In III, Donald was a lot more mature and easy-going.

In LCS, on the other hand, he was quite immature and often broke down, complaining about everything. Also the other unnecessary thing, was his fascination with the deceased. In III you never would of thought that Donald would love dead bodies so much, In LCS he is just crazy about the 'morgue party' and makes Toni steal corpses for him!

I think III's Donald Love and LCS's Donald Love are almost like 2 completely different people.

Younger Donald Love, his quest for power made him change throughout the series. That's why himself bigger in III, he acts calmer and easier than LCS.

Plus, a lot of things can change in 3 years.

I thought it was more because Donald's relationship with Claude was a lot more professional than with Toni, who got to see his character flaws up close and personal while working with him.

In III it's still confirmed that he goes on morgue parties. He was still the same jerk down there, he just kept himself quiet.

Character Development I suppose. Losing the Mayoral Elections and then having to go the extent of blowing Fort Staunton for the sake of getting hold of new project, killing Avery and stuff like those probably made him more mature in the course of 3 years. Rockstar did a nice job developing his character. Got no complains about this.

I think the point is that 3 years between LCS LC (1998) and III LC (2001) is a little time period to get all changes universe does.

For example, 3 years are not enough to completely ruin ferry terminals and build Porter Tunnel, as well as remade Staunton ferry terminal to Phil's base. It is rather controversial if Fort Staunton ruins can be cleaned during that 3 years with addition of building nearly complete Staunton Plaza.

To be sure, Donald Love personality can be actually changed during some time period, but not during 3 years.

The same idea with fat and lazy Tony Cipriani as Claude met him.

I even can say that logically it should be at least 5-7 years between LCS and III.

"Just like chicken, but more ... sentient."

I don't think Love's character was ruined at all, it was better explained in LCS. Perhaps Donald Love appeared professional to convince someone like Claude to work for him.

Cannibal out of control Donald Love is such a contrast to the calculating media mogul Donald Love. I think it's funny and kinda explains why Donald hasn't left.LC, he can do what he has to do without being bothered.

In III, D Love was just a heartless robot who was only referred to love morgue parties. R* actually improved the character so I finally felt D Love in LCS as a emotional human.
