haha, sorry, i couldn't do the poll myself because the topic title bar was covering the poll options.

My favorite is Mexico but just for a bit, i like how barren it is and the architecture and citizens just scream danger to me.
West Elizabeth is really close, Blackwater and the mountain area feel out of place though, still love the variety of it.

Sounds pretty legit.

OT: Probs would have to be New Austin. I like saloons and farms and sh*t. I like shooting up those gangsters in Armadillo. Though bear hunting in those woods is quite time consuming......

They're all fantastic. New Austin is the classic Texas desert, West Elizabeth is this beautiful Louisiana-style grassland, Mexico is f*cking Mexico... I'd say Mexico with NA coming at an incredibly close second.

I haven't really played the game in the last couple of years, but I plan on playing it again soon-ish. From what I remember this is probably my list:

  1. New Austin
  2. West Elizabeth
  3. Nuevo Paraiso

All of them are pretty great though.

West Elizabeth, Blackwater is my favorite location in the game. And the mountains/forests in the area are great for hunting

I love all 3 states equally, but if I had to pick one, I would choose West Elizabeth. Some of the places there give me the creeps, especially Beecher's Hope after the storyline.

New Austin, because it feels like the most classic western area in the game. Not that the others don't but New Austin just feels right.

West Elizabeth for me. Tall Trees and Nekoti Rock are just amazing, Blackwater is pretty cool, and the whole area just has this atmosphere of unease and dread, which is fitting not only for story reasons, but because some places are just creepy as hell. As infamously scary as the cougars are, there's nothing quite like going hunting in Tall Trees and getting paranoid, swearing that you just heard a grizzly's heavy breathing. Then just when you think the coast is clear, you see one charging you and have just enough time to pull out your rifle and nail his ass. Then it turns out he had friends.

Yeah, the entire area feels so... foreboding. The dense forest in the north, full of not just dangerous animals, but also with the Dutch's gang hiding in there, the endless plains that have none of the sun-soaked warmth of New Austin or Nuevo Paraiso, the threat of urbanity and civilization enroaching upon the untamed land given form in serene, yet cold Blackwater and Beecher's Hope, which, as Cluckin' Bell said, just becomes chilling after the story is done. Yet, it's still just as beautiful as anywhere else in the game. To me, the area gives an impression of loneliness, isolation, abandonment. Perfect for the story's final chapter.

Visually, thematically; everything just aligns. Just listen to the music. Hammers the point in wonderfully.

Beautifully put, and that music is easily one of my favorite pieces from the game. It's just so haunting, yet oddly serene. I love having it play when I'm standing up on Nekoti Rock, looking out into the distance, contemplating.

There's also this track, which perfectly sums up the West Elizabeth mood as well: On edge, and with a bad feeling in your gut. Perhaps the most chilling thing about this track, after finishing the story? The presence of some rather militaristic drumming.
