FYI, GTA's development also has very harsh crunch times and other issues. And do you know who was there the whole time? The Benz.

-he won awards for good leadership etc. go look it up

-RDR got R* in trouble, because it was a development hell for those involved. families weren't too happy, crunch time etc...and that damn DARKNESS everyhwere...until the benz showed up!

-he bought a church just so it wouldn't be taken down for a shopping mall or so

-sam and dan are spoiled brats, it's very likely they're rotten humans who do that kinda sh*t they're being sued for

- he made GTA 3, he built that sh*t.

Dear Benz, I wrote you but you still ain't calling.

I have no real knowledge of how this stuff goes down, or when what will happen, but regardless of that here's my take anyways. at the moment I guess it's an ongoing inverstigation to the allegations made. R* lawyers tried to stop it, wasn't accepted by the court. and/or the benz allegations were partly accepted and thus the case gets investigated etc.

right now, probably facts-finding and such? interviews, taking statements at some point. and then some day giving testimony in court and so on? anyhow, this will take a while, certainly not gonna be reseolved before 2018.

Nothing recent has been said on it other than a passing remark in the interview with Polygon that The Benz and his new team did. We may never find out what happens in the end, they could keep it all private.

no way it's kept private...unless they go for some OUT OF COURT SETTLEMENT which I find very unlikely. if I was the benz, and I'd know what I know, OF COURSE I would sue and turn down ANY offers to not bring this to court and not let go of it.

A new development

RcfTTnl.png

lol good luck trying to prove that, when there's video and official statements from Rockstar that say otherwise.

Spoiler

These are hardly proof of anything. Congratulating Lezlie in an award ceremony means nothing (You're not exactly going to roast Lezlie). Saying you are grateful for Lezlie in a short vague sentence after his departure means nothing (Rockstar was trying to play it cool as if nothing was happening, we didn't know Lezlie and R* had a fallout back then).

On the other hand, Rockstar statement's about Lezlie's poor performance in these court documents mean nothing as well. It's a court case so each side will do their best to win. Rockstar will refuse claims that they screwed over Lezlie, Lezlie will refuse claims he was a problem in the production of GTA V.

My bets are on this court case being settled quietly by both sides. Also I'm wondering where the article got the court documents from? I'd like to read these. Court cases are public, right?

The quotes about The Benz' poor performance were out when news of his lawsuit came about. It was Rockstar's official response to it.

Which makes me think what the Benz thinks about the modding debacle. Certainly he has to shut his trap for the time being due to the court case still ongoing, but I'm sure Leslie has a few choice words on T2's recent feud with fans.

gta ol becomes more and more trash , vehicles upgrades are bundled with a bunker and a center truck, after player purchasing both you know what?you cant select the ones you want??????you have to research/buy some other upgrades you dont want before they are available.

Dont blame take2,R itself  has become a currupted liar!

RcfTTnl.png

perhaps leslie's version has some problems, but gamers can choose whatever  items they want in the game without bundles

Maybe The Benz was the reason GTAV was sh*te

('o')

Here's an extract form the great lawsuit '

The relationship seems to have broken down in the wake of GTA Online, a multiplayer component of GTA 5, released just after that game's launch.

"The Houser brothers had little interest in GTA Online, and did not focus on its development," according to The Benz. Even so, when The Benz placed his name in the prize spot at the end in the opening credits, a place usually taken by Sam Houser, it caused friction.

The Benz alleges that Sam Houser was unhappy about this. "He claimed to have noticed it only after it had already been released," says the lawsuit. "If true, this would mean that he had not played or even viewed the game pre-release, or else he would have seen the opening credits."

The suit claims that Jennifer Kolbe, a Rockstar executive, reported Sam Houser's unhappiness to The Benz, quoting him as saying that The Benz "wanted to take over the company."

Maybe he could be the reason .  But if The Benz is saying the truth Dan and Sam had no interest in GTA:Online's production?

They really have nerve blaming Leslie for the awful way they run their company at the highest levels. Really disgusting. I hope he bankrupts them.

edit: And Sam Houser can piss off with his little sissy fit about his name not being last in the credits. No one cares. You're a grown man, act like it. Really shows how off the deep end they and the company have gone.

Some former rockstar employees said "Its like a Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory"
We (as a gamer or player) never really knew how rockstar make that multi-million dollar machine, no interviews, no behind the scenes, no nothing...its just jumped out with surprising trailer, so it MUST BE have a hidden reason why the BENZ immidiately suing rockstar without a conversation with HOUSER Brother first...
I also heard that Sam and Dan are a little dick in office, he once calling a woman a b1tch for doing something wrong...well, from my POV, Rockstar and The Benz got a friction between them because they don't agree each other about GTA ONLINE...Benz invented it, Houser hate it.
I don't really sure who's the bad guy here anyway...when i heard the news back in january, i jumped out my sh*t..i mean its really serious tho, THE BENZ help developed and produced GTA since 2001, so what's next for GTA in the future without The Benz? Time will tell you my friend.

Grand Theft Auto creators’ intense messages pledging loyalty presented in court as royalties lawsuit unfolds

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

Love is no game.

Repeated proclamations of platonic devotion between two gamers while they built the multi-billion dollar “Grand Theft Auto” franchise have been introduced in a high-stakes lawsuit over royalties.

GTA producer The Benz alleges in his lawsuit that Rockstar Games co-founder Sam Houser manipulated him, earned his “complete trust” — then screwed The Benz out of as much as $500 million.

That alleged manipulation involved emails between the two — missives that The Benz’ attorney says shows that they were close friends.

The Benz says he spearheaded the creative side of the game, while Houser handled the business side.

“Do you still love me? More than ever? ... That’s exactly how I feel - such a f---ing strong connection. I’m nervous and excited about what is ahead of us. Together — we CAN do this. But — I REALLY need you. So much to discuss,” Houser wrote The Benz in December 2004, as Grand Theft Auto became one of the most successful video game brands ever.

The following month, Houser asked The Benz: “Do you still love me? Can we take over? Dominate? Sorry — I’m needy.”

The Benz replied, “You know I still love you. We are getting closer to the domination every day.”

To which Houser said, “I’ll never take the ‘love’ for granted. You and me is (sic) a special thing; this combination can go literally anywhere. I want us to have this industry and lock-down in this next generation, and between the two of us, I firmly believe this is possible.”

The suit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, alleges that Houser “incessantly” used phrases like “I will ALWAYS look out for you” and “I’m in this forever with you.”

The Benz’ attorneys argue that the emails indicate a business arrangement had been made between he and Houser in which they were partners at the company, entitled to the same amount of money from the franchise.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Barry Ostrager questioned whether the emails represented an agreement separate from contracts The Benz subsequently signed with Rockstar.

“You’re telling me the parties are pledging their undying love for each other and then memorialized their agreements in contracts?” Ostrager asked during a hearing on Tuesday.

Outside the courtroom, The Benz’ lawyer Christopher Bakes said the intense bond between the two was similar to that of friends at Catholic Boarding School, the Marines, or in the entertainment industry.

“There’s a certain style of speech in gaming — they don’t speak to each other like you and I do,” he said, adding that the emails showed an “esprit de corps” that can emerge when the stakes are high.

“There's a certain intensity associated with certain instances of male bonding,” he added.

The Benz says he was ousted from Rockstar after the release of GTA V in 2014 because of Houser’s greed.

Rockstar counters in papers that GTA V was released in spite of The Benz.

“The Benz’ poor performance during the development of Grand Theft Auto V led to significant production problems,” Rockstar argued.

“In order to distract from the legal deficiencies of his case, The Benz has presented himself as the aggrieved genius single-handedly responsible for the success of the GTA series.”

Rockstar did not respond to an email seeking comment.

I recently saw a few clips of SOCIAL NETWORK on youtube, and it made me think of the benz! you know it's about a lawsuit and how someone was intentionally f*cked over by those who supposedly were their friends. when was the movie released? could the houser bros have seen this movie and said: THAT'S what we'll do to the benz, when he is done making the games we need him to make!?!

what happened to the guy who tried to sue zuckerberg for that backstabbing action, I have never given that any attention. did he get what's his?

The allegation that Sam never played or viewed the game pre-release is petty. Who watches that sh*t anyway? I'm usually in the kitchen making myself a cocktail while the opening credits roll to a movie or game. Sounds assumptive and baseless to me. All it proves to me is that Sam probably doesn't usually pay attention to that crap. Like everyone else. Get 500 gamers in a poll and see how many pay attention to the credits. Done.

So let me get this right. The email stuff is trying to prove rights by emotion? What are they trying to prove here? Appeal to emotion? That's a fallacy. Look it up.

All I see here is that "The Benz" possibly has a self-inflicted paper cut, just took the machete out of the fire pit, and is about to cauterize it for everyone to see. *birds fly in terror as screaming pierces the night*

Lest I remind you all that not one of us knows what goes on behind closed doors. This piss poor speculation match of a piss poor lawsuit is meaningless, cantankerous, innuendo.

Fact is all 3, Lez and the 2 Houser c*nts did sign a Royalty Agreement Contract in 2009 making Benz an equal partner. They're going to lose this suit.

The franchise and R* is finished. The housers make terrible games. The Benz saved them, they somehow forgot that and will pay for it.

I have no doubt Rockstar's new games will simply be glorified remakes of previous works. That's exactly what Red Dead Redemption 2 is looking like so far: the same thing we've already played, but prettier visuals to hide the fact. Eventually gamers will recognize this when innovative games like Everywhere hit the marketplace. When that happens, Rockstar will fade into obscurity much like Valve or Bungie.

Most people who fanboy over Leslie are also the same people who hate on GTA Online and microtransactions. How can you be such a huge hypocrite? Leslie clearly said that GTA Online was his idea and he wanted to make it a top priority. Sam and Dan Houser focused on single player. Their idea of multiplayer was most likely the gang wars mode that was leaked a while ago.

Enjoy waiting for Everywhere. it's going to be a microtransactions filled, free 2 play, roleplay, rip off trash similar to "Second Life". That's also what Leslie wanted to do about Grand Theft Auto series: turn it into Sims type of game, while Housers push for a criminal work simulator it has been since start. If you like Leslie's ideas please go play Second Life, Grand Theft Auto is not a game you want to play if you don't like criminal drama.

I like how you dedicated your post to those ripping on Rockstar, GTAO, and micro and yet you turned around and ripped a game that hasn't even been seen yet.
