Hi Good-NTS. I saw your post on reddit. Impressive stuff. Am I right that this project is a stepping stone to eventually aspirations to bring Red Dead Redemption map to PC? I remember reading something like that here that this is on the radar for OpenIV team but I can't find the post right now. Obviously RDR is not as well understood by the modding community as GTA IV, but have any significant milestones been reached with RDR?

Seeing as GTA IV or EFLC don't have GTA3's Radio Stations (nor LCS) why would it be done here? I think people are missing the fact that this CONVERTS DIRECTLY FROM IV/EFLC.

My main concern was mostly on the stations from IV/EFLC.

Isn't that just a map mod, after all?
By the way, I don't think that some many things, including IV's radio stations, would fit into the V's vibe, anyway that's a good work to see a map converted into a newer game.

just wishful thinking again

because the gta underground thing for lc, vc, sa, and the bully map had that feature

Hi GooD-NTS and team,

 

Very impressive project here, sounds like a great initiative. As someone who has a strong interest in map/game development, I'll be following this closely.

 

Out of curiosity, what reasons were there for the placement? Going by US geography, technically it should be on the north east side of the island (assuming the GTA universe follows the same rough layout of the actual US). Right now it looks like it's to the south, I think? I can understand if it's for technical reasons, though.

 

Anyways, looking forward to seeing this develop further. Best of luck, guys!

Can there be an option to have loading screens?

A script that allows us to travel to the different maps by going to a certain location. It loads the IPL's of the needed location, and unloads the IPL's of the location that isn't needed.

Methods of travel:
-Go to the Airport and walk into a blip. Press right on dpad to buy a ticket. Hell, why not have this bring up a menu so it will allow us to fly between 3 locations. Liberty City, Los Santos, and North Yankton.
-Another blip for cargo plane tickets. Lets you travel with your car. There would be a cargo plane parked at Los Santos International Airport and at Francis International Airport. The plane would have the back door propped open. You would drive into the back and buy the ticket.
-On the map, there would be a blip in the middle of the ocean. When in SA, it is north east, and when in LC, it is south west. When you fly into it, you are teleported to the other cities blip location and the other city is loaded. When your teleported it keeps the heading, height, and velocity you were traveling.
-An update to the Galaxy Super Yacht mod where you can have your captin move the yacht to LC. (Note: I am not talking about Gauds Yacht mod, I speak of the newer one)

Also, isn't there a SP DLC map group that can be enabled? It works like the Online maps. It just doesn't do anything since there is no SP DLC. If the file can be set up so it invalidates the SA files and loads the LC ones, that could work. The only thing is, I have no idea if you can swap water files by doing this. If the rumors about Rockstar making an LC DLC are true, it may be possible to swap the water.

A bridge that connects LS to LC (that's if the distance isn't that far,if it is then hmm maybe it won't be so fitting).

I don't like the download/install method,if you guys don't want to dive in that "copy right" stuff then someone if willing outside of your team should have a link to a direct COPY/PASTE folder installation,hell i don't have IV anymore on my drive so have to buy a new copy of IV just in order to have this mod  ?

 

Will the map fully load all IV's objects ? peds ? traffic ? missions ? can i go bowling ?

As I've heard on first release there will be only the map with buildings, interiors, trees, bushes, trash. etc only. There won't be any traffic or peds (as OpenIV's team said they aren't ready with the vehicle / pedestrians paths in GTA V yet).

Ah I see you've knowledge about dynamic cloth simulation. Off topic here , can we apply cloth simulation to something like for example, Darth Vader cape?

It might be possible when we will have formats for GTA V cloth files.

 

here a little Note: in tbogt is the mcreary house cutscene interior missing.

I guess so, but let's have the map first and then think about fixes.
 

what about trees and all the vegetation? are you going to use IV models or HQ models from V?

The first version will use IV assets, then we might have "updates" created by community.

This is map conversion, not a game conversion. We will not convert missions, scripts, or radio stations.
I hope this mod might be kinda like base for other community mods like ped and car packs from IV.

One map at the time :) Let's finish with Liberty City first, and if everything goes well we might try RDR map.

Few reasons, it is easily to show when two cities are nearby, also as _CP_ mentioned we have few technical limitations now (they might be resolved in time)

We can't stop people from doing that.

I'm glad you got the priorities straight. Since your focus is just the map as a base, the community can make add on mods that will make this like it was a TC. :)

 

Also, bear in mind, some stuff is fixed in my IV/EFLC Graphical Bug Fixes. For example, someone at Rockstar made a typo on the shader for the dirt overlay texture on the exterior of the TBOGT Bahama Mama's. You should keep this in mind so when it is converted to GTA V, it knows what shader to use. Otherwise it will have the same problem in V.

 

 

Perhaps after we have the map, people can look into adding new shaders that IV didn't even have. For example, the parallax mapping so small things appear 3d. Another one is making short grass have the 3d effect it has in the GTA V map, and adding tall grass where appropriate.

Well, that is an interesting fact. If by any chance you know more bugs like this please make a list with model names, so we will be able to fix it.

Did you report this to Rockstar? I wonder why they didn't fix it in the latest patch :O

Don't believe that sh*tty clickbait video. Dat saintfan is a clickbaiter who uses mods and speculative informations for money profits. He, along with other clickbaiters are hated by the GTA Online community except, maybe his 12-year old fans. And he's using FiveM with Liberty City on it or he stole someone's screenshot and he claims it as his own thumbnail.

 

On topic now,

How about the emergency jurisdictions though? If there's a second or maybe the third version, are you guys planning to add it? It feels so wrong to see San Andreas emergency vehicles in LC.
