Thanks to my reader Colin Attle, who contributed a number of references to my
"Vice City" walk-through, for finding a reference that's N across a block and
street from the "AR" of "MARKET" (also a couple of blocks W of the Market Ammu-
Nation), where there's a store called "SPACEY!"
http://img379.images...cjspaceyds6.jpg

Colin wrote to me that it probably refers to arcade video games like "Space
Invaders." When he was young, he and some of his friends called such games
"spaceys."

here's something I just discovered today..maybe it's known..if it is,let me know..I know you will (ha ha)..I'm getting a drink of SPRUNK at the train station in San Fierro and figure I'll jump up onto the overhang above the entrance to the waiting area and start trouble..to my surprise I can't jump up on the front but the sides..no problem..seems there's an invisible barrier across the front of the overhang..you even climb over it on the way down..maybe there was a sign on there origionally..anyone else experienced this?

It's just some kind of an model bug... Made mistakely by R*. You can find thos all over San Andreas.

@dice: it's a big pointy rock which looks like dick biggrin.gif Can be found from Las Venturas, near the abandoned airfield. If You look at it from the right position You can also notice it has balls too.

Catalina says nothing about a "Tommy" in any of her robbery missions.

Catalina and the girlfriends say some things when Tommy takes them on stunt
jumps and such--could it be something she says at times like that?

C**k Rock, W of Verdant Meadows Aircraft Graveyard, looks like Big Stoney in
Kodachrome Basin State Park, near Cannonville, Utah. (Thanks to flying fox; I'm
not sure which of us thought of it 1st.)

an entrance lot at the S end of the block of "TOS" of "LOS SANTOS."

And this is on my PS2 vers. 1 so I don't know if it appears on other versions or systems..but it looks pretty strange

Rockstar's in-joke entertainment, etc., references are usually pretty clear.
If they wanted you to see one about Ed Gein, you'd see one, but there aren't
any. (For a few second hand but valid ones, see the bottom of this post.) The
myepsilon site stretches things, and suggests things with unanswered questions
it isn't hard to answer, to make the facts fit the theory a bit, like something from
the Erich von Dšniken shelf at the library.
http://www.myepsilon..._comparison.htm

A few examples:

The gossip site says there's an "abandoned wheel chair in Blue Lagoon"
in "San Andreas," which it connects with a wheelchair in "Texas Chainsaw
Massacre." There's a wheelchair in Fisher's Lagoon in SA similar to one in
"Manhunt," 2003, with different textures. Johnny Sindacco rides in a different
one in "The Meat Businesss" in SA. What it has to do with Leatherface or Ed
Gein beyond an arbitrary speculation about the one in "Texas...." I cannot say.

The gossip site connects "San Andreas" meathooks with Ed Gein and "Texas...."

The "San Andreas" "meathooks" referred to have animal meat hanging from
them inside the meat processing plant, where you'd expect to find them. The
Sindacco Abattoir ("The Meat Business") in SA is at the NE corner of the block of the
bottom of the "EST" of "WHITEWOOD ESTATES." Nothing out of the ordinary,
or about Ed Gein, is there. A meathook was used in "Texas...." but I haven't
seen a reference to Gein using meathooks. Someone can be seen stuck on one
in the opening of VC, an indication of Mafia violence like the way Carbone ended
up in "Goodfellas," but not SA.
http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Goodfellas

There's a Chainsaw at the lumber camp in the Panopticon in SA because you'd
use a Chainsaw at a lumber camp. Why the site connects that with Ed Gein, I
have no idea. Ed Gein was put in a mental hospital, not a prison, let alone the
Panopticon, didn't murder with a chainsaw, and they didn't have him do hard
labor cutting lumber.
http://en.wikipedia....n#Trial_hearing

"Panopticon" has more general reference than to the famous prison, too, as a
place that affords such a thorough view, which seems like the general reference.
http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Panopticon

The gossip site sees a resemblance between the farm house of The Farm (also
Helena's house in Flint Range and the save place in Whetstone) and a combination of the
TCM house and Ed Gein's house (?).

I didn't see a resembance between The Farm and Ed Gein's house, though
the SA house shown is similar to the "Texan Chainsaw...." house in some aspects,
not others--

(the most similar features are reversed in a mirror image way, the SA house
doesn't have a porch, the dormer of the TCM house is in the middle and on the
SA house it's on the left, the peak of the dormer of the TCM house is as high as
the other peak of it and higher than the peak of the SA house dormer, the window
on the left side of the TCM house correlates to the barn door of the barn connected
to the right side of the SA house, the door of each is one of four rectangles in a row
but a different one is chosen for each--to match in mirror image, the right one on
the SA house would be the door, a straight front view shows there are four air
vents on top of the SA house and two chimneys on the TCM house, etc.)
http://img386.images...05460105zp7.jpg
http://img471.images...05485934ex7.jpg
http://www.texaschai...ouse4/index.htm

--not enough to clinch a ringer, and there aren't any nearby references,
or ones shown by The Truth, to indicate the intention of making the connection.
Wondering if it's loosely based on the TCM house is as far as it's safe to go.
http://www.myepsilon...ace_ed_gein.htm
http://www.myepsilon..._references.htm

The gossip site says there are two SA vehicles that also apear in beat up versions--
the Glendale and the Walton--I have the Glendale and the Sadler for that on PC.

"Ed Gein had a car that looked something like the Walton truck." I'd like to
see that.

According to the Crime Library web site, Ed Gein had a 1949 Ford sedan.
http://www.hfmgv.org.../1949/ford.html
http://www.crimelibr...n/frenzy_6.html

He also had a Ford truck (made sometime before he killed Mrs.Worden in
1957). I don't know what year model it was. A 1956 model is at the next link.
http://www.bobbittvi...rlesHubbard.jpg
http://www.crimelibr...keletons_5.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Gein

The body shape is similar but the grill and angel of the windshield aren't the
same as those of a Walton, which isn't meant to look like Gein's Ford.

The Walton in SA, like in "Vice City," is a Chevrolet 1st Series 1955
model 3014 with the cab of a Chevrolet 2nd Series 3100 "Task Force"
pickup '55 and a wooden cargo bed.
http://www.pickuptru...v_segment6.html
http://img47.imagesh...1walton18ny.jpg
http://img47.imagesh...1walton25il.jpg
http://img113.images...1walton38rk.jpg
http://img47.imagesh...1walton44qd.jpg

At Catalina's shack in Fern Ridge are the top of a rusted junked Walton, beav-
er and racoon pelts hanging from the porch roof, 3 graves (assumed to be of ex-
boyfriends) by a shovel, and blood stains on the porch floor (possibly due to
the last two things)--no indications of cannibalism or using human skin for
clothes.

You might imagine a vague resemblance between basic old truck body
shapes and skins, but having an old truck in the yard and clearing the land of
animal pests, though it might be ghoulish to Paul McCartney, is pretty ordinary
in the country. Likewise, one gossip entry (see the "egein hex" gossip below)
imagined a clue in finding a rifle in the country (?).

The gossip site alleges that in "TCM," "the youths escapes in a Glendale-type of car."

For Glendale, I have:

Glendale 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air
1961 Dodge Dart Pioneer four-door
1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix

It has headlights above the grill, which has a round spear-like bumper project
from it on either side, like a smoothed-out, simplified front of a 1957 Chevro-
let Bel Air. For example, Rockstar North removed the horizontal bar that goes
across the middle of the front. (A 1955 Buick is similar and would be simpli-
fied, too.)
http://img240.images...ir1957grill.jpg
http://en.wikipedia....evrolet_Bel_Air

It has the middle and back end of a 1961 Dodge Dart Pioneer four-door except
for two things.

One, once at the back of the trunk, the Glendale strange tail fins slope down
to the rear bumper and the 1961 Dodge Dart strange tail fins curl forward in a
horizontal line to the middle of the side of the body.
http://img152.images...ledrtad27hk.jpg
http://www.musclecar...history-1.shtml
http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Dodge_Dart

And two, it has the housing of the brake lights of a 1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix
except smoothed off from front to back.
http://img416.images...960dodgeqy1.jpg
http://en.wikipedia....i/Dodge_Phoenix

"Texas Chainsaw...." is given by the gossip site as having a car similar to a
Glendale. Aside from the '57 Chevy-looking front, which some Oldsmobiles
had around then, too, the most distinctive thing about the look of the Glendale
is the back, notably the fins, which look like those on a '61 Dodge Dart. The
round protrusions on the side that hold the brake lights are like those on a '60
Dodge Dart. There isn't a Glendale in real life nor in the movie.
http://www.musclecar...history-1.shtml
http://www.hubcapcaf...01/dodg6001.htm
http://forum.imcdb.o...sacre_1974.html

The site connects "chuffed to pieces" with Gein and Leatherface, but I don't
know why. The SA theater announces "chuffed to bits" and, according to the
Merriam-Webster Internet dictionary site, "chuff" means:

"to produce noisy exhaust or exhalations : proceed or operate with chuffs
<the chuffing and snorting of switch engines -- Paul Gallico>"
http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary

Gein or Leatherface had a flatulance problem? This would be a novel way to
kill people but I haven't read a report of Ed Gein using it. He huffed notably
while murdering people?--possibly, though I haven't read any mention of it.
The Crime Library site gives Gein as shooting his murder victims and that he
carved corpses in his house.

Rockstar may have meant one of the slang definitions given at the next two
links ("chuffed" commonly means "pleased" or "proud" in the U.K.),
but again it wouldn't be the kind of reference the gossip site indicates. Making it
a horror movie title is just meant as a pun on a common expression.
http://www.urbandict....php?term=chuff
http://www.urbandict...hp?term=chuffed

Piggsy in "Manhunt" used animal skin for a disguise, not human, but used a
Chainsaw like Leatherface in "Texas...." According to the Crime Library site,
Ed Gein used human skin from female corpses on his body because he wanted
to be like a woman (I wouldn't want to date that woman) but isn't known to
have covered his head with human or animal skin as a disguise or used a
chainsaw while murdering.
http://www.myepsilon...ace_manhunt.htm
http://en.wikipedia....able_characters

The gossip site alleges a connection between a silver dildo in SA and Gein
painting his mother's vulva silver. Update: I've found a source for the
allegation about Gein (see the next link). But in SA, Bayside Marina has a
light gray-brown vibrator with dark stripes lengthwise, not silver.
http://crime.about.c...rder/p/gein.htm

The site claims that an "egein hex" poster, allegedly meaning "E. Gein is in
the hex" (in the programming of the game) is "unconfirmed"--a screenshot
would be good. I'm just guessing, but the site at the next link may be the
source of this claim:
http://www.neoseeker...iversary/15.htm

There, the claim is the phrase appears on a poster by the Angel Pine theater
which advertises "Chuffed to Bits." I didn't see that when I looked there, however
the theater has a poster for "A Few Good Hens." "w Good Hens" > "egein hex"?
I don't expect to see that screenshot anytime soon....

The "open grave in Palamino Creek" is an open coffin that doesn't seem to
refer to any one particular thing. There are Rockstar people named on some
tombstones as Easter eggs. That it glows green at night suggests fiction about
aliens, or just a horror show effect for creepiness, to me, since there was
nothing supernatural like that about Ed Gein. For instance, in Los Santos
there's a crypt with a reference to Spike in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." The
"open grave" is shown in the "San Andreas" Intro movie, and in the game W of
Verdant Meadows, and is a "Casino" reference. There are several graves by
Catalina's shack that indicate she buries ex-boyfriends in an unprofessional way.
No Ed Gein or "Texas" theories are better than arbitrarily possible additions.

For fiction that has a loose connection with Ed Gein, "Psycho," 1960, by Alfred
Hitchcock, and "The Silence of the Lambs," 1991, are pretty good. For the literal
story, the Crime Library web site is pretty good.
http://en.wikipedia....cho_(1960_film)
http://en.wikipedia....o...ambs_(film)
http://www.crimelibr...ein/bill_1.html

(Also, since this is sometimes confused with the issue: in VC in "The Job,"
Tommy wears a mask and clothes something like Jason in "Halloween," 1978. After
the mission, the outfit and a machete--Jason used a knife--are available on the
2nd floor of the Malibu Club.)

I'll add a few valid connections:

A model of Piggsy of "Manhunt," 2003, is on sale at Berkley's RC Shop. Piggsy
used a chainsaw and animal skin, not human skin, for a disguise, which is simi-
lar to Leatherface in "Texas...." using a chainsaw and human skin for a dis-
guise. Leatherface has the use of the skin of corpses in common with Gein, but
Gein didn't use it for a disguise for murdering people or kill with a chainsaw--
he killed with a gun. The only clear GTA movie chainsaw reference is in regard
to "Scarface" with Al Pacino" with Apt.3C in "Vice City" unless you consider a
"Texas...." suggestion made by the "Manhunt"/Piggsy reference in Berkley's RC
Shop in "San Andreas."

You might wonder if the house at The Farm/Helena's house in Flint Range/the
save place in Whetstone is loosely based on the house in TCM.

Dennis Hopper is Lefty in TCM2 and Steve Scott in "Vice City."
<a href='http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Texas_Chainsaw_Massacre_2' target='_blank'>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Texas_Chainsaw_Massacre_2</a>

Hannibal Liquor is on the N block of Montgomery. In "Silence of the Lambs,"
1991, Hannibal Lecter practices cannibalism and "Buffalo Bill" makes clothes
from human skin. Ed Gein may have done the 1st and was known to have done the
2nd.

Sorry for not supplying an abridged version: a lot of the SA myths are full of crap.

P.S.: consider, too, the hours someone can be misled to waste running around SA
due to pranksters coming up with phoney gossip to get attention. There was a pretty
healthy-sized batch of it to look at this time.

A few books are found on the bed in the Angel Pine and Whetstone save places
in SA: "The Space Gem" by G.M.Bertolli, a book by Philip R. Jones, and "A Few
Good Hens" by John Craig.

"Space gem" may be a reference to one of the gem effects in the 1995 Capcom
video game "Marvel Super Heroes."

"Philip R. Jones" might be the author referred to at the next links (or a rel-
ative of Lazlow Jones?):

Colin Attle pointed out to me that one of the author's books, "Sign and Symbol
Communication for Mentally Handicapped People," seems relevant to the fact that
people in GTA's express themselves with their hands a lot.

"A Few Good Hens" is a pun based on the phrase "A Few Good Men," which was
part of a slogan of the U.S. Marines Corps ("we're looking for a few good men"),
a play by Aaron Sorkin, then a movie in 1992. "John Craig" may be a reference
to the Scottish John Craig educated at the University of Edinburg who's des-
cribed at the second link below.

Thanks again to Colin Attle for telling me that "hen" in Scotland is slang for
a woman you know affectionately.

Something odd I found.
In the Big Ear. You know, the place in the desert with the huge satelite dish. There were two pedestrians walking together. I killed them and went off. When I came back there were two more pedestrians. Killed them, went off and when I came back I saw another two pedestrians happily walking along in the same spot. Glitch? Easter Egg? I'm not sure.
I was using the Jetpack at the time. GIve it a try.

I demand correction! Max Payne was made by Remedy, Rockstar only converted it for consoles.

are they Mr Hat and Mr Trenchcoat? Dunno about the trenchcoat, but Hat always comes back to life when you turn around. Weird.
