Hi,

I know this is my first post, so Hi.

I've beat GTA SA more than ten times now, on both PC and PS2. I did first play GTA SA when it was "new" in either 2004/5 as I had an older teenage friend (I was in elementary school at the time) who let me play his copy sometimes.

I've gotten into modding a bit, over the years I have tried different mods, but now I am trying to keep my game accurate to the 1992 time period. I only have a few mods now:

1. Hot Coffee
2. Nirvana T-shirt (Nirvana was big then, plus "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was out in 1991 on the "Nevermind" album)

3. I changed the text of "User Track Player" to "Nirvana - Nevermind" and put all the tracks from the Nevermind album in my User Tracks

4. Taxi Mod

5. Gas Station mod (real gas stations)

6. 7-11 Mod (turns 24-7 into 7-11).

I was only born in 1995, so I cannot personally vouch for the accuracy of the game to the time period of 1992, but from what I have seen as in news reports from 1992 and pictures from 1992, of cities, cars, etc it seems to be pretty accurate.

Obviously, a lot of the cars in the game are older, and from the 80's but my family drives a 2006 toyota so, I accept the fact that there's gonna be vehicles from a wide range of years.

Plus, this photo of a parking lot is form 1992, and I do see a lot of similar looking vehicles to the one's in-game:

If any of you are older and remember the year 1992, would you say the portrayal is accurate?

Wow,

I must've singed up for this site almost six years ago and then forgot about it. I was a little surprised at being told "this e-mail is already in use" earlier this hour when attempting to register, but I didn't think the account was created that long ago, thought it was a recent oversight.

Well in the plus side, even newer members are gonna think of me as respectable for being her almost 6 years. :p

Funny thing is, I didn't even notice that until you just mentioned it.

You should try TTDISA mod, its enhance GTA SA storylines with unused dialoges or strings that who makes the game get the 90s ghetto feels. to make it compatible with mods just use modloader. oh and I suggest to change the all GSF to Crips and Ballas to Bloods skin to make the real life ghetto feelings, and search "Hostile Gang Trasher Player Car Cleo" or something like that , lol. it makes the rival gang trashed player car instead shooting directly towards the player. I still got plenty stuff in my mind but I cant write it all since I'm using my phone. lol

[EDIT: Changed title to reflect the actual discussion]

It is a Game set in the year 1992.
You should be aware that Copyright & Trademark laws would require that the publisher obtain License to use the "real" car images.

You are not going to find in the game any realistic (identifiable) reproductions of real automakers designs.

The Cartoon artists may come close but not "Accurate" for this reason.
Many Fans have created Topics to "ID" the various vehicles to "Real", only as Supposition, or Speculation.
Except in the Movies & TV real life people usually own and drive vehicles that are Older than the current year.

The Publisher of the game has no obligation to present the newest or even the accurate depictions for a Fictional Cartoon Product.
As a game at the time it offered the most diverse compilation of vehicles.

So... Yes, it is quite "Accurate for The Game Time."

Yes of course most people are going to be driving older cars, I think I mentioned that in my OP already.

What I meant by "Accurate" is if people playing the game who were around in 92 think that it does remind them of how things looked and felt like in '92, not that everything had to be from 92. Just 92 or before.

For example, if a game was set in the year 2000, having a computer with Windows 10 in game, or with a 2006 Toyota corolla, would be inaccurate for sure.

In 1992 i was 23 i was driving  such cars as a Vauxhall Chevette  Ford Escort , Ford Cortina , the Escort would have been 12 years old and classed as a banger cheap to buy and cheap to run but rusty (lol) moving forward to 2017 im driving a 21 year old Clio a 1996 model. That picture you posted is pretty accurate i lived in Canada from 2007-2013 and even then you  saw a real mix of cars some where mid 1970s american models i was driving a 1994 Jeep Cherokee while my father in law had a brand new Toyota forerunner, My wifes Sisters husband was driving a late 80s Lincoln town car.

Point im trying to make is the time period doesnt always decide what cars people drive, sometimes its what you can afford.

Cool.

So yes, the mix of cars in game, does reflect the mix of cars in real life 1992 then?

I've always wondered how much the map outside of LS was based on the 90s era and how different the areas would have been portrayed if it was set in present day. To me, San Fierro and Las Venturas don't feel any more like being in an older era than 3D Liberty City, apart from the cars.

To be honest, I wish the vehicles were based on modern day instead. I can't stand the old fashioned vehicles (Sabre, Greenwood, Perennial etc.)

I think CJ would be more into Gang Starr than Nirvana because of the time he spent on the east coast. I also think San Fierro is missing a gang of misfit teenagers who harass CJ for not being a local kind of like how Embarcadero was in the late 80's/early 90's

CJ is more of a Dogstar than 2Pac.?
The so called era of San Andreas spans a decade or more from late '80s to the '90s, until
the recent revival of hip-hop,rap music lifestyle that is 2000 when GTA SA was released 2005.
