I don't get people's fascination with interiors; a few (working) food stands should have been in 5 but what could you do in past GTA interiors that was so fun that people miss them so? I think Rockstar need to add at least a couple of interiors that have naked pics of Niko and CJ for people to jack off to lmao. Just kidding (f*ck you).

Because the interiors were fun to have shootouts in, and interiors also meant Burger Shot and Cluckin Bells which means full health for 1 dollar only.
Also, I really miss food stands, I laughed so hard the first time I heard "wanna try my wiener?" in IV.

Gave it a 4 - very little happens beyond the city limits.  The GTA SA gang areas are so well realised, each area has its own feel.  One of the highlights of GTA SA for me is when CJ is dumped in the countryside. Yeah there is a lot of driving to do to get around GTA SA, but that makes it feel massive.  Getting from LSIA to Paleto Bay just doesn't feel as far a drive as say, Grove Street to Las Venturas Strip.  What is the point of the Jail or the Casino in GTAV?  GTAV map is a missed opportunity.

I loved interiors in San Andreas and IV (and the other 3D era games and the ones we can enter in V) because it's fun to have shootouts in them, explore every corner of them and in my opinion, just adds to the world if I know the city I'm exploring has buildings that I can enter with actual people inside. Also, I just get irked by interiors in V because a lot of them are locked off for really no good reason. The thing is V has quite a good number of interiors and they are all gloriously detailed so why Rockstar locked most of them, I will never know (luckily, I can open all of them with a simple mod).

I don't get people's fascination with a lot of things. Doesn't mean they can't like them. You see the thing is, not everybody is going to like what you like and not everybody is going to dislike what you dislike. And the sooner you - and many others - can realize that, the better.

9/10 for me, I like detailed yet big maps and so what I think V has an advantage from IV was it's vast open world. I don't like being crowded in a small place and that's it. I like countryside  too especially when you want to get away from the city areas in a game. More diversity = more things to explore and making it more detailed.

I gave it a 9. The graphics are beautiful, the vistas are gorgeous, LS gets the feeling of being in the actual LA perfectly, I just love it. I particularly like Raton Canyon, and even though it may seem minor, the night sky. Seriously you guys, if you're playing NG or PC, look at the night sky. I didn't give it a 10 because it just didn't capture the feeling of mystery and isolation when you went offroad or found a new place that SA had. The first time I went to Paleto Forest I got hyped to see a deep forest I could get lost in at night, and not only was I disappointed by the size, but by the fact that it's covered in roads. Jesus R*, make me go cross-country for Claude's sake. Still love the night sky though.

7/10

Its overall a good map but I WANT MORE ! I want a bigger map ! Its a shame they waist such a lot of space for the country side that is mostly empty. The lack of vegetation is shocking like the interiors and some locations are poorly accurate.

I've tried to play withouth radar and blips yesterday. Now it's much easier to get lost and the map feels bigger, really. Try it. I promise, after that, you won't say you know the map so well that you can easily recognize the area no matter where you are ;)

I don't get why some people lower the score just because there's no SF/LV. Just because all 3 were in SA doesn't mean they have to be in V. Should I also give IVs map a bad score because it doesn't have San Andreas (San Fierro) and Vice city despite all 3 being in GTA 1?

From all the time I spent playing Online, I can say that you can place my character anywhere on the map with the map off and I'll know where I am.

V's map gets a lower score from me because I thought that it lacked a decent number and variety of interiors, LS should have been bigger than it is now, more varied districts, and it should have more small towns, there was no proper forest, and it had a badly designed layout. So it gets between a 6 and 7 from me.

That's my main reason. The map would have probably got a 10 from me if it had SF and LV.

I only play V with the HUD off so I know. But you can still place me anywhere on the map and I'll know exactly where I am. I originally started playing with the HUD off because I felt it was too cluttered and sh*t like that. Well it made driving around a little better but I still never get that feeling of isolation.

Ok. Get any V map please and show me EXACTLY where I am on these pics. I don't accept answers like "Paleto Bay", "Strawberry" etc., get the map, mark the EXACT locations (100-150 m error is acceptable) and upload it here. Btw, do you guys appreciate my license plate? :inlove:

First one is between Sandy Shores and the scrapyard where that survival happens, the second one is near the Vinewood police station (I think), third one is after Madrazo's ranch heading back to the city near the TV sign, fourth one is next to the Maze Arena Plaza heading towards Little Seoul/Burger Shot, but I'll admit that I don't know the last one because it's in the middle of nowhere and away from anything recognizable.

6. Terrible layout, heavy emphasis on size which sacrifices seemingless interiors but very beatiful and ,again, massive.

8/10. Very detailed map but the downtown is way too close to the vinewood hills, It takes a minute to drive downtown. There needs to be a lot more suburbs, and a couple morr small towns, like Las Peyasdas and Fort Carson in SA.

The map gets a 7 from me. Too much landside and too little city. The city lacks poor areas and alleys while it has too many plastic feeling places like Vinewood Hills. The Vinewood Hills didn't feel like Nuketown in San Andreas. A big part of the city is also industrial area where you can do nothing. On the land it lacks places where you feel alone and small towns. The "small towns" in Grand Theft Auto V feel just like Los Santos even the NPC's are the same. In San Andreas we had hillbillies, farmers and more.

For reference RDR gets a 10/10.

So far:

Spoiler

Average map rating of 7.7/10 - which isn't too shabby given the nature of this forum. I guess we can easily say, "good but improvable by a significant margin".

While small towns and trailer hot spots are inhabited by unique country folk not seen elsewhere, Paleto Bay, El Gordo Lighthouse, as well as the coastline, are notable for attracting people from LS who would swap the city fumes for a bit of calm, so it's not unusual to come across at least some familiar faces when roaming Blaine County.

To me on of the main problem is that many locations in the game feel "plastic" "fake" like the city got no souls at all, some dont and you can get a nice feeling exploring them. And the other main problem is the NPC, they feel so f*cking fake. I take back what Official General said, there is no proper forest ! like WTF ! how they could miss that ? and even the desert ! you cant even be lost or something cmon. they missed a huge opportunitie with the city but also with the country side thats for sure; when I look back at RDR thats just make me grind my teeth.

Omg, the only places in the city where some of hillbillies (mb even all of them, I'm not sure) spawn are Mission Row and Textile City. The peds vary a lot depending on area, there are black peds in South LS, bodybuilders and girls in bikini in Del Perro and Vespucci, rich people in Vinewood, etc. A group of juggalos spawns in Sandy Shores only, as well as hikers spawn in the countryside specific locations only. No taxis in the towns, cheap cars prevail, tractors could be seen, and you say the towns feel just like Los Santos? Jesus fckn Christ, guys go play bowling with Roman.

One of my favourite wastes of time on GTA IV was camping in the lobby of the hospital and endless (weapon/health cheat enabled) killing spree of cops trying to get through the sliding doors.  No interiors to do that kind of thing on GTAV.

The map had tons of variety, the only problem I have with the map is that the desert could have less man-made stuff in it.
