Remember Deadalus and Son?
And the Wright brothers made the first plane in 1903, while RDR took place all the way in 1911.
Maybe there will some crappy ass plane we can use for a mission and use at the end of the game?

Given the fact that this game is likely going to take place before 1911, very unlikely.

...people seriously think this game takes place after 1914?
No.

Probably not and I'm totally fine with that.

i would love it but i also doubt it. the red dead redemption map was so beautiful and i would have loved to see it in an aerial view. i think there is a better chance of a hot air balloon they were used during the civil war. maybe around the map there could be hot air balloon tours like higgins helitours in gta 4. they could also be used in a mission were you had to fly in one and provide intel about were the enemy is.

RDR2 is most likely set in an inappropriate time period for aircraft, so I doubt we'll see any.

The only thing I think against it is that the first game is land locked by mountains and such, and I imagine that the next one will be, too, but planes being flown since December 1903, that land planes existing in the 5 year mark mentioned for a prequel.
Is it confirmed a prequel? I know the evidence all points to it, but is it confirmed?
I wonder why they did the strangers and freaks in the OP since planes had already been flown since 1903?
Maybe you can take hot air balloon tours like heli tours in IV

Possible, but unlikely. I can see the fun possibilities of flying a sh*tty wood-and-paper contraption over the beautiful landscapes, but given the time period I'd say it's unlikely unless it's going to be a one-off mission where the machine gets destroyed afterwards to prevent things going too far fetched.

I doubt it, and I really f*cking hope not.
Let's remember that RDR1's world is surrounded by a range of mountains that can't be climbed or gotten over in anyway, likewise there are bodies of water impeding the player on the east of the map.
Add in a plane and that perfect barrier to the world is removed. So they'd have to come up with some bullsh*t invisible walls to keep the player in, or a nonsensical, endless plane of nothing for them to fly over to... nowhere.
And of course, let's remember that in the Western, traditionally there are three forms of transport: Horseback, carriage or on foot. Cars were still rare at the time of the game, as seen in the first game.
Come on, let's not wish for things that will make the game less realistic and enjoyable, yeah?

Ofc its possible with a plane...but then it probably would be made to fly really bad and with an engine that dies when getting to close to the end of the map.

Some aliens could also add some fun
Nah.

Maybe not flying machines, but hand gliders or hot air balloons would be cool, just for aesthetics. You don't want the map to feel too small.

Plot twist - you could play as an eagle in some minigame/side mission

Question: Chances of airplane gameplay?
Answer: No.
Question: Ok. Any chances to fly somehow?
Answer: Yes, via peyotes we'll have an ability to play as a bird or any other animal.

Airplanes? No, specially not if the game is supposed to be a prequel. Hot Air Balloons? Maybe

Your retarded, lol. The game is almost definitely taking place around the mid to late 1800s, if they made that an actual mission or side mission there would be historical inaccuracy bashing up the ass by fans.

If they try to make Red Dead more like GTA by adding vehicles that really weren't present in that era, it'll make the Red Dead series less authentic which defeats the whole purpose. They won't be adding planes or bikes and if you ask me I doubt we'll be able to swim this time around. I prefer the original western setting with just horses, cattle and trains. It makes the environment a lot more authentic.
