S.W.A.T by Roxie
The question to ask when playing Roxie's 'S.W.A.T' is it fun and good?
My answers is as follows: Is it fun? yes. Is it good? No.
The mission is basically a mind-less action piece where you a dropped into an area with tons of enemies and little to
no cover. There is a feeling of progression as you move through the map and slowly wipe out the enemies. There
were parts where you are advised to use stealth but I felt it wasn't necessary since using my gun was faster. Plus,
stealth doesn't have a point since the enemies are already aware of your presence afterwards. The final fight is
Rocket Launcher vs Attack Choppers. If you aren't evasive enough, you'll be blown to bits and forced to replay the
My biggest problem with this mission however is it's lack of story. There is no story to tell. The Los Santos S.W.A.T
randomly attack a motel infested with the Ballas gang. You enter the motel (without any of your team mates) and
just kill Ballas. No character is named, hell no character even speaks! Many things don't make sense, like how did
gangsters acquire military grade weapons? and who are flying the attack choppers? if it's the Ballas, how did they
get two attack choppers?
There was one part though that impressed me. Two ballas jumping out of motel rooms with an explosive barrel between
them. It felt a quick time event. So props for that!
Robbery by Aflien
Aflien's story in Robbery felt a part of something bigger. It is not explained who you are robbing, it isn't even explained who you are but there is this sense of urgency as you escape the Police through the streets of Los Santos. Enemies don't randomly spawn out of thin air but instead they walk, run or drive towards you. There isn't much to note about the story in this mission but it's gameplay was a lot of fun.
There were so many enemies to fight which was entertaining, unfortunately that meant the ending had to be sacrificed due to the limit on actors. Personally I would have reduced the actors during the street scene in order to make a complete ending. Another thing I would have done is also add more objects around the streets to give the 'lively' feel. Since peds and cars are turned off, the streets feel bland in some areas.
But for the rest, the mission is awesome.
