My computer is running Windows 10, Intel quad-core i5-6500 CPU processor running @3.20GHz, 8GB of RAM, and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB graphics card.

For about a month now, GTA V has been crashing during loading. At first, it was just after the selection screen (singleplayer, multiplayer, etc.). It would load for a few seconds after I chose whatever I wanted to play, and then crash. I tried everything forums suggested (deleting new apps, deleting rpf files, repairing GTA, updating drivers). I finally decided I'd had enough and went ahead to delete and reinstall the game. Unfortunately for me, the game now crashes instantly. Literally as soon as the window opens, it goes black (as if to start the first opening cutscene) and then it crashes. So now I've tried even more things. Such as safe mode, reinstalling DirectX, deleting more apps and running on low resolutions. Nothing is working. Couldn't figure out how to attach files so here is my full log:

Go to your documents library, and navigate through to "Rockstar Games\GTA V". Delete "settings.xml", then navigate into the "profiles" folder and then into the folder contained in there (the name is different for everyone). In this folder, you should find some files - "pc_settings.bin" and "cfg.dat". Delete those two files.

Does this change anything?

Has the problem just suddenly started happening, or has it started happening after something happened (e.g. Windows update, game update, driver update, doing something with mods, etc.)?

Come to think of it, around the time I started trying to play again, I bought a new Wi-Fi adapter. Could the drivers have caused issues?

It seems unlikely, but it's entirely possible. Try removing the card and uninstalling its drivers and trying again.

Hmm, didn't work. I'm at a loss, completely confused as to why this happened. Other than the adapter, I don't remember doing anything else...

Try booting into safe mode and trying again. I don't think it'll work since only the essential drivers for Windows to work are loaded while in safe mode, but it's worth trying. If it works, then you know that it's a driver issue.

I tried it the first time with minimal priveledges (no wifi) and it said I needed to verify to play in offline mode. So, I changed it to be in safe mode with network priveledges and the same crash happened.

I'm not sure what it could be then. Would you be alright with reinstalling Windows? I think this is a pretty deep-rooted issue.

Well ther issue could be hidden within those files which is why he asked if you'd be willing to do a full reboot of your computer back to Factory Settings, you don't want to have to do all that only to use the same files and issue keeps coming up, You can save your game settings and saves via Documents > Social Club but nothing else with the game and also make sure you backup any importance files/pictures ect before doing the reboot.

When doing the reset make sure you select Remove All Files & Do a Full Reset select the option where it says "As if you are going to sell/give this computer away

I've had to reset my computer to fix a bug and it's a pain in the ass to reinstall everything but it was worth it in the long run

Windows 10 has the option to keep your files, however I'm not really sure how it works. I highly recommend completely formatting your drives, after backing up all your personal data to a USB to transfer back onto your PC later.
