Question: Does the "Trash Dash" insta-pass add percentage for all three islands, or just Portland? If it's the latter, can we grind this to get percentage for the other islands?

There are version differences. Bike Salesman is most likely PSP only and might not work on all of its versions.

There is probably more to it but I should take a break from GTA stuff for school stuff. \o/

Heh, I messed around with the LCS theme during gameplay (what a glitch :lol:) a bit more. The extra step with "Noodle Punk" in NOskillx's video is unnecessary. Duping just "Vigilante" with "The Scrapyard Challenge" works fine. Make sure you don't have the radio muted, though.

 

Also, I'm trying to find if a Ghost Town glitch exists in LCS, but to no success. It is possible in San Andreas (in fact, there are ways to permanently disable traffic in this game), Vice City (no OM0 needed, though), and I found a way to bring back the same Ghost Town from Vice City to VCS (OM0 needed), albeit only limited to the first island, but haven't had much luck with LCS. I tried to start a course inside interiors, hoping to get teleported outside with no traffic, but nothing happened! The only different result was inside the ship; soon after starting a course, the ship disappeared, and I fell into the ocean. Screw you, Toni...

Personally, I have another question: If you dupe and pass something like "Vigilante" twice, do you get double extra reward, Armour in this case? It would be cool to have 200% Armour or 300% Health.

I dont really thinks it works. Passing a side mission works only if its not already passed. Passing it twice is impossible, even if you would find a way to dupe it.

Oh, I thought it might work, because in VCS, during my desperate attempts to find a PP conversion, I duped "Paramedic" with itself, but the weird thing about this is, when I transferred both patients to the Hospital, I got the message "Level 2 passed" (I bypassed Level one). So I thought about activating "Vigilante" (before completing it, obviously), and after the Rampage timer runs out, activate it again, and kill both criminals, and maybe get double Armour in the end.

You skip one level in lcs when you manage to dupe those missions. The first one. You dont get double rewards tho.

That way of duping missions to skip levels works in many sidemissions, but also doesn't work in others. With this kind of dupe, you can't really get double rewards from mission pass because of the way the script was programmed

In the first few lines we can see a few lines related to finishing a level, to be precise, the monetary reward. [email protected] is the local variable that holds the level value and we can see that if a threat is eliminated, it checks if $214 == 0. $214 is the "has vigilante been completed before" variable, and we can see that it is set to 1 after the first instance passes, which means the second instance won't be able to run the rest of the code

Just to put this here, if you're struggling with "Destroy X vehicles in 2 minutes" Rampages, either because traffic magically disappears, or the weapon is not very good (Molotovs), or you suck at aiming and are too incompetent to obtain a Rhino, there is a much easier way to complete them with OM0. Dupe the Rampage with "Firefighter", and once you fail the side mission, you'll see the "vehicles destroyed" counter go up by 1. This is because upon failing/cancelling "Firefighter", the target vehicles are blown up, therefore counting as destroyed, and you can use this to your advantage by continuously activating and cancelling the side mission until the Rampage is passed.

If you make the LCS theme play in-game with "Vigilante"+"Scrapyard Challenge", or use Lennart -'s OM0 method to obtain the race vehicles, you can't start "Vigilante" again until you save and reload. Keep that in mind for the latter, especially if you're going for multiple OM0 stuff at once (conversions). Also, if you obtain a vehicle of choice from the races via OM0, it always adds an extra attempt for some reason, even if you have completed the race in question beforehand.

 

EDIT: Hmm,what's the highest amount of money again? Because I tried this glitch again with "Calm Before the Storm" and "Taxi Driver", and while it worked, the cash doesn't seem to go over $999999999. How did you make it billions?

 

In any case, is there any other way to get maximum money? I remember Patrick1994 said something about a "See the Sight Before Your Flight" insta-pass a while ago, which causes cash to overflow, but he didn't go into details.

That STSBYF thing (which is also an instapass, btw) is emu-only.

I don't know what you mean by inconsistent. If you mean after starting "Taxi Driver", the game behaves differently in different parts of the mission, then yes. If you mean different outcomes during the same parts, no.

 

- When the helicopter first appears and you start "Taxi Driver", "Calm Before the Storm" breaks, and Maverick falls down with no other side effects. On PS2, however, if you don't quickly aim with a Sniper or Camera, Maverick keeps flying until it's out of sight, and Toni goes into "Drunk Mode".

- When you're spotted by the Triads on the roof and are instructed to kill them, if you jump down the stairs, enter your Taxi, and start "Taxi Driver", mission breaks, and cash starts to overflow until it hits the maximum value. If you spend money after being maxxed out, it doesn't overflow back, however.

 

Different results in different parts, but during a certain part of the mission, you get the same outcome every time. What I asked above was how to make more than a billion, and if it's possible to make cash overflow with another mission.

 

Anyway, for the record, a very inconsistent mission is "Caught in the Act". We use "Taxi Driver" again in this mission, this time during the "Just Business"-wannabe cutscene (the boat stunt with the explosions) to obtain the AP/EC Maverick, but it crashes like crazy. Sometimes it works though, but only on PSP; according to NOskillx, it always crashes on PS2. Other side missions don't work at all. Only "Taxi Driver". We tried to look into this issue a while ago, taking different parameters into account, but none of us came to a solid conclusion as to why it happens, or how to get around it.

 

In general, both AP/EC Mavericks in the "Stories" games are f*cking cursed. The same thing happens in VCS with "Accidents Will Happen" + "Vigilante", albeit slightly less glitchy on the respective platforms, even emulators.

More over about Calm Before Storm Maverick, if you use Taxi Side Mission on mobile results will be same as on psp, strange, isnt Mobile supposed to be PS2 port?

Well, I somehow killed a part of my Save File for good. You thought everything goes away after saving and reloading, right? WRONG. I have a few permanent side effects in the stats:

 

Most time left on "Wong Side of the Track" - 23488102:24

"Bumps And Grinds" Course 10 Fastest lap - 0:1027080

 

Moreover, beating the time trials again does NOT fix the issue, even with better times than both the original and glitched ones. Also, when scrolling down, the moment the "Wong Side of the Track" stat appears, the framerate drops to sh*t, and the emulator lags like hell until I scroll down enough for the stat to disappear. Fast Forward does not work. Strangely, the performance decrease does not happen when I view the Course 10 record. Thankfully it doesn't affect the rest of the gameplay as far as I can see, and I rarely look at the stats. This is why I noticed it just now, so I have no idea when and where it occured.

 

@Bender. Don't forget some tweaks were made for Mobile (less side mission Levels required for 100%, no spike strips etc.), thus altered code, and a different offset by even just one byte can make a big difference.

Saving does not make Your save like brand new, if it would it should remove om0 vehicle as well, where it doesnt.
Saving and reloading only kills mission script and do a 'mission clean up' command, not a restore what was before mission, i think.

I think that we still need confirmation for the Paramedic instapass. All has been tested except for cancelling Paramedic, which might crash (just try all ten trials; it might not crash immediately but rather once the mission fails; then you can just cancel it yet again).


Preparation:

Preparation:
1. Get B&G menu with Trial 5 unlocked so that you can cancel Paramedic with it after the instapass.
​2. Start a rampage so that you can get om0 during Ragin' RC.
 
1. Enter the Ragin' RC van.
2. Exit it once the fade starts (the fade before the mission starts).
3. Enter Ambulance and start Paramedic, it instapasses.
4. Wait for 10 seconds.
5. Cancel Paramedic by starting Time Trial 5.

Step 4 can be optimized, just play around with it. There is a "wait 5000" after the IP, so I guess you need to wait 5s, but maybe there is more to it.

I don't think I had any hand in this IP, other than reading code to determine which time trial might work to cancel it - and I made the table of available wait offsets, which is a huge help finding instapasses.

Over at speedrun.com we have our own OM0 thread. People have tested the Paramedic thing and while it is a nuisance they got it to work. For casuals, it is faster to just do the mission, tbh.

I will look for LCS instapasses for all kinds different versions, eventually. Maybe in a month, maybe in a year. Probably I will only check for them for missions longer than 4:00 minutes, or so.

This is a step-by-step guide to instapass Firefighter using Bumps & Grinds. It is untested, though!

I) Get B&G menu
1) get rampage and FF submission ( FF starts and cancels -> om0 rampage)
2) hold sub-mission again
3) start B&G menu
4) rampage fails ( -> B&G with om0 but no control over Toni)
5) release button (now you have control over Toni, too )
6) exit bike

II) Do instapass
This involves some timing I have not tested. FF needs to start (talking about when the mission starts, not when you release the button) between 0 and 600 ms after "2" is displayed in the countdown. FF starts after the fade to black with "Firefighter" on the screen is completed (screen completely black), which is ~1.3 seconds after releasing the sub-mission button.
1) Get something to set om0 with - e.g. an om0 rampage.
2) Start Time Trial number 3 or 4 (both work).
Note: there is a slim chance that this does not set onmission to 1. If so, you do not need a rampage.
3) Set om0 (e.g. rampage running out).
4) Start FF as soon as "3" is displayed on the screen. With this, you have ~300 ms of leeway in both directions (you can start 350 ms earlier or 250 ms later).

There is a mobile v2.1+ only Taxi Driver instapass. \o/
 
Unfortunately, this version does not support the BIke Salesman instapass, but Noodles, Pizza, and Paramedic are supported. I have not looked into Firefighter, yet, but I am optimistic about it.
 
Start Taxi Driver during "Don in 60 Seconds" after skipping the cutscene with the cops.
 
Problem: a huge(?) despawn area that is used at some unknown point, which despawns the taxi. Solution: get into your taxi in that mini cutscene of Toni walking with the mission name displayed -> despawn area does nothing
 
Steps:
1. Get B&G menu.
2. Get om0 rampage.
3. Park your taxi here: 87Ip79v.png
4. Start "Don in 60 Seconds" with 10s left on the rampage timer (10? o.O).
5. During the mini-cutscene of Toni walking with the mission name displayed, gain control by cancelling B&G and enter the taxi (Edit: "wait a short moment before you cancel B&G" - Lennart).
- needs to happen now to "protect" it from despawning
- using triangle to cancel is faster than circle (if that is even possible on mobile)
6. Skip the cutscenes (one X button press skips the dialog with JD and the cops arrival cutscene).
7. Shortly afterwards (200-600ms) trigger Taxi Driver.

I'd like to add that Cancling B & G imeadetly causes the walking cutscene to just play normally.
So waiting a short moment before you cancle B&G to enter the Taxi is mandatory.

Ok, I edited that in.

 

In general, you should test and practice on emu with save states to get the execution down, then switch to the real deal to make sure it works with your exact installed version, too, on legit hardware. ^^

 

In this case you do not get any interesting result on PPSSPP, I think - maybe even a crash. However, pressing a button with a ~half second window is not something you need to practice for. ^^
