No, seriously. Stop thinking too hard. Just add a word to your first/middle/last name.

Example:

- Devin-ToxicKnight

- TK-Devin

- Matt_the_Knight

- ToxicKnightDawson

Much better, easier, and simpler.

It's been a while since I truly paid attention to video game graphics, CGI, and all that. However, I just rewatched Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within from 2001 (which some of you may remember didn't do too well) and it got me interested in where we are and how far we've come, in regards to graphics in games. I think it was the first animated movie that attempted to be photoreal. I remember watching this at the theaters back in 2001 and I was in awe at how real it looked. You must think I was blind in 2001 to think this was real, but back then I really was nearly convinced.

Fast forward 15 years, and now video games can get awfully close to this, and perhaps even exceed it on occasion. FF:The Spirits Within sure didn't feel that long ago, but what took forever to create using complex render farms back in 2001, we can now achieve in real time on a home PC.

Luckily, we may have another point of reference thanks to Kingsglaive, a new Final Fantasy movie released in 2016. And like The Spirits Within, it was fully CG and followed the photorealistic goals and they ended up with this.

Kingsglaive-27.jpg

Looks very close to real. Now I wonder if it'll take another 15 years for games to match it once again.

Yeah, the book's pretty useless. I'm more referring to having to escort five people 100 meters through zombies being great fun

Snatched Sleeping Doge Definitive Edition for 5 bucks from PSN US.

People were right. This is so 'the-next' True Crime. I loved True Crime series for the hand combat and I'm glad I have Sleeping Doge now.

There are some severe issues like broken SFX (nonstop repeating), horrible crash, half-corrupted save data (last mission title not appearing), and major unstable fps. But as usual, I can ignore them.

Oh, and Mama Winston has to be the badassest character of the century. lol.

Most people don't realise that that Sleeping Dogs was an original game called Black Lotus (I think I prefer that to Sleeping Dogs). When Activision took over the publication of it they owned the IP for True Crime and wanted to market it as a game with an all ready established name, hence why it was going to be called True Crime 3. Activision dropped it and so they renamed it Sleeping Dogs.

I think while the title and cover is cool, it's not really ideal to market an unknown game. I think they should have worn the type of game it is on it's sleeve. For example GTA has little vignettes of a the vehicles, race-cars, helicopters boats, guy with gun, sexy broad etc.

This type of image, although one might argue is more "cliched" or more of an obvious choice, I find is more accurate, eye-catching and explanatory of the type of game it is. The other image, while it looks great, it so clustered that I definitely find it would be better blown up for large print, not contained on small portrait-sized videogame box where it just looks like a muddled bunch of greys.

48048-sleeping-dogs.png

Look at this image. There's a guy on the ground, it's in a city-scape, most likely a back-alley. Our protag has a meat cleaver in one hand and a gun in the other. What more do you need. That's most of the action right there.

Don't get me wrong, I love the original art cover but I don't think it helped a game or potential start-up of a series with that cover. You need to manipulate as much exposure as you can to your target audience.

If you put the two box arts beside each other, changed the names and told me they were bother open-world crime sandbox's I would definitely pick up the box with the image above out of pure eye-catching curiosity.

I agree it's more eye-catching as a whole. But in my eyes, this fan made cover is also a mess with so many design flaws there that is more than enough to make it look cheap and fake.

I definitely would pick up the box above first compared to the original one, and then I'll ask the store keeper whether this was pirated copy or not. :p

For PC players on Windows 10, the Game Mode feature is not only confirmed but on it's way. If you want to know more, check out this PC Gamer article about the subject.

Try verifying your files. Right click on the game on the Steam library, click properties, click local files and then click verify integrity of game cache.

I'm probably late with this, but Mass Effect 2 is free via Origin's "On The House" thing. If you're interested, just add it to your library.

Oh damn, the bunch of shortsighted fools that is Squeenix strikes again. That's just cheap, gutting MD like they did and then put the final game's development on hiatus because of poor sales. Maybe if they haven't thrown all that money out of the window on franchise building and needless ancillary BS and didn't overestimate the sales projections... well, just another day with one of the worst ran publishers in gaming.

Man i'm so gutted about this. I loved Mankind Divided to bits despite the game ending before it even really began story wise; very few series make me as happy as DE as strange as that sounds.

Guessing we'll only see another game when another generation rolls along.

Right. I hope Cyberpunk 2077 will fill that hole at least a little bit, but damnit. You can't just end on a cliffhanger like that. I had hoped that we'd see the third game soon, within a year or two, given that development on it started concurrently with MD. I wonder how far they have gotten in the time they had.

Idk Cyberpunk 2077 will likely be amazing considering who's working on it but DE is a very special series that's one of a kind in the medium as a whole. I do not mean to imply that its the only cyberpunk game out there or the only one with a focus on choice [if anything stealth and choice are the in thing right now] but very few pull it off like the franchise does.

Can't believe how badly SE mangled this. Worst publisher out there.

I'm curious about something since I installed Ubuntu on my PC - are there any games that run better on Linux than on Windows (and are worth playing)? I only installed it for casual internet browsing and working stuff that Linux benefits both in speed and safety, but I'm curious to know if could it also, in some titles, deliver a better gaming experience than on Windows.
