how the hell do you  have several film titles names in the same envelope, the  academy dropped the ball on that one and made Warren Beatty look foolish!..

Probably the host playing a joke

La la land was announced, and the real winner was moonlight

I knew something was wrong when a guy with a headset/microphone set (probably the guy in charge of the announcements and envelopes) was going back and forth  between the La la land crew and Warren Beatty with a envelope

Funny thing is, Warren Beatty didn't even announce La La Land. He just look at the envelope completely dumbfounded. He tried showing it to Faye Dunaway, and she took a quick glimpse and called La La Land.

I was watching to see how many would make a political speech and the Iranian film that won had a spokes person  because the winner didn't show in support of the 7 county's under the travel band and I watched to see how Jimmy Kimmel would do!..

I saw the first half hour then changed it to Walking/Talking Dead. Turned it back on towards the end and ..woah!

La La Land winning must be an alternative fact.

La La Land blew a 14 nomination lead...

True Grit was nominated for 10 oscars and won none. American Hustle for eleven, none.

It happens. It went away with several rewards including best Screenplay and Director. I was honestly rooting for its Best Picture win but oh well.

It sucks that the win is being overshadowed bybthe mix-up, I have a feeling it's on purpose.

Why would they do that?

If the Academy had inherent bias against Moonlight they'd just not vote for it lol. This does more harm than good to them.

here's the last 7 minutes of the Oscars for those that might of not watched

This morning on my Canadian news  either CBC/CTV a young fella had   play by play circled  images showing the envelope close up and what was written on it and explained that there are envelopes on both sides of the stage and he said the previous side Warren Beatty and  Faye Dunaway came in on had the old   envelope of La La Land and the best Actress/or supporting Actress win envelope that was handed off to them by mistake!..

The Oscars screw up was great, but that elephant toothpaste experiment was cooler for me.

LLL is anything but a terrible film. Musicals are not for everyone but calling it outright terrible strikes me as a big exaggeration.

What the hell is La La Land? It sounds like someone was puffing the ole magic dragon while watching Dragon Tales and decieded that La La Land was a good idea for a title/movie.

The title is in relation to the movie's characters, who have grand aspirations and ambitions that could almost be described as foolish and unattainable.

It's time to do away with the briefcases and envelopes and either use tablets or give the guest announcers  ear pieces to tell them the winner or have them read from a  teleprompter

I don't think well be seeing these two any time soon or at the next red carpet Oscars

sorry, but it's terrible.

the story is extremely shallow.

the themes are vapid and boring.

the singing/dancing is mediocre at best. it's an average musical as musicals go.

the acting is good but it's without soul or purpose

the cinematography was good but nothing special.

it's just a movie about white actors and Hollywood.

the ultimate circle jerk.

It's not really shallow so much as it is upbeat and glamorous; and even then its underscored with quite a bit of reality [esp. with that ending] and genuine heart. Its themes of ambition, compromise and sacrifice are not what I would call vapid. I think a lot of people can relate to the situation Mia and Seb are going through.

I agree its not world class singing or dancing, but I think it sort of adds to the charm? the music itself can be quite infectious [City of Stars] and the imperfections sort of add to the charm here. These songs rendered professionally wouldn't be half as good, as evident by John Legend's Oscar performance.

Dude the cinematography and editing were AMAZING. Half this movie is in the brilliant camera work. The ending sequence? insane. The space planetarium? fantastic. Or how about the scene for A Lovely Night? it beats out all the competition this year, at least.

Is it a Hollywood handjob? yes, I don't think anyone can really deny that. But its a damn good wank.

Tbh you need quite the ego to think you're good looking enough to impersonate Gosling.
