For some unkown reason it's the Johnson House in Grove Street. It has so much history - CJ grew up in that house along side with his brother(s) and sister. His mother was killed inside the house and it gives off that ghost vibe.

See, I don't understand how anywhere can be creepy when people just look through the game files and prove that there's nothing there.

The whole Bigfoot stuff in SA was fun, until it was debunked, at which point there was nothing creepy about those areas at all. I mean, Rockstar did this whole serial killer mystery in V, and yet never actually included the guy.

Still remains eerie.

Great thread. Most of the places have already but I'll still mention the subways in GTA IV. I've used the NYC subways when I visited it back in the early 2000s so it just kinda reminds me of that.

Underwater in GTA V. The deeper you go, the darker it gets, and to add salt to the wound, there's always the crush depth. And to make things worse, I believe that on last-gen, the submarines don't have access to radio stations, so you're pretty much stuck with listening to the mysterious undersea sounds.

There was a few creepy things in S.A. I think in the Back O' Beyond there was that creepy old battered car that would roll down the hill and when you got up to it nobody was in it.

Also the rusty old wheelchair abandoned on the wooden pier at the lack in the same area.

Some of the country hicks people in the cultish farm freaked me out too.

The ghost car thing is genuinely spooky if it wasn't spoiled for you like it wasn't for me and you're just having a look around and thing just rolls out of nowhere. Makes you also think that some kidnappers may have taken someone and then rolled the car down hill before they drove off.

Casino in IV was cool too.

V didn't have any spooky places. It all seemed a bit too sunny and light-hearted. I mean the cult was kind of creepy but still too comical. You never felt isolated in V. There was always something going on. A magic cop nearby or something. San Andreas nailed true-wilderness back of beyond vibe. The towering trees, the spooky fog. I genuinely felt lost in some parts of SA's map.

I hope if they make a new GTA they consider making some wilderness parts spooky. But not in a comical way. Genuinely spooky. Heck even use some cliches like the squeeky, rusty swing, leaves blowing in the wind, feint rustling and breaking of branches sounds. Areas where cops don't come quickly. Areas where you think, crap, some sh*t could go down here and there's not a soul to report etc.

Not to go off topic but that's another reason why an 80's or 90's GTA would be exciting again. Not everyone was hooked up with cell phones and a second away from calling cops.

I think Firefly Island deserves a mention here. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm glad R* kept it abandoned instead of a functioning amusement park like people were hoping it would be.

It's creepy as hell late at night when it's foggy. Baron Saturday's fun park in Mafia III only rivals it for creep factor IMO. Like seriously it always feels spooky even during the day.

I just imagine that someone's probably been killed on one of the rides over the years.

In VC there was this apartment covered in blood at Ocean Beach as a kid I always got really scared from there.

And San Andreas's map was always very scary for me. Because of a zombie mod I played. I was really young though.

Oh and last of all I'm scared from entire GTA III and Wavves's Nine is God song. Here's the story, almost 4 years ago I was playing GTA 3's that first bank heist mission, obviously while listening to that song. That night some thieves with knives broke into our house and stole many things valuable. From that day on I've never played GTA 3 or listened to that song again. Though, I'd really like to finish GTA 3 and Nine is God was one of my favorite songs :p

Blue Hell for III, LCS psp , VCS, SA remastered. The trail effect (IIRC) really scares me and I always get frightened everytime I fall into blue hell. However for every GTA that doesn't have any trail effect, I don't scared

Really haven't discovered any GTA game more than GTA San Andreas. Even though imo GTA 4 is more fun to play.
Basically I'd say any countryside or desert places in the game are scary (at night ofc).
Then there's:
The Johnson's House itself at night, feels very creepy with the sound of the atmosphere.
Fisher's Lagoon: That wheelchair tho
El Castillo Del Diablo: Ofc, the ghost town..
Al Dea Maldava
Blueberry Acres
Can't remember the name of those few locations with those wood cabin where there's blood all over the floor? I find it really creepy..
and finally The Farm in Flint Country.. where it is considered that the Epsilon meetings take place, mainly because of the glowing blue lights coming from the windows in the farm house....

El Castillo Del Diablo, I always got scared when I am near here and I always go there with heavy weapons or tank.
