Ever been to Spain? Ever been to Gibraltar? Ever been to Morocco?

Well, I believe I've found quite an interesting place for a story to develop, interesting cast of characters, music, scenery, but also the darker and dirty places. It's quite a nice mix. I'll be using the real life names of these locations, because I can't think of better names, apart from that, I'll get on with it!

Bienvenida to Gibraltar, La Linea, Algeciras, Los Barrios, Cadiz, Malaga, Marbella, Velez-Malaga, Tangier, Ceuta, and many, many more in GTA's first INTERCONTINENTAL game. Europe and Africa?

It's a place where there's stark contrasts not a far drive away. Sun, sex, pretty lights at night, fantastic nightlife on the Spanish side and in Morroc Tangier, sleepy areas aren't far, as well as good radios (bar talk radios, they need the gta magic), beautiful woman, plenty of high end cars if you know where to find them. Plenty of money to be made smuggling drugs from the Morrocan and Gibraltar borders, (and if technical limits aren't a worry, add in Portugal?). Smuggle in cars from Morroc on high-risk high rewards missions. Airports all over the place. Military bases? Gibraltar's one. Spains got one nearby too. Motorways? Spains got it! Dirt tracks to drive, too! Lovely countryside in Morroc and Spain. There are lots of Nightclubs, Casinos, Yachts, Hotels, they've got it all in wealthy parts!

So how are the people there? Moroccan's are friendly, but their often trying to work for tips, Spaniards are nice, but noisy and they can be bitches. Brits are only friendly if they feel you deserve it. Gibraltarians are a lot like the Brits but friendlier and  have a different accent.

Change of scene? So you're done with the Spanish vibe? Visit Gib or Morroc, you'll feel the difference. There is a difference atmosphere wise, culturally and architecturally in each country. As well as economically, stuff's cheaper in Morroc and more expensive in Gib.

Bare in mind the small towns you're going to find here, lots of easter eggs and charming little villages to find up near Malaga. Funnily enough, an alleged drug smuggler was found in Sedella, one of these charming little villages. Not far from Sedella is a much larger town of Competa, which has a lot of brits there, but everyone knows a little bit of English or Spanish depending on where they're from.

Dare to test your heist skills with Gibraltar? There's plenty of police there, very safe place in comparison to La Linea across the border. (Let's ignore the fact it's the most densely fortified place in Europe) Imagine going through the man made tunnels into the artificial reef escaping towards Moroccan waters. Imagine hang gliding off of Gib and flying in and out the tunnels with skill.
Or messing around the with Ape's you can find there. And of course, don't forget to BMX off of it.

Velez-Malaga and La Linea are dodgy places, but they aren't far from high end places. La linea next to Gib, and you can drive to Marbella from Velez-Malaga pretty easily and quickly taking the motorway. You could work your way up the ranks and seize control of a city, changing it for better or worse, for example. With these close by, yet variable characteristics, there are a lot of different ways this could be used for a plot.

Here's how I've more or less imagined the map size, google maps isn't actually showing all the airports in these areas, there's quite a few more, including one in Tangier, and Gibraltar has one, obviously.

There's definitely potential there. The concept you have written sounds cool. While I can't see Rockstar leaving America altogether as a location if they could have two locations for a Gta title, that would be great. One map in America and one outside America.

Rockstar seems to think GTA is America, so my hopes aren't exactly high. The whole one map in America and one out America could be cool too, a play of America from a different countries perspective might also work although I'm not sure about that.

... Why? And besides, it's not just Spain, it's Morocco and Gibraltar too.

Never going to happen. GTA will never leave America for so many obvious reasons, and all these people wishing for these funky GTA games to take place in not so iconic countries will forever be disappointed. Rockstar isn't that stupid to take GTA away from America. One of the big things that made GTA so successful is the way Rockstar parodies American culture. Nobody wants to see a parody of French, or Spanish or Japanese or Martian culture or any other culture.

You know the number one holiday destination for brits? It's Spain. Where's R* based at? Scotland! Part of Britain! They'd love the vacation there ;) But seriously, do you genuinely believe that America is the only iconic country in the world? Iconic for what? For being the only country that GTA should be willing to parody? "

Except for the French, the Spanish, The Japanese and Martians, and people who are part of the culture or enjoy it's relevance and want to see it and interact with it in a whole new way.

I think gta online should one day have it so people can go to different countries like this but i dont think it should happen for a main game.

You people don't understand what I'm saying. So, in clear language, one of the Housers stated that GTA is to be set within American borders only and that GTA won't leave America . This makes sense because the cities which GTA are based in are iconic for their cultures and crime history, and thus are a perfect match for the GTA franchise, whereas locations outside USA wouldn't be able to maintain the Grand theft auto experience. My comment was merely emphasizing this statement. Look it up. Google is your friend.

I disagree. They would be able to keep the feel with other crime cultures too. All it would really do is add some extra flavour.

Errrrm your point ?? What does this prove exactly bro ?? ......Just because all those protagonists have origins in countries outside of America, it DOES NOT automatically mean GTA is guaranteed to work in locations in countries outside of America. If you really thought this was a great example to support your argument, then you're seriously deluded, what a harebrained idea. Mad funny though lol.

Disagree all you want. The Houser Brothers themselves officially stated several times in interviews that GTA is not suited to locations outside of the USA, and there are no plans to place GTA in a non-American setting. I'd rather agree with the guys who created it, thank you.

Many people have seemed to like the parodies of other cultures too.

I know a lot of people whose first choices for a city to visit are the European ones (such as Paris or Munich).

Of course some people will wanna see that in GTA, but they make up an extremely small minority. I'm very sure a majority of the GTA fan base would not want to see it set outside of America, especially not in Spain, Morocco, or Gibraltar like you suggested earlier !

That's supposed to provide appeal for GTA to be set in those locations ? For real ? Romantic weekends in relatively low-crime cities with scenic, safe streets is supposed to sway your idea ? Ha ha      .............and whats the deal with Bayern Munich to support your point ? I'm mystified (and highly amused)

The only places outside the US that I can see working are Mexico and Canada. Canada more because it's very similar to the US

Same possibilitys go for a Las Venturas and Vice City setting. I'll prefer to hear more English like in GTA 4.
