If you gonna do Las venturas like you said up there ^ then you should add area 69 (area 51) in the middle :p

Of course. But i think its too early to talk about Las Venturas ^^

Lets fokus on San Fierro ^^

For Test Purposes i imported the Golden Gate Street Lamp to GTA V

The Lamp has a Smooth Shading, so the Polygons can not be seen.

And i know, the Lamp lighting is normally Yellow. I will change it later.

Here's the thing. Think about GTA V. GTA V map was developed by a few hundred proffesional and very talented environment artists over the span of 6 years working atleast 50h every week. What you have listed is impossible for you. When I was young I thought i could do that too, but then the reality kicks in. You will probably abandon the mod with only a few buildings and props done. What I would recommend highly, is to join an existing mod or try to create something very small. Lets say an island with a few buildings, but even that will be pretty hard and will take a lot of time.

I know what you mean, but that is the thing.

So many Peoples say, it is impossible, because it is to hard.

But you have to go through, to make this reality!

I worked for a MTA Server, where we had a big concept, we though it is impossible, because it was so a big concept, but we never give up.

And, we did it.

(It is the MTA Server eXo Reallife)

And i have a lot of experience in Modeling too.

I know a lot about the Topology, And that is what makes a good modeller.

If i look to the GTA V Models, all they have made, i can remake.

GTA V has not so professional or hard modelled models, because it must be Optimized for games.

To say the map was in development for 6 years is quite a bit exaggerated. In my opinion there were less than 50 people working on the map and it most likely took a year or two to push all the work into the final stages. However, I do agree this task is ridiculously big for a single person. It's much better to set a small goal at first and then eventually expand the idea.

All I have to say is good luck with your project, even though it would be much better to do this in a team and to set a small goal.

Thanks, but yeah, i know its really hard to make something like that alone. But i love to modelling.

So I see no reason to give up now

And i dont think that 50 People were working on the map

If you look closely to the Map, you will found some of mistakes that i cant explain, why there are there

X9VksRel.png

And some holes that not was merged.

This is only 10 Seconds to fix, and i don´t think, that 50 Peoples doesn't found this mistake :p

But yeah, i dont will blame rockstar, because it is a big Map, and this is not very noticeable.

And i have a Small Goal.

To finish the Gant Bridge :p

I have my feet a little wet in AAA development, and I can say for sure, that when developing a game this big, problems like these are in the bottom of the list. With GTAV i can only assume that their list of these "little" problems was in the thousands. You can say that this thing took 10 seconds, but in reality it probably took atleast 5 or more minutes. You simply can't get a brief, find the model in the archive, open it, fix the problem without causing more problems, export it and look for it in the game in 10 seconds. And when there are litterally thousands of these, you can't fix every one of it.

It is no exagerattion. It was 6 years of development. and from what i know, it was around ~70 rockstar north developers that were devoted to the map and interior modeling. And we dont really know how many other rockstar and outsourcing studios helped to develop the map and the props. Also, in the end they worked insane hours to finish the game. I know a guy who worked there and quit the game development all together, because of how cruel the crunch for GTAV was.

All i'm saying that its just not real to do something like that. When I was starting out, modeling and modding after school, i thought that i could easily model something like vice city or san andreas. Now after working on real games, I understand how stupid that was. So im just friendly asking to rethink of what you are capable of. Reallisticaly calculate how much hundreds or even thousands of GTAV-like models would take time.

I'm just seeing someone who is doing my old mistakes, so i tought i could help.

You would way more helpfull for a team that has something and really needs that one modeler. And even you would have something finished to show :)

I will now say the last words on this subject. I will not give up, even if it is difficult and takes a long time, I do the whole in my leisure time, where I have nothing to do. Even if it takes 5 years, I'll always be able to work a bit on the mod.

Who is a good modeller, can write to me of course, and support me. I think maybe someone will help me, but only when i can show more.

I will find surely in the future someone that can help me , who has said that I will complete the whole map alone?

So, and back to topic, i have finished the Ropes on the Bridge on 2 Sides.

This is looking good man, rather than plan the entire thing though isn't it easier just aiming for smaller sections. Then when that's done consider doing more? I see so many addon's and TC's fail because no matter how much is done they continuously feel they're barely making a dent in their final vision.

Other than that, can't complain if you DO manage what you've set out! :^:

Of course it is not so Optimally to start with the gant bridge, but when I have finished it, I will work on smaller things like San Francisco styled houses, mountains etc ..

There is not much to do at the gant bridge anymore, except for the textures I have not yet begun, but textures can wait.

IMO after you do the bridge you should work on Oakland or make up a town north of the bridge because A) a town like Oakland would be more feasible to complete by one person than the whole of San Francisco and B) even if you can't do San Francisco, be it because you can't finish it or any other reason, at least Oakland would be playable, as opposed to a whole unfinished city.

Spoiler

Yea I know it's the Oakland from Watch Dogs 2 but f*ck it if Rockstar likes to condense their sh*t then a GTA they would make set in the Bay Area would look like that too.

I will make Oakland a bit different, because i need some space for the Bay Train (Reference to the Bart Train in the Bay Area) Watch Dogs 2 doesnt have this Train.

And I want to inform myself about oakland ^^

But yeah, you are right, that it will be a lot easier. But after the Gant Bridge i will model Paradiso (Presidio) And maybe in couple of days, I may not work alone on the mod, because i have someone who is talented in modelling too and wants to help me.

If there's anything you need to know about Oakland, it's pretty much the ghettos from V but more spread out. If anything, the gangbanging fanatics from V will love you for doing it considering how badly it was done in V.

But ya, if you wanna take some of the models I gave you and slum them up or anything for Oakland have at it.
