True. San Fierro and Liberty Cities are the only cities in GTA Series that look like actual cities.

I think that depends on what you define as "city." Los Santos looks the way it does because Los Angeles does too.

If you tell someone LA isn't a real city, they'll think you're crazy.

new-lacity.PNG

You can see most of the skyscrapers are clustered in that one area, and the buildings around it are much smaller.

los-angeles.jpg

I've shown V to my dad before, who lived in LA for around 30 years, and he thought it look a hell of a lot like the real LA.

Obviously, everyone's going to have their own opinion, but saying that only San Fierro and Liberty City look like actual cities is a bit harsh imho.

LS only has like 5 or 6 skypscrapers downtown, of course it LOOKS like LA, but it's tiny compared to it. I've already counted 13+ buildings in that picture.

Obviously, I was speaking about a fictional city set in the universe of Grand Theft Auto franchise, Los Santos.

What? I was talking about LS (Los Santos) not real Los Angeles, so why would even compare?

Because LS is modeled after LA.

Liberty City in GTA 4
Not for the actual city itself but more for the annoying Browny yellow dull color of it.

TBOGT took care of that kinda. It's not the best, but at least everything isn't a shade of brown.

San Fierro didn't left an impact for me.

Neither did the desert or the counties in SA.

I guess that's a problem of having more than one city in a GTA

TBOGT was great, the city felt much more alive. I was never a fan of IV's desaturated, gloomy atmosphere. Although, then again, I suppose that serves the story.

Definitely Vice Ciy, especially in Vice City Stories.

Too small, too low-res, too crappy & lots of empty spaces.

TBOGT's bright and cheery saturation makes the city look weird IMO like it's trying desperately to add a Vice City kind of vibe. GTA IV's use of browns, greys and overall desaturation go along way to aid its atmosphere. Personally I always have the colours drawn out as much as possible.

I've tried playing it with max settings where it looks more like TBOGT and I can't stand it honestly.

Exactly , it really seems like TBOGT was trying to have that Vice City kinda vibe to it with those colors & I agree it did make it feel really weird actually.

The brown & greys for both games was kind of annoying , but I got use to it

I like the atmosphere in GTA IV better then GTA V's , feels a lot more alive.

This. I know they were going for the 'gritty' atmosphere but went overboard with the desaturation. But the details are very good and it is beautiful with mods.

Still it's not my least favourite, that would be LC in LC Stories and in TBoGT.

To be fair the console versions of IV do look pretty sh*t depending on the tv you use. I have IV on 360 and it looks great on one tv, but all blurry and sh*t on another, for no apparent reason. I've seen plenty of people complain about this.

They should buy a decent TV then. It's always looked great on my Samsung 40" LCD. ;)

But this is getting a bit too far off the topic of the actual cities.

Dis' true. Back when I was using my sh*t LG TV everything IV was horrible, but when I started using my parents' TV the city started to 'suck less' than before.

Still though: doesn't change the fact that its the No.1 "disgusting-est" city in my eyes.

Change your Display Settings to Widescreen if it is blurry.

Anyway, III/LCS Liberty City really looked like Super Mario game. The buildings seem to be made of plastic blocks & their features made em worse.

That's why they decided to make a New Gen LC in order to put of that 60s LC.

I think that worse city outta the whole series is Anywhere City ... Worse time setting and boring map, but it was good back in 1999, now I just look at that map and its so terrible and as I said before the time zone was a terrible idea with futuristic setting.

I didn't like vice city in vcs because there was no nightlife. there was no nightclub or stripclub dammit! the gameplay and empire building made up for that though

I can't think of a city in the franchise that I disliked but if I had to pick it would be LC in LCS just because everything was so blocky and rough looking, It looks like a PS1 game but even that I don't dislike.

Ironically the game actually looks better on the sh*ttier of my two TV's. :p

But OT: I feel like Alderny gets overlooked a lot because people just lump it in with Liberty City. Personally, I actually like Alderny more than LC.

san fierro. the map was dull and it had the most unmemorable missions. as soon as i killed ryder, i had no motivation to stay in san fierro and could not wait to move on to the next map.

sorry ten-a-penny.
