I first installed GTA IV on my PC and after some missions, i got some problems with my savegames and i was sugested to instal a xlife.dll into my GTA IV directory.

After i done that, i started playing and now im almost at the end of the game, but i would like to return using GFWL so i can work on my archivments and play the multiplayer.

I saw someone saying just to delete the Xlife.dll from GTA IV directory, and it would be ok. The problem is after i do that, i cannot load my games. Says: "Load Failed, please check your hard drive and try again"

What can i do so i can work on the archivments and play GTA IV MP without having to start a new game?

The savefile location wothout xlive will be something like: C:/ Users/ Username/ Appdata / Roaming/ Rockstar Games/ Grand theft auto iv.
Copy your savefiles to that location and try the game. Don't forget to replace username with the name on your pc and that you can see hidden files

i have them in that directory. And the save games are shown then i press "load game". The problem is that error that appears: Load Failed, please check your hard drive and try again

Is it possible, once those savegames where made using xlife, they are with some kind of compatibility that an original copy of GTA IV doesnt read?

Sorry to break the news, but maybe you can't play with gfwl after removing xlive . I had the same problem as well and I had to reinstall the game and start from the beginning. Try taking a backup of your save files, reinstall the game and place the save files in the save game location?

Sadly, you can't. You can only load your own savegames made on your own profile if you're using GFWL. You're gonna have to start a new game if you want achievements, basically.

HOWEVER, I think you can still succeed if you do this:
Start a new game WITHOUT XLIVE and save it as soon as you pass the first mission.
Open up the folder "C:\Users\YOUR USER\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames"
Look for the one where you saved your new game, and look for the user ID (user_*RANDOM NUMERS*).

Then, reinstall XLIVE, change the xuid in the xlive.ini to the numbers from the previous user ID.
Reload your old game, then save it again. After that, uninstall xlive.ini and try loading the game from the unmodded version.

If that does not work, nothing will.

@lol232, I'm sure he's using listener's XLive that doesn't have an option to change the xuid like the one from here has, also the listener's one moves the savegames folder from AppData to Documents (see the topic).
