Just a bit of advice, you've enabled ad sense on your video BUT you've also got this video auto-playing for anyone who runs OpenIV (Video opens in browser), this is NOT ALLOWED and against policy because it's used to inflate views of both commercial and your video and if reported can lead to a termination of your channel.

:p Well seeing the LAST major map project was targeted by Take2 & Rockstar and they used any slightest means possible to discredit the creator, you're damn right I'm gonna bring up stuff to make sure OpenIV team has their sh*t covered or else they'll be shut down, and considering OpenIV has a monopoly over RAGE era modding AND is closed sourced, if they were shut down and were forbidden from working on further titles and updates via a C&D then, well, that's not a good outcome.

I have some questions about that Liberty City's port:

 

1. Will you add all interiors from all enterable buildings across Liberty City, including the interiors, savehouses and clubs available only in GTA EFLC?

2. Will you make all interiors accessible? I meant the interiors that are with locked doors outside missions, like Liberty Bank locked in both GTA IV and EFLC, Lost MS Clubhouse which is enterable before last mission only in TLaD, and Libertonian Museum which cannot be entered in TBoGT? Same for Niko Bellic's savehouses in GTA IV which are locked and are inaccessible in GTA EFLC in both TLaD and TBoGT?

3. Can you also on Magestic Hotel in Liberty City located on Algonquin near Middle Park, to open the two hotels floors which have their doors locked in Singleplayer and can be entered only in GTA IV's Multiplayer?

4. Can you make do also on GTA V's to make accessible interiors available in missions only on Story Mode, and also unlock and give access to GTA Online only interiors and savehouses for all three protalgonists in Singleplayer Story Mode across Los Santos, so you do not need to use OpenInteriors anymore?

5. I'm also wonder if it's possible to put Liberty City to north, as you do make the highway on the east part of GTA V's map passing near Sandy Shores and Grapeseed, after Braddock Pass to branch and do continue to north out of GTA V's map and to end to Brokes / Dukes island of Liberty City map, as the Alderney and Algonquin parts of Liberty City to be located at on 2-3 KM from the north end of GTA V's map where the Paleto Bay town and Mount Chiliad are located?

well, since this conversion don't touch online, I don't see R* getting mad. Unless they are planning something related to GTA 4 map for Online

 

but yeah, Ash have a point, having my browser opening good's youtube page when I launch openIV is annoying and against youtube/google rules

 

people asking about interiors, ofc it would be nice, but let them release the convertor for the basic map first

As a GTA machinima maker, I can't wait to see this and put the editor to use on those streets!!  It's practically a new game for us film-makers since GTA IV's editor isn't as up to scratch as V's.

As a GTA machinima maker, I can't wait to see this and put the editor to use on those streets!!  It's practically a new game for us film-makers since GTA IV's editor isn't as up to scratch as V's.


You said exactly what I was thinking. If everything works great and looks great I'll freak out making Machinima in Liberty city.

Btw, Rockstar Editor will work perfectly... Right?

Yeah, but it seems really unlikely they'll do that when it doesn't effect Online. I don't think that LC DLC is coming back either.

@GooD Will we be able to use the updated EFLC map? With dance club interiors and all that good stuff?

If they do the gameconfig right, it should be possible to do. They would just have to leave over some gameconfig memory.

 

Then again, if it doesn't work with the Online maps, I may be able to disable LC when the Online maps are enabled, and write a script which simulates you flying between cities (loading screen in between). I'd prefer a loading screen if they have to put LC right up against LS (whether it be convenience, or technical reasons), and put LC south of LS as that is geographically incorrect.

It depends on how he does it, whether or not it will convert it.

 

Judging on how they are adding LC to the GTA V map, they do have to move LC. So it is possible that the ymap files will already be created. The converter will just get the models and textures. But it is possible that the converter will also convert the wpl's to ymaps, and it can move the maps around.

 

But regardless, if you have any texture mods, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't carry over.

60FPS Liberty city, here we come.

Would be nice if you come with some method to load LC and maybe other mods from custom RPFs. (I'm not actively watching RAGE scene, but i am sure, noone made it possible yet). You know so ppl don't have to redo their update.rpf after V update. It would be extremly annoying considering the size of IV map.

Files which has to be edited to load LC will be very small and probably done via .oiv package.

Are you sure, they was map projects and not alternative multiplayers?

Not sure what exactly are you referring to, but we manage to put the whole LC with collisions using only OpenIV.ASI (to put it in mods folder) and it was required to edit only two files in game. Gameconfig.xml obviously for few limits and dlclist.xml to make sure the game will load our DLC. However, as I mentioned earlier, currently we does not have paths (neither peds nor cars), water, weather and minimap and to make some of them we will probably need to tune few more things in game code.
 

Would you take map additions? (Improvement wise) like for example:

We are thinking different ideas in this direction.

By the way: can you make it, in a separate folder with activation by a .exe? So, we could enable/disable whenever we want, and play Online with no risk of being banned, since no mods are being loaded together with original game.

Like all OpenIV/RPF mods, you will be able to install Liberty City into "mods" folder, and have ability to enable/disable whenever you want.

I love this tool. Not just because it converts IV but also because we should be able to export our own maps to IV and then convert them to V. :D

You will be able to create your own maps for V before Liberty City will be released.

This tool will be specific to convert Liberty City and possibly will have unintentional issues with converting other map mods if they are not done right.

I think interiors are blocked by scripts, since we does not have any scripts, interiors probably will be accessible.

This mod is about adding Liberty City, not about changing something in Los Santos.

Actually a nice question, and then how about if we made some map mods in IV. Will they be converted as well?

If the map mod is done correctly (from convertor point of view) it will be converted, but at first, you will be warned about not original files and that might cause some issues.
In addition, the convertor will expect LC to improve it (add flags, underwater surface, grass, etc) and with custom maps it will be an issue.
We are not want to create ultimate map convertor to V from IV, we only one to convert Liberty City.
I hope community can create new content, but we are unable to do it, but we can write some code to convert Liberty.

Yes, LC is moved, but convertor actually converts all IDE/WPL files from game config.

Liberty City is standalone single player DLC, it loaded from separated RPF files, only few game files are required to be edited.

Mostly yes, but we will add some new assets because GTA V is more advanced than GTA IV.
Also, we have some ideas to replace some models, for example static GTA IV flags replace with cloth based one from GTA V.
But, of course, we will need help from community with creating new assets.
 

 

Ah I see you've knowledge about dynamic cloth simulation. Off topic here , can we apply cloth simulation to something like for example, Darth Vader cape?

what about trees and all the vegetation? are you going to use IV models or HQ models from V?

LC is still holding up pretty good after all these years but all the vegetation looks reaally outdated, it was bad even in 2008
