What version of gta v on pc is better?

Best Answer HalfOfAKebab, 17 March 2017 - 05:36 PM

There's no big difference. It's just preference.

Here's some advantages to both:

Steam:

• Achievements

• Track playing time

• Sharing screenshots

• Cannot be lost or damaged

• Can easily verify game cache in case of corrupt game files

• More centralised with your other games (assuming you use Steam for other games)

Physical:

• Saves you downloading the whole game, which is good for slow connections or data caps

• Collectible aspect

• For low-end systems, not having Steam running might be an advantage so as to squeeze out those extra FPS

• One less layer of DRM

I have physical retail disc and honestly I don't think either is better. Digital has conveniences of being portable, but physical has convenience of not needing the internet to download.

The performance of both are the same and contain the same content. Social Club is still required for both.

You are correct. Game achievements (the little green squares) are done through social club, so both versions have them. Unless steam has it's own unique achievements?

• Can easily verify game cache in case of corrupt game files

There is command for this on Warehouse version too

• Sharing screenshots

You can add warehouse version as non steam app, take screenshots and upload them on steam too

• Cannot be lost or damaged

Warehouse/retail version is still tied to your Social Club account and you can download game from there too.
