out of control message and color tags

well im playing a game on steam and the chat from a code perspective is a f*****g mess.


when you type and hit enter the main codes that occer are

< color = #FFFFFFFF > < / color >


< message > < / message >

(spaes not included) its any 2 of the 4.


any ideas on how to cancel them out? code used is either HTML or XML

Unless chat is written by idiots, messages will be getting scraped to avoid injection. Either by parsing for tags or escaping. It's the same reason that <em>this text isn't emphasized</em>. But this text is. If you look at HTML for this page, you'll see that the text containing emphasis tags I've entered get escaped, while the italics bbcodes turned into real <em> tags. This is done primarily to prevent someone from doing something really ugly, like running JavaScript to steal your personal information. And for that reason, it tends to be intentionally hard to defeat. Not that people don't find loopholes occasionally.

Unless chat in the game you're looking at has special codes for modifying the style, or if developers really were idiots and left this unguarded, I probably wouldn't bother trying to get around it.
