my old analog TV.

^^ i know that, just pointing out the irony in calling it "old and outdated" followed by naming a even worst system

wiescreen resolution is still more pleasant than 800x400. The game oes look better on higher resolution. If you're telling me resolution oesn''t make difference then might as well run it in 16 bit color too - something exclusive to PC version.

I was just trying to say that 1080p doesn't fit in a 2004 game (which, deal with the fact that it's outdated and it's old but gold) and by the way it's set in a 90s trend.

I don't think the game has a "natural" resolution, and that is certainly not 400 pixels tall. Most of the picture is 3D and can be rendered into arbitrary output dimensions. The menu fonts and intro screen are still sharp in 1024*768 (title_pc_US resolution is 1024 by 1024). If there is any sense in describing a game's resolution as "natural" then that would be one where the HUD isn't scaled or blurred.

By rendering at higher output size there is less pixel swimming on road surfaces and hedges that lack mip-maps. Several 1990s games run at resolutions greater than the PS2 console and televisions, for example Duke3D in VESA modes, with the effect of calming down shimmering of distant objects (no concept of mipmapping in a software renderer).

My V1.0 DVD game supports all resolutions presented by the video card (for example 1024*640). I guess there are lower and upper bounds.
