I'll confess that I have never heard of Gord Downie. So I did a quick search of his music, and damn he's good. Major props for standing tall in such dire circumstances. Many people in his situation might sulk in the corner but from what I've heard he's going to continue to sing his heart out.

It figures that we'd lose two brilliant Canadians in the short span of 48 hours.

Rest in peace Gord Downie, literally one of the nicest people that has ever graced this world, let alone our country. His battle with cancer, the work he did with the residential school survivors, his band - the guy is legendary.

RIP, wasn't a huge fan of the band but I know Gord Downie was the quintessential Canadian and rep'd our country with great pride.  He's at peace now jamming with other greats now in the great gig in the sky.

I also updated title to reflect the news. I remember reading this topic when it was originally posted.

Always sad to hear someone go so early, especially an artist or musician that's put themselves out there and given many people good memories. I don't know much about him or the Tragically Hip but nevertheless it's still sad.
