So I was playing GTA VCS and there was a mission named Light My Pyre, which is an obvious reference to the song Light My Fire (by The Doors). So I was wondering are there any other mission names which are references to Music, Movies, and other Pop Culture? Please list the ones that you know. Have a nice day!

Eye in the Sky (the GTA V mission where you steal the Z-Type) takes its name from Alan Parsons' 1982 top hit.

I reckon I'm a tad bit too obsessed with this man, but his music is just too awesome :p

I like to think the mission "Predator" in V is a loose homage to the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenneger film of the same name , with the woods and thermal vision sh*t:

Maybe i like that movie a bit too much but personally i don't see this as a stretch to be honest.

Also from GTA SA the Mission 'New Model Army' is probably a reference to the rock band of the same name, who come from a town near Leeds UK.

(Rockstar have offices in Leeds and NMA have long been regular artists in the Leeds rock scene).

Just a quick tough...
If half of missions names are a pop culture reference... where's the creativity?
This is not just a gta problem, it's something i see in lots of (usually comedic) shows

GTA V

I Fought the Law... (reference to "I Fought the Law" by The Clash)

*The Bobby Fuller Four...or to be a real pedant; Sonny Curtis, who later joined The Crickets after Buddy Holly's death ;)

Anybody think that perhaps the taxi driving side missions are a reference to Scorsese's Taxi Driver? not in name, but due to Travis Bickle being a bit unhinged and pretty much every GTA protagonist being on the psychopathic side.  Imagine being a pedestrian in Vice City hopping in a cab driven by a out of towner in a blue Hawaiian shirt; then seeing on the news that evening that the same cabbie shot his way out of North Point mall wearing a cop's uniform.

Yes, I know that but I wrote like that probably because The Clash's is the most popular version or maybe I really just like The Clash.

Don't really see the problem to be honest. The GTA series is infamous for its pop culture references/parodies. I remember mission names more that are pop culture references than those that aren't.

OK I think I found two more. Against All Odds in GTA SA may be a reference to the Phil Collins song of the same name. And Made In Heaven may be a reference to the Queen album (not that sure about the last one).

They're just mission names, not like it matters.

I don't really see the problem in that. And it's not even a recent thing, for example, many names of the old episodes of The Simpsons (Homer's Odyssey, Simpson and Delilah, Saturdays Of Thunder, Homer Alone...) and Married... With Children (But I Didn't Shoot The Deputy, Nightmare On Al's Street, It's A Bundyful Life...) were pop culture references, and those are from the late 80s and early 90s.If pop culture references in TV show episode names or video game mission names were something bad, they wouldn't be around for so long.
