I think think we can all agree we want a new GTA. I would have made the topic explicitly about non-GTA games.
Max Payne with new style and concept but looking like 1 and 2 and set in New York.
A game where Max Payne has a branching personality, split two ways. Stealth vs Guns Blazing.
Max Payne could come back but I think the format needs to be changed. The linear format seems dated. I would propose that they keep a certain amount of linearity but make it more like Deus Ex: HR where there's large sections of "open-word" or various sandboxes and but the level of detail in those sections is deep. Use of ladders to gain access to buildings in multiple ways, hacking computers, picking locks etc. Imagine it's a murder-mystery thriller with use of stealth but 50% of the missions will be big shootouts, keeping with Max the Payne style. Use of a Subway will take Max to different parts of the city. Often times gaining entry to a gang-hideout will be a puzzle. Once entry has been gained, rewards for stealth can be used. climbing drain pipes, ledges, looking for clues etc.
Remember Outrun the driving game? Take the left turns for easy route and the right turns for difficult. Well, every action Max takes being stealth counts towards unlocking stealth abilities and unlockables. There'll be a centrist approach but you'll never branch over to one extreme and reaping the rewards of the extreme stealth weapons or extreme guns-blazing rewards but a happy medium. I'm thinking it can be good for replayiblity. Depending on what tools you have, you might have to think differently about how you approach to enter buildings and restricted areas.
I think the current style of gameplay is a bit dated. It was awesome for 2002.
