GTA III: Stories is a conversion that attempts to bring the feeling of Liberty City Stories on III Engine by adding stuff from LCS like Maps, Buildings, Objects, Vehicles, Interiors, Peds and some features. We won't be converting each and every aspect of the game, this includes features that are not yet supported by the GTA III Engine.

  • Interiors and access to them.
  • Peds & Player Models.

1. Any planned Missions?
A: None as of now. My objective is to port the whole map first before getting major stuff working.

2. Functional Motorbikes?
A: Motorbikes won't be added. Just cars.

3. Will there be Safehouses?
A: Yes, and they can be saved into. This includes saving in Interiors. Garages will be functional.

Just going to say here that i will help out with creating this mod in anyway i can.

Vehicles / Skins / Map / HUD ...

Was messing around with the script and the first Mission is in progress. I've some map issues with it. Rest is fine for now. The Mission is functional.

Added new fonts and basically menu restyle HUD and Radar to be done.

Next on the list Tony Cipriani Skin for gta 3.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I appreciate everyone who took time to congratulate me on the progress personally and via Discord. With over 20+ people requesting for an early preview, we are releasing a small package. It contains some basic stuff.
 
Beta 1:
  • Some converted Maps (Rusty's, Dolls House, Paulie's Revenue Bar, Lighthouse & Saint Marks Safehouse)
  • All common GTA III Cars Converted from LCS
  • Proper handling and Car Colors attached
  • LCS Wheel Textures
  • Textures and Effects (Glass, Reflections, Weather, Coronas etc)
  • ENB based PS2 Graphics
  • Misc stuff like HUD, Fonts, Radar & Menu
  • IIIAG's Widescreen fix, required
I would suggest running the game on highest supported settings by your PC. Thanks to Redreaper666, Jinx. & NerdFox for their help & support in the progress so far.
 
Warning: Do not delete the txd.img or txd.dir. Just replace the GTAIII files with ours. The beta is packaged in 3 parts. You need to download all three and extract them as one.

Ever since LCS and VCS came out, I wanted them so badly to be available on PCs... Decade passed, plenty of fan projects were started and then cancelled, yet we still don't have a working, semi-complete "port" of LCS. First there was no tools allowing the community to convert anything from PS2 to PC, then some were created, however requiring lots of time to be used, and finally, when Android/iOS versions were released, there was no team willing to work on such total conversion.

I'm glad to see this project. Quite a lot, in fact, and I hope it'll grow bigger, better and more complete. Choice of GTA III being your mod's foundation is surprising, though. It's nice to see something different, comparing to usual SA/IV/V projects, but nonetheless, GTA III has its limitations, and lacks some important gameplay elements which were introduced later on - like motorbikes.

Also, I wonder - did you encounter any problems while working on the first mission? If I recall, VCS: PCE team had hard time with audio files' length, not mentioning, coding everything from the scratch got to be a pain. Hope LCS will be more friendly when it comes to cutting it open, gutting it out and then reassembling on a different engine :)

Wish you luck with the project - it's something I certainly wait for, and have been since a decade.

Well, thank you Nihilist. I didn't have much issues during the first mission. It's far from complete and the code is really simply right now. There are some map issues that spawn ATM. GTA III has limitations but it's still the closest engine in terms of map and while I don't plan on porting everything, I hope to get the map working along with the proper vehicle and ped paths. Right now, we're still looking for a way to map clean the III Models and once that works we'll be good to go with the rest.

It's like stepping back to 2009, if you don't mind me asking, why are you opting to use ENB and using Majestic's Map tool? You do know LCS Mobile contains all the files needed to port this over right? With their original names, TXD's, etc? Just run them through the modern tools we have and THEN work on correcting that instead, you'll clear out the map and vehicles in no time that way and then just focus on adapting the peds and player models to GTA3's skeleton system.

The reason I used ENB was because I haven't converted all textures for now. I'm aware of the LCS Mobile files. I've been suggested this quite a few times. I'm looking into those files every day. I'm not sure how to place the map files by map cleaning GTA III right now. I believe the IDs are hardcoded which I'm trying to figure a way of bypassing. Thank you for the valuable words again. Still messing around with the Mobile files. I'll get it working once I figure a way of implementing the map.

I ported the Callahan Bridge last night from the LCS Mobile Version. The video is a simple walkthrough/excerpt just like the Driving Mr. Leone Mission.
