How much money would I need to spend on a gaming PC to run GTA 5 smoothly + With mods, I've played console since 2013 and I am getting bored of it now especially with the ridiculous prices on cars in GTA Online I rather just mod the car in single player.

This link lists out completed builds by the site's users; look up your price range and see if anything catches your fancy I guess. You wont have to spend much to get a rig that can play the game + mods well, I'd say like 500-600 maybe especially if you go for an AMD graphics card.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable about PC hardware than I am comes along and helps you :p

I can say that anything with a GTX 960 or 970 or above will be perfect for the task (minus the 1050/Ti I presume, not that it wont be good, just not as good as the others. I think.). Try for a GTX1060/70 I guess if you can (or go the whole hog with a 1080).

As a benchmark of sorts I guess, my system is equivalent to the GTX760 + i7 4720 with 16GB of RAM. I run the game almost maxed out (minus some advanced graphics) at 1080p with an FPS of average 60-80. When I heavily mod it with visual enhancers and such (like ENB/Reshades) + bump up the traffic levels, I usually keep it around 30-40 frames.

This PC destroys GTA V(and any recent game)
1. Case for $80-$100
2. Corsair PSU $80-$100
3. Asus Z170 or Z270 around $150
4. CPU 7700K or 7600K $250-$340
5. DDR4 16GB 2400mhz around $120
6. Any nVidia GTX 1070 around $400
7. Samsung 240GB SSD around $90
8. WD HDD 1TB $50
9. Get the monitor you like, I prefer 1080p 144hz
10. Mouse+Keyboard+Headset around $100
Note: These are US prices, not sure where you live.
Sure you can get cheaper PC(you get what you pay for), but this one ensures that you have the power for all games maxed out settings and will stay very powerful for at least 2 to 3 years from now. Don't buy the ghetto AMD graphic cards my advice.

even the Pentium G3258 with gtx750 that i have under my desk gathering dust would run it better then any console, it pushed more the 30fps and details are way better.

it all depends on how mutch better you want to play..

if you are willing to get a 2nd hand Gpu and assemble your own pc you can save alot of money, i mean im seeing gtx970 for less then 100$ out there

if you are looking for a new pc with new parts for 500$ you can get something like AMD Rx460 + I3-6100
