GTA IV randomly crashing

My specs are not the issue since the game used to run just fine a year ago on the same rig.

What happens is when I would do anything (e.g. drive a car), the game would just randomly freeze, the audio would go into a loop and the PC would do a black screen.

Did the latest patch f*ck the game up?

Any mods? Maybe try verifying the game integrity?

Zero mods. I tried verifying the game integrity but it did nothing.

Try a different patch, preferably 7. If that doesn't work, try reinstalling the game.

Yeah, I'll give patch 7 a shot. Sadly though, the game runs much better on patch 8 for me, literally the only issue is crashing.

Alright, updating Windows 10 is what fixed it. The 10th anniversary update fixed this.
