I'd say it's NFS version of Vegas, Seattle has way more skyscrapers. Also some of these buildings look like casinos, plus that 350Z pic is in a rocky area with a desert like filter.

for all we know, it could be a 'small' version of the entire American West Coast.

from down in Vegas to LA through San Francisco up to Wash.

 

games are getting bigger all the time.

that could easily explain California plates in Nevada, aside from just being leftover assets.

It'll be interesting to see what comes of this Need For Speed title. Las Vegas was featured rather briefly in The Run (which even I thought was a let-down), if anything, this could further spark

more interest in the GTA community for a new Las Venturas. The last Need For Speed was too much of a social media-based game rather than a true racing game for my tastes.

Knowing EA, they'll definitely throw in some California elements (I can't think of really any game they've made since 2000 that wasn't based on a California-esque setting in some sort).

Or NFS2017 is gonna be set in a (somewhat) purely fictional city that takes major influences from Seattle and Las Vegas, and is located in California, because NEVER MIND THERE ARE 49 MORE STATES IN THE UNITED STATES, WE WILL PUT IT INTO CALIFORNIA, BECAUSE WANT TO BE 9023094TH DRIVING VIDEO GAME SET IN CALI.

Wow man, chillout.

California, New York, Las Vegas and Florida are very influential places in popular culture, hence why they are used -and abused- to death in games, movies, etc.

We'll just have to wait and see. June 2nd is very close (this friday), so we may get more info, best-case scenario some sort of gameplay or trailer.

It better have a car list on par with Forza Horizon 3 if they want to compete lol. Desert setting alone won`t do.

 

Still great to hear that they pulled their heads out of their ass. Finally adding SP and non required net connection.

While that would be interesting, I don't think Ghost needs to implement old features to make a newer game good. I think it's time to just move forward.

That's a lot to ask for. FH3's car list is huuuge and hugely diverse.

A lot of FH3s cars are filler and majority of people won't drive them. The only thing it's good for is using the number as a selling point, and clearly people are falling for it.  :lol:

 

Quality over quantity for me. Forza just has the same cars year after year, with current models added in with the obligatory Forza front splitter, tow hook, and rear wing options.

Moving forward made NFS suck in comparison in the past decade. I think we need some return to the roots. Either original or street racing.


Street racing has been the focus of the past few NFS games, albeit in different settings, so I'm not really sure what you're on about. The series will never continue grow in order to use it's full potential if we keep trying to replicate older games.

Yeah, that's what we've seen lately. "Full potential".

 

Street racing has been the focus of the past few NFS games, albeit in different settings, so I'm not really sure what you're on about.

MW2 and NFS 2015 were poor attempts. HP3 and Rivals weren't street racing.

f*ck a huge pool of cars! What this game needs is proper tuning. I like that they
did with decals in 2015, but the few other tuning options were a letdown. I'd like to see maybe 50 cars or so with a huge amount of options instead. Maybe roughly the same amount as in 2015, the variety of cars was quite decent.

Yeah I don't need f*cktons of cars when I have my favorite 4 or 5 that I like pumping my time and cash in to. However, I wouldn't turn my nose up at a lot of cars, increases the chances of finding something I really love.

The trailer dropped, so it is Vegas based town. The 350Z has a "Fortune Valley" plate, nothing says Vegas like fortune.

And yea... this is different for NFS, kinda refreshing. Still sad it ain't classic like NFS but hey, at least proper super cars are back.

Seems though like they added bits and pieces from other games, Forza and The Crew mainly.

Also day and night cycle is back.

Seems like they've come up with a decent plot. I couldn't give less f*cks if they bite off this and that out of F&F and some other games. It seems to me the game's about a group of car thieves that got screwed over by a chick. We didn't have that before did we?

I got anxious seeing that guy jumping out of the car and climbing the trailer. Got reminded of The Run and got a headache, let's hope we stay in the car throughout the game!

After watching the trailer 2 times, I see high potential for this game. Just don't base everything around a short plot (*sigh the run*), give us a decent variety of cars, a huuge amount of tuning options, enough races outside of the story and this might become one of the greatest NFS games so far and the strong comeback we all desperately wait for.

I just hope we don't have the 'On-rails' driving from 2015, which was basically a copy of Burnout's handling.

 

And apparently, cars can be tuned to racing, drag and off-roading specs. The Crew, anyone?

I'm actually glad they seem to have done a decent job which is 1000x better than 2015. They didn't just try to recreate the nostalgia that came after previous titles, but went beyond with something different for the series. The dialogue seems a tad bit cringey but at least it doesn't try to take itself as seriously as 2015.

 

I really hope this turns out nicely and the series can become that overly optimistic vision I held in my head as 8 year old me when the original most wanted came out.

You can find abandoned cars throughout the map and tune them literally from scrap. I wonder how deep that's supposed to be though.
I love the idea of finding some rusty oldtimer in the desert and turning it into something slick.

If they keep the promises they've mentioned then it seems that it's going to be a very rewarding experience.


Edit: Another thing, "you and your crew are reunited" means what? A crew we've seen in a previous game?

Hmm, the trailer for Need for Speed: Payback gave me some Need for Speed: The Run flashbacks. And they really are taking notes from Forza and the Crew. Let's just hope the handling isn't like the previous NFS games since Hot Pursuit 2010, the handling in those games felt like Burnout, which isn't a bad thing, but I kinda preferred the handling from games like Underground 1, Underground 2, Most Wanted and Carbon. And it's nice how there's a day and night system. I just hope it's dynamic, and that the weather isn't stuck to whatever location like in the 2015 game.
