Right, so as some of you might know, I am in the hospital with a lot of painkillers in my system. So, of course I wrote some poetry.

I don't think this even qualifies as poetry, but whatever.

Also, I don't usually write poems, and it may be pretty bad, so if you like social commentary or bad poetry, who knows, you might actually read it.

Here goes:

                                                                          LIES

Our heads are full of lies, damn lies.

According to them, if you remove layers of lies upon lies and seek the truth you become bitter, pessimistic.

If you see the truth, you become disillusioned.

I agree, I have no illusions my friends.

Conservatism, prudery, religion, capitalism...

So much brainwashing all around,

so many liars hailed as saviours.

When will it stop?

We live in gilded cages, we feed on the best of things and

we lose sight of the oppression

Buried under piles of biryani and chicken

we hear the screams of the ones trapped in the chains of society, tortured to death

we shake our heads, and say "Why do things like these happen?"

And we go back to our piles of comfort, to the lies and the clarifying unclarity.
