Following a section doesn't notify me of new posts

Best Answer Kirsty, 08 April 2017 - 08:37 PM

I was thinking perhaps you'd just reached the maximum stored notifications - which is 50 for members - but that can't be the case if you don't get that many.

I looked into the topics further - it seems the ones you didn't get notified for were actually moved there from another section because the OP didn't create them in the right place; both were moved from the main GTA Online section. So it must be that you only get notifications if the topic is originally created in the section(s) you follow. It seems kind of silly, but that might be the limits of the forum software unfortunately. Perhaps it'll be fixed when we upgrade. Go to the full post

Apologies for the duplicate thread; the old one was deleted for some reason before I found a solution.

So I'm following these sections:

http://gtaforums.com/forum/292-

http://gtaforums.com/forum/233-

http://gtaforums.com/forum/137-

http://gtaforums.com/forum/297-

However, I only get notifications for some of the threads that are posted in there.

Here are a few examples of threads that I did get notified to:

http://gtaforums.com/topic/884248-

http://gtaforums.com/topic/884937-

http://gtaforums.com/topic/884945-

And here are some examples of threads that I did not get notified to:

http://gtaforums.com/topic/884909-

http://gtaforums.com/topic/884853-

So what's the deal? I've double-checked my notification settings, and I should be getting notifications for every thread posted in the sections I linked. Maybe it's some kind of notification threshold to prevent me getting like 50 notifications a day? If so, how can I disable this?

Thanks in advance.

When you followed the forum, did you select "instantly" for notifications?

When you come online, how many unread notifications do you typically have?

Yes, instantly.

When I come online everyday I can have like 3-8 notifications. Sometimes more than 10.

Aw, that's annoying. Crossing my fingers for that fix, then :). Thanks.
